Yea, I am upset that you didn't PM me at all Dianna! From now on everytime you don't PM me I am going to bite the head off of a gummy bear. How's that!!!! :p

LOL! If you had said that to me when I was 5, you wouldn't be here right now.I could carry a gummy bear with me for hours and pretend it was my pet.

Awww, now I can't possibly bite their heads off after reading that Ms. K. :(

I used to be in the chat rooms more often before, but now I rarely go in there...sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's not, sometimes I feel awkward. I think I have talked in the mic like 3 times in all the time I've been in CC, I either PM or chat on the main if I see a friend or the topic is interesting.

Another issue I've noticed with chat, is that it tends to provide a place for anti-social types with strong opinions to congregate. So you get a few dozen of those types in a room together for hours and hours a day for many weeks, and well. They aren't called anti-social for a reason!

So true.

Some days I love coming into the chatrooms because majority of people I know I have developed online friendships with and I love just hanging out or discussing things. But othertimes, yes you do get those types. But Ive discovered the remedy - the minute I realise an argument is getting heated by one or more overly opinionated anti social types I just say:

"Who wants to play bible trivia!!!!"

I also give prizes to the idiot strangers who don't read my PM box (and I hate to say this but they all come from a Middle Eastern nation).
Prizes usually come in the form of:

Third Place - They get a polite but very hard worded message from my husband asking them to leave me alone.
Second place (if they ignore my husbands message) - I name and shame them publically.
1st place (if they ignore my husband and me naming them publically and they STILL don't stop), then I report them to mods.

If they win 1st prize I have a sneaking suspicion they get their membership removed only for them to use their other backup name or make another one then send me annoying messages AGAIN...

*sigh

"Back in the day", they also used to do fun things like play Bible trivia--I might have only been able to answer 3 questions out of 20, and I might have answered behind everyone else, but it was a blast, even at 3 AM.

If you come into the bible study rooms between 8 -11pm most evenings Auckland time you can bet you'll hear me hosting bible trivia :D

Probably a minority opinion, but I miss the old chat days before the whole web cam/voice chat thing dominated the attention of the main room. I liked the good-old-fashioned text speak, it seemed less distracting.
For a short while there was a text only room, but no one used it and I guess they got rid of it cause it wasn't popular.

Yeah I know you can mute it, but it's not the same. It seems people don't pay as much attention to you now if you are too shy to voice.

I tend to be more of a typer than a voice chatter too, Relena. I won't fight for the mic unless it's important. I do like voice when there aren't many people in the room though.

in my case I'm stuck with old fashioned dialup internet and the result is that I can't get the chat rooms to work if I have it set to hear speaking or see the webcam, which of course means I miss about 80-90% of the conversations, so I see folks responding to something that was said by mic, but have no idea what it was so I really can't join in the conversation.

I know this is off topic but, why is it that every web developer assumes that everyone has highspeed internet access? Am I really the only one who doesn't have hs internet?

How come u still have dial-up? Is there no broadband access available in your area? I'm just curious because even cell phones have broadband these days.

I rarely go in the chat rooms.
but I like CC chat rooms , they are better than other rooms in the internet (they are safer)
I usually go to the lounge (but i only like to listen ppl on the mic) and to the biblestudy (its interesting most of the time when ppl talk about only one subject) and youtube
And i usually visit all the rooms for few minutes, when im in one of them i start to be very curious about the others :D .
But to speak in the mic i prefer the rooms in which are only few ppl.

I've found myself unemployed for the last 8 months, and had to move back in with my mother who is also unemployed on disability and dialup is all we can afford. This fact is playing mary hob with a few things that I used to enjoy when I had spare time.

Oh i'm sorry to hear that. I've been unemployed for some time too. There are some companies offering cheap broadband for low-income families now like Comcast. Only about $10 a month if you qualify. That's probably comparable to what you're paying for dial-up.
