The purpose is to bind a man and a woman together in the eyes of God so they can biblically have babies (no sex outside of marriage) and so that the children will have a mother and a father to raise them.
Seems like the real answer when you read Paul now that the world has been populated and developed is to appease the flesh for people who are weaker.
But the argument would be made if everyone was strong in the spirit, the whole species would have died off a long time ago, and maybe only a handful of people would be in heaven.

The holy spirit is actually very strong people that arent ready or willing to receive cant handle it. It is very interesting that God made men (and women) weak. You think He might have done it on purpose?

The purpose of marriage is different for men and women. as men and women are designed by god to do specific tasks. He wired the brains of men and women to think very differently from each other. I could go into a long discourse on this but i will keep it short and simple instead.
A man gets married because he needs a companion and helpmate. (a helpmate is a woman who understands that she is to become one with her husband in everything, and serve him!) He needs a woman to cook, clean, do his laundry, and take care of him when he is sick. and to raise kids with. He needs a cheer leader when he is down, a comforter when he is depressed, and someone who will continually build him up so that he can be the best man that he can be!
A woman needs a man who can take care of her needs, (provide a place to live, provide her with cloths, food, etc.) she needs a man who can be romantic with her. who will protect her. who will take care of her when she is sick. and most importantly to women; someone who can get her pregnant, so that she can raise kids! she needs a man who loves her and values her and her homemaking skills!
the list is much longer for both sexes, but what is given above is the basics that are needed.
I have done an intense and thorough study on what the bible says concerning what the bible says about male and female roles in society. i think i will post it here in the near future.

Marriage is to keep us from committing ADULTERY. Hebrews 13:4, If you are right with GOD, YOU Can't be with a woman that your not married to. GOD bless as HE sees fit
Jesus set the example for us to follow. He went to Calvary to sacrifice Himself for His Bride.
If either parent abandons a child it is very hard on them. They expect both of their parents to be there for them.
Sometimes i am blown away by the misinformation presented. Some people really take scripture and twist it in ways i cant even fathom.

Apart from God: "all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes" (Judges 17:6) This was a recipe for disaster.
God made them two so He could join them back together again and unite them as one. This is to serve as an example of how God wants to be united with us. We are told that Jesus is the Groom and we are the Bride.

If you marry that doesnt make you somehow better. Marriages still need God at the centre otherwise they dont work. If you are single that means you still need God too. But you are probably better able to cope being single, though Paul boasted of his weakness...not his strength, why because he needed God.
if you read about marriages in the Bible, even if someone was married didnt even guarantee they could have children either. In so many instances, God had to open the womb.

You are correct n saying that God must be at the center of marriage or it won't work.
You have a twisted view point. Not once did I say you don't need God. I'm not sure where you read that in my post. You obviously need to stop reading between lines that aren't there. You straight up said men are weak and that's why we need marriage. It actually takes a significantly stronger person not to marry than to marry. You got some twisted view points.
Pardon me, ma'm, for guessing - and I'm sorry for your loss - but you just don't seem like you're all that weak. You may feel that way, but I think a strong man's muscle lies in a strong woman's heart. God speed ms. silversings.
I don't even understand what you're saying you're answering your own question then contradicting yourself. Exactly, men are weak as they cannot remain single, so they marry. I don't even understand the argument? You're agreeing that men are weak and can't stay unmarried, and a strong person stays unmarried, yet you call the view twisted?
