What drives you?

I feel that the hardest parts in life for me are the ones where everything is normal, or consistent. If things were really bad or really good in life, it drives you to fight, or to feel joy. It's meaningful. What drives you to keep going (work, school, relationships, etc) when things become monotonous? This is one of my worst fears in life- the everydayness of things.

I used to have this one nightmare (I believe that I mentioned it once on here) as a child. I'm in this dark void of nothingness on a platform of a rollarcoaster, and I am always convinced to sit in one of the carts and when I do, the cart fills up with cement all the way to my neck so I can't move. The cart begins to move along the track, and I am continue to follow the same track around and around, up and down in the void for eternity. The horror of that! A personal hell.

When things get normal like they are now and I feel stuck in school and work, unsure of my future, I feel the same panic as I do in that nightmare. In the past, I have quit jobs a lot when this feeling sunk in. I think I get antsy because I feel trapped.

Has anyone else felt something similar to this?

I see, you always have to be doing something, always have a goal or something that you have to work up to, I believe that youre a person that values change. Jesus said that He is always there with you, in those moments that you believe that youre in that cart, remember who is carrying you, youre living in this thing called life and He is the author if it, Remember youre never finished until you see Him face to face! Ha!! I really really hope this helped!

I think every one has times in their lives where they're bored and want some sort of change. I find it interesting that you brought up the roller coaster dream. You say the panic is the same in the dream as it is when things get monotonous. We panic out of fear, and we fear because we cannot control. So here's a bit of therapeutic homework. What about your life, job, school, future can you not control? Is it the people, money, yourself, the fact you're Canadian, etc? Be completely honest and journal it out to some degree and then review it. What is the truth and what is a lie? What can be controlled and what cannot? People operate on a great many lies. See where yours pop up.

When I feel like that, two words help me more than anything ----> road trip

I'm terribly driven. Too much so. This too can put you on a merry go round of a different kind. Sometimes you just have to jump.

Nope. I hate change.

But things never get monotonous for me inside my mind. It's actually quite unsettling sometimes. Maybe that's why I don't feel the constant need to do stuff.

I dunno which is worse...... not being driven enough, or being driven too much. I'm just the opposite. It seems the only thing that drives me are issues that come up at the spur of the moment, and requires a quick and proper response. That, and the need to do something immediately that I should've done two days ago!
By the Way, Jules, your posts are getting infested by termites........ just sayin'. Ever heard the phrase, "Yer eat up with it"? Now I guess you know what you're ate up with! LOL! :p

Girls are really good at describing things! I really felt like I was in this to be completely honest. i dont believe i could ever do this! lol!

"What drives you?'' and talking about what you live by which is the fear of consistency and being stuck in normalcy, not to mention the rollercoasters! I see what you did there!!. :P!! lmbo!! ...

Inspiration, interest and emotion. If my hearts not into something, it is just really a waste of time. But when I feel a connection with something and my heart is in it, I will give it 100%.

A man grows a group of fruit trees in his yard. A wide variety of different types - some of them are apple, some orange, some lemon, some mango. One season, he is content with an equal variety, but next season he has a change of heart and focuses on growing more apple trees then others, then the next season he wants oranges instead, next season he is still happy with oranges, the next season he changes to mangoes, then he feels like lemons. Why does he keep changing and doing it? Because he has a desire for the reward at the end - when he can enjoy eating that sweet fruit... or sour lemons :D

I struggle most when I doubt in God... And by this I mean have intellectual doubts about his existence, goodness etc.

My Hyundai Elantra drives me... or maybe more i drive it, but i guess me driving it, it drives me.. hmm.. a conundrum.

Real/Serious Answer: TBA

Comical Answer: Nothing drives me... Y_Y I'm always steering the car. ALFRED!! Where ARE YOU?!?!

I somewhat understand your feeling of being trapped, I sometimes get like this I guess. When I feel like I am getting nowhere... hmmm. Don't know.

I too have an Elantra...and it's terrible.

Everyone knows what drives me, and it happens every year in VA and NJ.

God did not bestow on me ambition or drive or goals...and as I have gotten older I don't really see the purpose in anything other then living daily. Other the being helpful to people in ways like food or some support emotional physically morally whatever, everything you do is going to be for nothing. That is either biblical or a lie to keep millions from achieving anything.
