When or why do you think it should practiced?

I'd prefer just to hear your thoughts, but if you insist on debating please don't bicker. I'm pretty sure I don't have to tell many of members here how aggravating bickering is.

I've seen it in action! It was crazy. There was a lady who is a phrophetes (Like legitamate that has known my pastors wife for years) and there was a lady that came that had a serious issue with her arm. There was something wrong with it to where it was really badly out of alignment. The lady prayed for her and barely had her hand on the arm, and I saw it extend straight out. Her arm was relaxed too, you would have seen strain on the person's hand if she was extending it herself. It was awesome.

Also I think that God can work over time too. We have a little guy named Dustin. When he was 10 he came to our camp. He had had childhood cancer, I think bone cancer. If I remember correctly he wasn't slated to live more than two years or something like that. But the Holy Spirit led our youth leader to have a prayer circle for him. Dustin is now 16, and although he can have issues he has had a staggeringly great quality of life ever since that night.

Also he has grown like a tree, which I assume with his kind of cancer would have been very unlikely,

the answer is almost in the title "FAITH" .... expand to "Faith in Yahweh(God the Creator) by grace through faith in Yahshua(Yahweh's Salvation)"

i.e. not faith in faith. not faith in men. not faith in voodoo or other formula's.

do as Jesus told His disciples "spend a lot of time with your Father, quiet time listening to Him and laying everything before Him , giving Him thanksgiving in all your requests,
and
gradually, your focus will change from yourself to Him." then do as He says. (always).

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't have included the why part.

The reason I included it is because I believe God helps our loved ones when pray for their healing, but I think God presents opportunities for the person in question loved one(s) to be healed with medicine, and that the person in question may ignore opportunity in favor of relying on faith alone.

I'd like to see something like that. I've only ever saw that kind of thing on tv. There was something on the 700 club about it.

no matter what a person chooses to do, FAITH must be in GOD, not in man --- and no, man's medicine has not taken the place of GOD to heal people. in fact, man's medicine has caused astronomically more harm than help....

of course, those who put their faith in someone other than the one true GOD in JESUS graciousness, will argue about this.... they're wrong, but they will argue.... so if you want to know more about God's way of healing, natural and inexpensive, search the web and pray a lot and keep on seeking for TRUTH, and God's Promise is that you will find .....

If every believer and every church was doing what they should be doing, there would be no need for such an event as a "faith healing service".

Mark 16:17-18
These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. [SUP]18 [/SUP]They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”

I agree with you, that person should trust in God to make a way. I was just giving an example of how God may present an opportunity to someone so that they may be healed, which may require some action from that person, I know that this isn't always the case though . I do believe in faith healing, but God also helps to heal in other ways.

this was actually accomplished in ACTS, and somewhat in other assemblies in the NT, and through the last 2000 years in the persecuted (by the rcc heresy) church and underground church in communist countries (in china today for the last several decades at least)....
but it's not accepted nor acceptable by the leadership in most groups today.

more like malachi now, 2 or 3 or a few believers meeting together and talking about Jesus, ... ... ... (in person, not online)

It's acceptable and accepted in good bible-believing churches who are Spirit-filled and Spirit-led...everywhere.

Dumb question alert:
Faith healing? Is that like going to one of those grand gatherings when some dude yells a lot and lays hands on a person, who then falls backwards?
or...
Is that praying for healing and God really does?

Both, actually.

Both, actually.
Ah, okay.

I dispise faith healing services. Everyone I've ever known who "got healed" by them, didn't get healed by them. They were simply told to trust God and keep claiming the healing. Considering one of those people I knew was bipolar, that meant she went off her drugs, and BAM! All hell broke loose.

Another person who was "healed" was my dad. He went in as a nonbeliever, but then he was "slain in the spirit," and then... nothing. He woke up, went home, and is still sure Catholicism saves. I'd think the real Holy Spirit would do a bit more than knock him out for a little bit.

People with withered hands walked away with withered hands proclaim their hand was no longer withered. A sheer con game that really takes it's toll on people.

BUT, God healing? I love that. When hubby was in the hospital with a broken back (but not paralyzed. Bad enough that his doctor dubbed him Quasimodo, but not paralyzed lol), he couldn't sleep that night because his roommate was moaning in pain too much. The man had gout. His wrist and ankles were stretched out and puffy so much all he could do was moan and groan.

Then God told hubby to pray for the guy. Hubby, obedient man that he is, told the guy he was going to pray for him, left the room, went to the smoke room (which tells how long ago this was lol), prayed, smoked, prayed some more and returned to their room. The guy was still moaning in pain. Hubby was confused.

God told him, "No, I mean lay hands on him and pray."

Hubby told the guy, he needed to lay hands on hi and pray.

The guy said, "I've been waiting for you."

He did. The guy's pain went away enough that he fell asleep. So hubby could sleep.

Bright and and early the next day, (maybe not so right since the sun was barely up), he woke up to some guy shouting in the hallway. The shouter was running around to nurses, doctors, and anyone available to tell him, "God healed me. I don't hurt anymore. God healed me!"

He came back into the room. His wrist and ankles were still severely swollen, but they simply didn't hurt anymore. Doctors had no idea how to explain that in any other way, but God healed him.

Healed Guy left the hospital before hubby did, and hubby was only there 2-3 nights.

So, yes. No doubt. God heals. Given hubby was healed of his broken back by six months in a back brace, we also know God doesn't always heal us immediately. Given hubby and I are both disabled, we're absolutely sure the next body we get won't have these annoying pains and decay.

Definitely looking forward to that!

That's an amazing story! I wish my obedience was like your husband's.

Ritualistic and/or excessively overt communal prayer...yeah, I don't find it any more effective than non-ritualistic or non-overt prayer. Some cases seem like more style than substance, even. Ultimately, it rests with God's will.

Basically I believe in it. If you watch a program called, The 700 Club, you'll see stories, hear testimony of people being healed by God. I do believe in doctors but of course God is the ultimate healer.
