There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke. (Pro 13:7-8)
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Mat 6:19-21)

When starting a thread it’s always proper to pose your views first rather than simply asking everyone for their view in an attempt to set up your “gotcha” moment.
I don't give my view first, and then give the answer. I already know what the text is saying, but I want to know if those of CC do. It is a real eye opener to view the answers that are given of each subject matter. Am I saying that I know all that there is to know? Of course not. But after 45 years a born again Christian, and study of God's Word, I do have some insights of truth that have come about through prayer and study of only the Word, and not relying on men's commentaries for doctrines.
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

If anybody goes by their wants above their needs does not have salvation, for they are putting their wants above the needs of people, and love is the fulfilling of the law.

That’s not what it means. It’s telling you some people live in mansions and drive fancy cars and look like they are a millionaire. Meanwhile, they are almost bankrupt, and their leased car is going to be repossessed. Others save all their money and spend very little, like misers, living well below their means. However, their savings account is huge.
The second verse means nobody is kidnaping a poor dude to get a ransom...there is none. Sometimes wisdom is just applicable for current living. No need to over spiritualize.

Let's start with the genre: it's a proverb, a short, pithy saying that contains generally-true principles and maxims. That frames what it could mean.
There are two parallelisms, one in each verse. Both speak of wealth. Verse 7 is discussing those who display the opposite of what they are; one in (possibly false) humility, and one in (possibly false) confidence or pride. It's unlikely that there is a deeper meaning to this; rather, it is an "observation proverb" - this is what you will see in the world.
Verse 8 is describing the sad reality that the more wealthy you are, the more likely your life and property will be sought by others - illegally.
This is a mixed community of new believers, seasoned believers, people who study extensively, people who don't, Christians, and non-Christians. You seem to be testing people to see if they measure up to whatever standard you have set. Frankly, that's not a good way to participate. It comes across as arrogant and self-righteous.

I've been in this place for a while and see this type come and go. They have some knowledge and test others. I think some self reflection on your motives is required, even after 45 years, yes.
I reiterate, share your insights first. And for the record, 45 years is a good start.
I have set up no "standard of my own" but questions of doctrine, from God's Word. Answer the questions regarding the text given, and not on scrambled egg responses. C'mon, we are brothers in the Lord, if any have an insight that is in line with the Word, give it. Stop all this nonsense responses that 1ST. Cor. 3: 1-3. speak about, so as to not apply any of it to ourselves.

The riches of the rich are temporal but the riches of the poor are eternal. The rich are prisoners of their wealth. Their life focus is on maintaining their temporal riches and obtaining more temporal wealth, the poor don't worry about the cares of this world.
Good answer. As you have said, the rich after death leave Earth with no eternal substance, the poor has laid up treasure in heaven for eternal reward. What we set our mind upon, are our "riches" or ransom, but the "poor", meaning the rich of this world, will not listen to advice to lay up something eternal. See the rich man example in Matthew 6: 19-21. KJV.
