Is it appropriate to tell, to surrender your pride or surrender yourself is to humble thyself?
I don't think so. Those things are good to do but scripture says to humble oneself is to deny yourself thereby afflicting your soul. Fasting.

Jesus told that young rich man that if he gives away everything he owns and gives to the poor that he will have treasure in Heaven.
I own my house but I'm not there yet to be able to sell it ad give it all to the poor yet. I was homeless for two months one time even though I like camping, being homeless isn't for me. Not that I don't have faith in the Lord, but is in my shortcomings. I help people, but not my whole much!

Jesus only told the rich man to give everything away. Notice that Jesus didn't direct that instruction to everybody else???
So you're free and clear! Don't sell your house!

Thank you, as we all go through things here on earth to learn contentment in all things, at least me learning daily, willingly.
Homeless, not good for me either. Been there too, here on earth.
I, see to give everything to God Father and Son as Won (One), for us all at the resurrection, after death first took away sin for us all to be able to approach God in Spirit and Truth presently and life forever in God's Spirit and Truth, learning from God (1 John 2:27). I have given to the poor, not to have treasures in Heaven or for anything, only because I am saved by God, secured by God, I believe, therefore I will not deny God, and yes have felt like to do so through troubles, yet can't, and I cannot explain that, "I" just can't, haven't and am humble in it, not proud over it. Thankful to God's Son Jesus for me and the entire world of people, good or bad.
I see being willing, to give everything, I see that is what Jesus did, gave his all, everything, includes his flesh that he was born in. Such as the parable in Luke 21, she gave her all to God, everything, read it, see it, digest it from God to yourself, thank you God.
That does not mean I give everything away, as religion seems to teach people to do, and so people do and are trapped in that.
Thoughts, pouring in, did I do enough, will I do enough, can I do enough?
The answer is no, no one can or will
Lets look at Matthew 19, where that rich man asked Jesus, what he must do to enter Heaven?
Jesus said obey the entire Law of Moses. The Man replied he had from birth on. then he asked, (knowing in himself, he did not yet measure up)
What more must I do? He Was told give up all you have, sell it, give to the poor, take up your cross and follow me, then you will have treasures in Heaven.
That rich man not able to let go of all he had walked away, defeated, sad
The disciples saw this, and so Asked Jesus
Matthew 19:22-24
Authorized (King James) Version
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Matthew 19:25
Authorized (King James) Version
25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Therefore, no other one than God, as Son could ever do truth perfectly. I need God and see everyone also needs God, since not one person other than Son could do Law perfectly. Which is done once for us all to be made new in Father's Spirit and Truth, and love all, not a few, all in the same mercy and truth given us to do it, seeing no credit to self or anyone else. All Father and Son as Won (One) fro us to be new and do the same willingly, not having to do it, Choosing, chose to go it as led by God not self or anyone else.
This person, the rich one who walked away sad, was told to be willing, (Not had to) be willing to give when called by Dad to give.
It, is a willingness to get led by God when to give and when not to give.
Love you you from God to us all, I see, respond not create, be a nobody, seeing God is all in all in love and mercy to us all first to respond to in Thanksgiving and praise to do the same for all, not just those of Faith.
I give as led by God, not self or anyone else. there are times, when not to give, do you trust God to say no and not know why, and yet do it as led?
Learning this at least, I bet, and thank you for belief to God that will not quit
Ecclesiastes, a very in-depth book written by Solomon about trust, beyond understanding to God, without God in one's life, all else is futile
Glad you are in belief to God in the risen Son Jesus for you too
Paul taught us to be content in any situation, just follow Jesus. In one place it says, emulate our Lord and take on His characteristics. And I keep noticing that He is very long suffering towards us. So in order to learn how to be longsuffering ourselves, well, we must suffer long!
Scripture backs it up that He isn't promising a la de da life on our path. The world will hate you and turn on you, there will be trials and tribulations and so forth. But in the long run it is only for our education. And though I sit in poverty, I grow rich in the Word.

rivers of living water are flowing through you, as you are sincere and see contentment in all things, at least willing to learn this, thank you, me too
it has been a long walk off a short pier daily
In Hebrew,
The word "Humble" is synonymous with miserable....which is the name for Egypt. (Mitzrayne....accent on second syllable)
Which is similar to humiliate....to be made sport of, laughed at by peers.
Moses was the most humble man in all of Israel....or the most miserable. Both readings are correct. And immediately following it tells of a story how his sister tried to usurp his authority.
I am elated you are reading the Bible to know God through it all
I see the entire Bible as a Gigantic love letter from God to us all
I see Jeremiah 29:11, for us all, not a few and some view it as that way. can't be truthful to me, since all need God to lead and be perfect by God,, not self. Which by Son, Jesus he has paved the way for us all to choose to believe Gd and not forsake God and do things our own way(s)
Hebrews 7:11-12
Even Jesus said "Pick up YOUR cross and follow me"That's something that I noticed. God never tells us in scripture that He will humble us. He told us to humble ourselves.
Even Jesus said "Pick up YOUR cross and follow me"
Crucifixions were all about humiliation as much as being about extreme slow torture.
The humiliation was an essential part of the crucifixion process. The participants were paraded through busy, narrow streets where everyone was in your face....you obviously did not have a smile or pleasant look....especially after being beaten and whipped. People usually spit at you as you carried your crosspiece.
Then, you were hung on the cross naked so everyone could judge your genitalia. Your posture obviously was not beneficial to your appearance either. (You were being executed) your legs were not as straight as most pictures and statues make it out to be. They were really bent to where it looked like you were squatting or getting up from squatting at best while catching your breath. (Your legs really burned in this position and your shoulders became dislocated often...causing more pain)
Defecation was also common while being crucified especially if you had eaten in the last 24 hours....(last supper...big meal)
The whole process was said to have taken place at at the "place of the skull" which is a rock formation at a very busy crossroads just outside of Jerusalem. It currently serves as a bus station because of the crossroad feature.
So everyone could see you hanging there naked, slowly suffocating, covered in your own feces.
Most of us dont like to go out in public when we have a sniffle for the red nose and puffy eyes. This is much much worse.
Any questions?

I know the feeling Brother! There was a time that, I had everything.I had an excellant wife and two strong sons and my own business and life was good. And every bit of what I had was chopped down to the ground in less than a year. It's like God said, I'm tired of waiting on Edward to return to me and He took it all away and after I still didn't reach out to Him, He allowed me to be be put in a position looking upon certain death! That got my attention! I had an epileptic seizure doing 70mph on the highway. And I reached out to him and He saved me. I'm all busted up from rolling the truck 3 times, but that thorn in my side keeps me reading and praying!
There are no Atheists in Foxholes! So here I am, 16 years later! That was a good lesson on suffering and gratitude that I got there, and in the long run I still profited with the Lord. Just not currency profit, lol!
And when we do we are walking with God, and God is walking with us. so no wonder He told us that we don't have to fear anything on earth because with God with us, who can stand against us. even if I die, it's not dying in crossing over to life. So to die is to gain like Paul said.
and if people don't have enough faith to walk in no fear, then they can get them some more faith and as much as they want and need. Scripture says Faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17) and that means both rhema's and the written scriptures, so you get the word out and read it. And read it more later. And tomorrow too. Then you take break and listen to a sermon video to hear his word and then read some more.
It's weird because sometimes the word that i'm reading sounds like it's talking to me directly, and that passage jumps off the page and into your heart. Then we know, that was rhema. The Holy spirit pointing something out to us about ourselves. What it amounts to is, when we read our bibles, they are reading us at the same time, through the Holy Spirit who was sent to lead us into all truth. It happens during videos sometimes too. That Pastor sounded like he was talking to me! And he was with the HS.
So I think it's possible that many people fall far short of realizing the crucial importance in reading their bibles more. It's a key, just like Prayer is (and Fasting!).
"Humiliation"Humiliation and Humble have different meanings. Humiliation may make you humble but it's still different. I don't think I could ever recommend that someone pray for God to make them humble. Because you will likely be greatly humiliated!
