The question is simply does the sermon on the mount apply to believers, gentile
and jew alike?

Traditional christian faith says yes, HG says no.

No for me too. The sermon on the mount is a type of constitutional living when Christ is King of the earth ruling over the nations. He taught the Jews to pray that this kingdom would come to earth.

When Christians today try and apply the sermon on the mount to their own lives, they usually end up explaining the Scriptures instead of taking the literal interpretation.

I DO mock them for saying that perfectly following rules is a requirement for Salvation.

It is a very close position between saying our hearts desire to walk
as Christ walked and saying this is impossible so do not bother trying.

It is like saying cycling is important to getting out of a situation and
reaching your destination and saying you will fall off so do not bother
trying.

What believers are saying is walking in righteousness is life, and how well
you progress is our walk to which we are 100% commited.

Because we are saved we are commited, not our commitment effects our salvation.

As the same people are continually contributing we all know each others positions, so
I wonder about these statements.
 
When Christ appears, I will be like him, when I see him face to face.
Until then, I will keep marching toward the mark. But never be to proud to think I have made it.
I will live under Gods grace until then.
You have not seen Christ yet, If you think you are just like him, You are in serious trouble

So EG, we agree. It is always interesting having exchanges with you, because you want
to disagree with me, but actually stand for most of the same things, but appear to be unaware
of it.

You remind me of meeting a believer who was so keen to convert people, even if you told them
you were a believer they would just carry on.

But to admit this would be so difficult!!! lol

I haven't nor ever will say that. But, like others, I'm constantly accused of it.
 

1. Jesus lived from birth till death and did not go against God 1 time, he always put others above himself. and he never made 1 mistake.

Yet here we have people saying they can be just like him.see my problem. How can you claimm YOU KNOW JESUS, then say you ARE JUST LIKE HIM?

How do such outright liars get by with it?

What happens when they don't names? N O T H I N G. They're not warned, they're not scolded, & they're not banned.

It's one of the oldest, deceitful tricks in the book.

Why do they do it? 2 reasons:

  1. To start fights to get other people banned. EG has tried F O R E V E R to get PeterJens to say something bad just so he can report him.
  2. So they can deny & lie they ever said anything about "Stephen63". It happened to me just yesterday by G777. I was the only "such person" posting in a thread, & he came outta nowhere slamming them "legalists & "heretic hunters", talking about how evil they are. In less than 10 minutes he said he didn't say anything about me.

Deceit. Lies. Bearing false witness. These sins & more are done EVERY DAY to innocent people & nothing is done about it.

Then they have the brass to say they're forever saved & their sins aren't held against them.

To "those people": your sins are filling up a very huge book, and you WILL answer to God.
 
Didn't you just say this a couple of minutes ago regarding your feelings about Matthew 23? That you believe in loading believers down with a lot of rules that you don't keep yourself?

The best I can do is be grateful that Christ accepts me even though I fall WAY short of being like Him.
Here in red is another accusation against a member. What will be his next statement if someone in authority questions him about it?
Probably "I misunderstood what he said".

If you do, how's this one? Two brothers, (for I'm not PC at all, so I'm a bro), have come to you to tell you to stop preaching because what you preach is sin. Now what?

Under law,they had to keep the law without any help,JESUS had not yet come to earth,so then they would be brought into captivity to the law of sin because of the weakness of the flesh

Under law,Its all on the Individual but under Grace,give GOD ALL the credit but Its either law or Grace and not both.
so whats with all those prayers in the Hebrew bible when its all on them and no help from the Most High? so under grace when you sin or make a mistake do you put all the blame on the Most High?

what do you do with the passages where Jesus teaches keep His commands?

I just looked. Once again you see something that isn't there to prove who you are and how magnificent you are in all of it. No, he didn't. He merely had the audacity to disagree with you. And so, once again mocking with false charges.
 
It's a thin line walking between honoring one another and still honoring the truth. One I'm still learning how to walk. I will always support my positions with Scripture because that's why I believe them, but that doesn't mean everyone has to agree with me. I can still love you all even if you don't agree with me. I do get a little frustrated when people accuse me, but it's not like Jesus wasn't accused. And I'm sure I've done my own share as well. I'm bowing out of this thread. Sorry for any conduct that wasn't Christlike. I'm still growing and learning myself. Bless you all.
