Im just wondering. yes learning about sports is not a sin, but lets be honest here. Generally people look at the "fake" hot girls. you know what I'm talking about? They'll swimsuits on and they will be half naked, but why? In the bible it pretty states you can't look at porn, so does a half dressed hot girl i a "swim suit" count? if so where are all those millions of subscribers going to go?

You know you can lust after a woman even when fully clothed and not showing any skin at all. Its not a matter of how much clothes they are wearing but its an issue in the heart of the one doing the staring.

Well seeing how the swimsuit issue is one of out 52 yearly issues, then saying its some replacement for porn is almost a joke. I know plenty of people who subscribe to SI for the other 51 issues. And if swimsuits count as porn I guess no more pools and beaches for you.
I'll be honest, I used to purchase the swimsuit editions. I don't own any now, and realize (in my opinion, at least) it's a sin. First of all, it has nothing to do with sports (besides the point). Also, I'm not married, or even in a relationship. But those that are and purchase these types of magazine, it's sending a message to your partner that you're admiring other women. There's only one woman you're suppose to admire, and that's your wife or girlfriend. It's a lustful thing, because what else are you purchasing said magazines for? Single or not single.
When you go to the beach or pool, you're not going to look at other people (hopefully). You're going to get a tan (hopefully). When you buy the swimsuit edition, what exactly is the reason behind it? It's nothing but half naked women. And you're not getting a tan. So what exactly is a good reason to buy such a thing when it features half naked women?
There is a difference between Lust, and healthy male desire for women. God's Love is Patriarchal, that is, a Man full of God's Love is like a Patriarch, who views the long term wisdom of actions.
At some point in my journey of Faith, it was like what was going on below the belt rose up into my heart. I still desire women. I still find them attractive. I like looking at them. It is healthy for a man to look upon a woman in a respectful and appreciative way. I just don't think of them being naked, or think of getting them in my bed because I know that is not good for either of us in the long term, I know God would frown upon it, and I know I would be smote with God's Rod if I did. I, like God, want Good things for people. That which builds them up.
Is looking at Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition sinful? It can be. In what Spirit are you looking at it? If your mom ever told you that if you masterbate you will go blind, then she is not wrong. If you are lusting after women, then you may go blind to God and things of God.

I am a subscriber to SI. I love my sports! What do I do when I get the swimsuit issue? I throw it out.

I understand where you're coming from, and I can agree to an extent. But how do you explain these people being physically gifted to perform in these sports? How do you explain for a lot of players that came from virtually no home, sports were the only way they would make it in life, or else they'd be on the streets, in a gang, or maybe even dead. God blesses all of us talents. How do you explain the talents in the world of sports?
What do you mean in what spirit are you looking at it? In what ways can you look at something like that? Do you check out women at the beach? Cause that's essentially what looking at the swimsuit edition is. It's not like a guy looks at it and says "Geez that looks like a nice bathing suit. I think that would look good on my wife. Hey honey come here. What do you think of this?".
A man goes to a dance. He likes girls. He likes dancing with them and socializing. It is healthy to do. Maybe he is looking for a potential someone to marry.

I was in Afghanistan for 12 months. For three months I saw very few females, and if I did they were not much to look at. Someone bought a Maxim Magazine. I looked at it, and I about passed out it had been so long. Women make everyone's quality of life better. They are like flowers and men are visual beings. They are pleasant to look at. There is nothing wrong with appreciating a woman in the right way. Especially as a single man.
First of all, thank you for your service. I can't even imagine what those 12 months were like. Having said that, though, what if you had a daughter and one day while going through it you noticed she is barely clothed in said issue. Or what if she comes up to you and says she wants to be published in said issue. Would you still have the same mindset?
What a single man, especially a single soldier does, to keep his morale up, and keep himself going is a lot different from what a married man does. I had no one to write home to. Just my parents, but they didn't care enough to see me off or to see me come home. There was no woman in my life. In WWII, they had pin up girls wearing what a woman may wear to the beach.
A single man goes to the beach, he sees women in bikinis. Not being around women for long periods of time can wear down on a man.
Sigh.... I don't think there is any excuse other than ..we are weak, broken , sinners.Christians and non Christians a like. My weakness might be something easy for you to walk away from.

the swimsuit issue of SI isn't much to look at, IMO. So God probably doesn't approve of half nekkid girls flaunting their stuff for the world. just sayin'...
My guess is that God considers it a temptation for men, but it's the man's decision to buy it or not. There are other sports mags.

if they can 'play' so much 'hard' sports, they could have learned to work with their hands and been dependent on no one. (yep. it is written, and unchanged)....
there's testimony from many believers trusting and relying on GOD and living HIS WAY, born and growing up and remaining dirt poor (standard for believers all around the world); as it is written (and usually ignored) "with food and clothing be content".... repeating this for the few who might actually care what GOD'S WORD says - many will ignore everything from GOD, and many attack everything from GOD instead of giving HIM thanksgiving in all things.
