Amen! Judas was an unbelieving, unclean devil who would betray Jesus (John 6:64-71; 13:10-11).
It says "on that day" and "Many" shall say. It also say workers of lawlessness. It also says unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Without holiness no man shall see the Lord.
I want to be clear RobbyEarl...please refer to John 7...no one had been born of the HOLY SPIRIT yet...and no one could be born of the HOLY SPIRIT until CHRIST entered into HIS GLORY (the GLORY which HE had with the FATHER before the world ever was).
The Holy Spirit had not yet been given, because that CHRIST JESUS had not yet been glorified (Paraphrased).
Trying to be justified by the law is to offer up animal sacrifices for atonement of sins, and not believing in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. Or trying to justify yourself any other way than through the eternal sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We receive Jesus Christ as our atoning sacrifice by belief, but if we do not repent (180 degree turn) from our sins into becoming obedient to he's commandments by having a good conscience toward God then we are trampling the sacrifice of Jesus Christ under our feet, being willful transgressors.

Metanoia in Greek literally means to change your mind...change your thinking.

Metanoia and Metanoeo are two different words, check the definition of Metanoia in Matthew 3:8. Also, obviously these two words are related to each-other when it comes to the the message of repenting. It is based on reversal of your decision about sinning, which means to stop sinning. Also consider John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

What particular works that so requires faith in order to act?
As per scripture is concern, it is only the hearing and hearing of the words of God. This is the only works that is so being required for a faith to work. Now if thy faith did not work things out for you then you need to consider that thy faith is dead being described only as mental assent. The scriptures that you have provided are how faith and works complement with each other. This kind of faith that doesn’t save is the faith that “only says” or like having a faith that is of the devil such faith is not a “saving faith” at all.
Now consider this one if your faith really works. I will put down one scripture to see if you have faith that works. Do you really believe this is all needed for spiritual salvation?
Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house.

Repentance as it applies to salvation is based on what you believe to be true. It has absolutely nothing to do with sin. If it did it would be clearly spelled out in Gods Word that to be saved you would refrain from sin. It never says that anywhere in the bible where salvation is spoken of! Salvation is based on trust in the One Man that lived a sinless life as clearly explained in Romans 5 which explains we are justified by faith. It tells how sin entered the world, and how God provided a sacrifice for all sin and Christ died for the "ungodly". Verses 6-8 tell us He died "while we were yet sinners".
Please stop discounting the blood sacrifice our Savior made for us by attaching man made stipulations to Gods free gift! Stop and read Romans 5 now! When we understand there is nothing we can do but trust Him for salvation we understand the true gospel and can tell others about it. But what many are teaching is "another gospel" and they will be judged for it (Gal. 1:8-9)!
Repentance is the change of mind that comes when you understand you cannot reach the righteous requirement God demands through self reformation, but can only accept it by faith through His perfect provision supplied by Jesus. When this revelation given by the Spirit of God is given to man through His Word He will instill a desire in that person to live for Him. He doesn't need our help with that. He just needs us to preach the truth.
Please read and understand Romans 5.
The Greek word for "repent" is "metanoia" (noun) and "matanoeo" (verb) you see as defined in the Strongs #3340, 3341: to think differently or afterwards, reconsider. After thought, change of mind.
Those who repent and receive Christ through faith change their minds about their sinful position and need for Christ to save them and the new direction of this change of mind is faith in Christ for salvation. The fruit of repentance is practicing righteousness and not sin.
The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions. Acts 26:20 declares, "I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds." This is the fruit of repentance (Matthew 3:8), not the essence of repentance (change of mind).
I have heard certain people say, "If you want to be saved, repent of your sins, turn from your sins." If turning from your sins means to stop sinning, then people can only be saved if they stop sinning. And it is unlikely that anyone will ever be saved if that is the case, since we don't know anyone who has ever "completely" stopped sinning. Do you believe that you are sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, 100% of the time?
I've seen people abuse and misuse the words of Jesus "go and sin no more" in John 8:11 to teach "sinless perfection." Jesus was telling her to go and leave her life of sin. She had been practicing adultery. I don't believe that sinless perfection is being taught here. Jesus cannot compromise his perfect holy standard, so of course He is not going to say, "go and just sin a little bit."
One word is simply the noun and the other is the verb of the exact same meaning. The word itself has no reference to sinning within itself. That is a religious connotation put on the word from our church upbringing.
However "stop sinning" can be a fruit of having already repented ( changed your mind to trust in the gospel which is Christ )
The word "repentance" - metanoia as been shown by others simply in the original greek means " to change the mind ". In Jesus and Paul's day the word would be used in a sentence like this. " I was going to the synagogue but I metanoia (changed my mind ) and went to the market.
There are "fruits" of repentance ( changing the mind ) as in the case above...the person "went to the market". ( every fiber of my being wants to say..."and this little piggy stayed home".....but I will refrain )
To us it means to change our mind to stop relying on ourselves and our thinking and turn to God. Stop living our own life with our own thinking and come to Christ and let His life live through and in you. Receive all that Jesus did for us in His finished work.
We should be repenting ( changing how we think towards something ) constantly as we see the Lord's true nature, love and grace revealed to and in us.
There will always be "fruits" of having a changed mind ( having repented ) to God but the "fruit" is not the repentance within itself. True repentance is the "root" before the "fruit" comes.
The fruit will manifest itself in the form of having a changed heart because we are a new creation in Christ. This will also show in behavior as the life of Christ transforms our outward life to reflect what has already happened in our inner man - that new creation in Christ.
Sometimes our religious traditions can "hi-jack" the meanings of words and can present false assumptions.

What were these "many" people trusting in for salvation? Lord, Lord, have WE not prophesied in your name? and in your name cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? These many people in Matthew 7:22 had the wrong foundation.
They were trusting in their accomplishments/works to save them and not in CHRIST ALONE through faith. Jesus never knew them. Their hearts were not right with God, so their attempted external obedience which was stained with sin amounted to disobedience. This is why Jesus referred to them as WORKERS OF INIQUITY/LAWLESSNESS! They were self righteous!
So what righteousness is that? Philippians 3:9 - and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.
In Hebrews 12:14, certain translations say holiness and the NASB reads - Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. Those who are saved are sanctified/made holy/set apart. Do you believe this holiness is simply conjured up through yourself and equates to sinless perfection?

John 15 is not about our position with Christ as Jesus made clear in verse 3, but about our walk with Him. If we continue with Him as disciples we will bear fruits of the Spirit that will bring change to our lives. This is Spirit manifested change and not that born through self effort. This is what Hebrews 4:9-11 is talking about when it refers to "rest".
When we "abide" with Christ, He changes us from inside, and this is when the "fruit of repentance" becomes highly visible in a believers life. It is a work of God that changes us instantly upon salvation, and it is also a work of God that changes us progressively in our mortal lives but this progressive change can only happen if we have submitted ourselves to Him and walk with Him daily allowing His Word to change us as we learn from it.

Christ is the just one and the justifier of the faith he works in us. It is his faith that works in us so we can hear God and not hear the imaginations of our own heart. God is greater than our heart .Our heart is simply a judgement hall it can excuse us or condemn us. We are not the judge he is.
To repent means to turn around and seek another directive other than the one a person finds themselves in when they sin. If God does not do the first work of turning us no man can turn.. And then repent. Only God is good, our conscience or heart is desperately wicked and beyond repair as in who could know it?
And Romans 10...understanding that we should leave all men to THE ONE who is LORD.
An outward profession of who we say we belong to, if it does not match that inward profession of who we say we belong to is simply doing lip service to the NAME.
GOD is not fooled...HE sees the inward heart and knows that inward profession...HE knows who hearts are "near" HIM...and whose hearts are far from HIM...
That is why we are NOT to say, who will ascend or who will descend...but to simply preach and profess HIM that all may believe in THE GOSPEL and turn to HIM so as to be healed.
It's also why we are not to fight over "works"...or to boast our works...
In fact, as soon as we do boast of ourselves and our works, we have actually made a false profession of our own self-acquired righteousness (forgetting that apart from HIM washing there is NO RIGHTEOUSNESS)...
And as soon as we try to examine each others works or declare our own works, we are no longer "innocently" doing from the heart our works because of HIM....and have, in fact, let our left hand know what our right hand is doing...
We are supposed to just do everything as done to and for the LORD understanding that HE purchased us at a costly price...and this is why our lives are supposed to be living testimonies of our love for HIM...
The major "work" that is so very difficult...at least for me...is to be still (when I want to so much do in my flesh what i feel I should do to justify myself)...and know that HE is GOD...
We are supposed to REMAIN IN HIM...but I have found that "going out from HIM" sometimes comes when troubles arise and our flesh, and our own wills want to actively do something to maintain some sort of "position" (which is temporal) before the eyes of the world...
In fact, as soon as we do boast of ourselves and our works, we have actually made a false profession of our own self-acquired righteousness (forgetting that apart from HIM washing there is NO RIGHTEOUSNESS)...
And as soon as we try to examine each others works or declare our own works, we are no longer "innocently" doing from the heart our works because of HIM....and have, in fact, let our left hand know what our right hand is doing...
We are supposed to just do everything as done to and for the LORD understanding that HE purchased us at a costly price...and this is why our lives are supposed to be living testimonies of our love for HIM...

I remember Martha being angry and looking at her sister, Mary and asking the Lord to do something.
I also remember those two brothers who said to the Lord something about one brother wanting his brother to share the inheritence from him and the Lord said to both, in a sense, I didn't come to arbitrate between men. And HE didn't...HE came to bring all into ONE HOUSE and to break down the barrier of hostility and make ONE out of the two...in HIS OWN BODY...

And, if those who claim to be in the HOUSE/BODY are constantly "judging" their brothers/sisters by what they outwardly do or do not do, they are no different than Martha or those two bickering brothers...
We are supposed to do everything to honor HIM...
Martha was loved, but her eyes and service became divided...one eye on her "sister/brother" when both eyes should have been JUST on THE LORD...

I wish more people understood this. Any works done in the flesh are those that are considered "wood, hay, and stubble" (1 Cor. 3:12) that will be burned at the Bema Seat Judgement when our works will be judged. I'm sure there will be plenty of burning going on that day, some more than others. But we add to those works that will be burned when we seek to glorify ourselves rather than God.
