Wow... but when the same word in the same language suddenly means the opposite... woah, that can lead to some nasty misunderstandings.

Yeah, in one place you might get a much more salt you ask for funny tho, if you translate that word to english, it means salty..
same word also means stern (example stern gaze), which more likely would suggests salty would be correct... but I cannot agree to that, I am from the region it means saltless

No it is not ..at least to my knowing..
But it could be a new sales tactic. Hopefully they would not ask with that word that can mean both.. (tho, all people do not know the word)

Honestly, it's a little hard to keep up with all your opinions because you share a lot of them haha. I get that it can be good to let thoughts out but maybe don't let ALL the thoughts out in ALL the threads?

I know I enjoy hearing about your lived experiences . But when you base your opinions off of things you saw in books or movies it's harder to take those opinions seriously. I hope that makes sense? I know that books are special to you but it's important to keep fiction separate from real life; That way your opinions are truly yours, and not from a random author or director.

Nobody has to agree with my opinion, but doesn't mean I can't have them.

I only let my thoughts out on Seouls threads, because she actually asks for them.

You don't have to take my opinions seriously, some of them are just for laughs. I'm not a character in a novel, thank God.

The Holy Bible is shelved under non-fiction, but some readers may beg to differ.

If it's in a church, it will be usually in the boxes behind the pews, and if the church doesn't have proper pews, the church bookshelf/library will have it. If your pastor/minister is stingy maybe they only have one for the whole church, and it's chained to the pulpit.

Nowadays you can get it online, but it's not the same. Something has been lost in the digital translation.

That's not what I was saying. I was saying that WHEN you share opinions based off of things you read/saw in FICTIONAL books or movies (like the size of houses in "Warroom"), it makes THOSE PARTICULAR opinions harder to take seriously.

Yup, I did know that! I was only referring to fictional books/movies, obviously the Bible is as true as you can get and should shape not just our opinions but our lives as well .

What I saw was that around 2014 a lot of people started leaving. The forum went from a place of fun banter to a place of more serious discussion. At the same time it got very quiet and it's been that way ever since (from what I've seen).

The house in War Room was HUGE for only 3 people.

It is hard to take that movie seriously, honestly. Of course it is fiction. Not everyone has huge walk in closets that you can pray in. Most of our closets are full of clothes.

Yea it's only a movie. People shouldn't take movies seriously. I know of no prayer groups that called themselves 'war rooms'. If people were praying behind people's backs for God to stab them, I did not know about it.

Of course I could write about non-fiction too, like memoirs, true stories etc, but they aren't part of popular culture the way fiction is.

Cos If I started quoting the Bible, I am sure some members would be quite offended if I started Bible-bashing them. And I'd be relegated to BDF. Once on there, you are at the point of no return.

You'd be like quoting screeds and screeds of scripture, so much so that your readers turn dizzy looking up 20 different passages in one paragraph, and too bad if you miss out some verses, you just make it so any verse can fit your argument to however you want it to.

What would you be doing with salty/saltless word, I don't think you can twist Swiss German that much to get a strange word into it
I did ask my coworker if he knew what "tuima" means, he did not make it's connection salt, but he guessed it right after I told him about it describing saltiness level: saltless.

I started a thread on Mean Girls because the movie is just kind of what high school was like in the early 2000s or before and a lot of teen girls had that experience.

of course we can't take it too seriously but it has its funny moments.
And everyone loves to hate Regina George. In fact, sometimes you have to feel sorry for her.

Personal experience - I was bullied by my older sister (still am!) and while I was doing quiet sabotage because I believed she was ruining my life by telling me to do stupid things (I was a dumb Karen) I learned she did a few awful things like talked behind another girls back she was rivals with. She actually had a burn book like the one in the movie and wrote some mean things about this girl, who she pretended to be best friends with.

I couldn't get over it. If she did that to one girl, what was she really doing with me when she was being nice?
But then I was the sneaky younger sister who read what she wasn't supposed to read. Like I read all my sisters Cosmpolitans when I was at an age I was too young to understand it, or do the things Cosmo said you had to do to attract guys. lol

FYI Cosmopolitan was a women's magazine with sealed sections. I don't know if it still exists but that was what women over the age of 16-17 were supposed to read to keep up with the latest fashions.

I was really an innocent like Cady Heron who had no idea how to navigate the adult world, and my sister did things big sisters do, take a little sister under her wing and try to make her like herself. Anyway...it didn't really work I stayed awkward and geeky and 'different' lol

You have no idea... Our language consists almost entirely of strange and weird words. And it varies almost from village to village. That's why the Germans hardly understand us at all.
