I think the simplest answer is often the best. Like if you can't explain something to a child then you probably don't understand it yourself (stealing from Albert Einstein). I think when I enter the Kingdom of God and all those mysteries that I can't fathom the answer to become known to me, I'm gonna go 'oooohhhhhh. Of course! Don't know why I didn't think of that'.
This is an interesting subject, Angelsnow. My personal theory for the lack of compassion in today's modern society is what I'll call 'an over-abundance of convenience'. What that basically means is people don't need each other for anything anymore (outside of family and friends). If you're lost, you open google maps... if you need something you buy it at a store or have it delivered to your door.... If you want to talk to someone you can call or text a friend on your cellphone.... you don't even have to go to a bank to do banking anymore...
In other societies, people still need to interact with each other on a daily basis, or maybe it is part of their culture.
Anyway, that's my theory.

Just want to say i understand you.
I read 1 book of samuel.
There is a woman Hanna. With all the good advises I thought it was appropiate
to show just understanding. Its ok to cry about it. My sister been there too.
Im kinda new in my walk so I just want to share how many we are out there who go through
the same as you in diffrent ways. We are one in christ. But its very natural to long for children and the apostle Paul even
command it as the first natural option. But of course if you in prayer to Jesus will have him make you fit for a special task its also good.
But beware to burn your time in works for the works sake as like it would be a requirement for salvation.

The purpose of life for me can generally be summed up in what I call the 5 "F's" (listed in no particular order): Family, Friends, Fun, following my Faith and living Fruitfully.

Well I think I'm still having trouble finding the right words to express what I want to say, but I did want to respond to this:
I think the heart of this question is really more about who can I be deeply connected to and invest in when I have no spouse or children. And as I get older, I'm finding it more and more difficult to find opportunities to connect deeply with people. There are plenty of days when I feel lonely or irrelevant, but then I just have to remind myself about the opportunities I have: to give a compassionate word of advice to a fellow CCer who is hurting, to give some stupid little just because gift to someone I appreciate, to smile at a child at church or offer to keep an eye on the kid running around so their parents can talk to an adult for a bit, to invite another lonely single gal to lunch or a movie.
So I'm learning slowly to do my best to be a touch of God to whoever is around; to spread as much kindness, compassion, encouragement, and sometimes tough love as I can. And in return, even if I never marry and have kids, I do have a lot of people who care about me, and I about them, and I've made a lot of lives a little bit better. And this side of heaven, that will be enough.
In my experience the quickest way to connect with someone is to share in their pain or let them share in yours. Be the good listener and the one who always shows up when things are looking bleak and you'll find a lot of people to connect with. (Just be careful to know when to keep investing and when to cut ties with someone who is just going to be an emotional vampire and drain you. )

Seems pointless if put that inaccurately, more like. We weren't created to die. We were created to live and love and grow and share, and in doing so give glory to the one who created us and puts breath in our lungs everyday. Get started!

I believe that this is the middleclass/ American dream that advertisers are selling us.And they are very good at it.
Personally,I believe the stakes are very high.For the believer and unbeliever alike.We can win an eternal crown or fritter away our lives on fleeting pleasures.Unbelievers drink an ocean of wrath for a drop of pleasure.
While I am not opposed to enjoying the blessings God bestows on His children - my concern is are we settling for lesser pleasures?If God is the Source and Fountainhead of everything good....doesn't it make sense to fight to let a love of Him displace any other idol?

The Purpose of Life is basically to risk it all for God. To take your life to a level where nothing matters but Him. When you get there....then you'll know there's purpose in living.
