Cool those beans brother, that's why I specified I don't know where the line is drawn in relation to. I vaguely remember one testimony explained how some musicians just use it as a gig. They eventually fall out of worship and just show up for the paycheck and whatever else their motives are. And the testimonies I take a peek at cover a wide array of corruption in the Churches. None of which focus solely on music in the Church.
Of course that happens outside of music too. In 'day to day' Christians. In conservative pastors. Many times people isolate stories that Do happen in music as proof that some music is bad, while ignoring the fact that the same sorts of things happen in all areas of the church. Even the most conservative sects. So is this really an evidence that it's the music? Or just a convenient way to put the focus where a person wants it, but only if they ignore everything else going on around them?
Yes, there are fakes and those misguided in the music sector of the church. But that doesn't discredit those who are genuine, or the entire sector. If we applied that mentality to the church as a whole then the church would have to completely cease to exist.
I actually read an article by a former band member of a popular Christian metal band. He had since joined a ministry aimed at helping Christian bands with food and other needs. But also with helping provide them with guidance, both as a band, and spiritually. He stated that many of the Christian bands start out as sincere, but being on the road they don't have access to a lot of spiritual support. And during the course of touring they hear a lot of arguments against their faith they are not equipped to handle and it causes them to wander or question spiritually. In reality Christian bands should be viewed as missionaries, not as evil. They go to the places most Christians won't and give a message to people that most Christians would just assume the people there deserve hell. As well as providing something for Christians who enjoy such things, but don't want to put themselves into secular music.
How many popular pastors have been proven false? Look how many pastors were busted as having memberships on Ashley Madison and gay dating sites. Yet no one declares that being a pastor is wrong.
Corruption in the church has gone on since the beginning. Cheats. Deceivers. To isolate one part of the church and call those kinds out as evidence that that part of the church is 100% wrong is pure hypocrisy to those that would say it.
Also, sorry if my previous post was a little harsh, i had just woken up and was still a bit grumpy. Not the best time for me to post on such things haha.
