What Kind of Popcorn/Favorite Snack are YOU Bringing to the Next Forum Hot Topic Event?

  • Kettle corn/mixture -- why choose just one kind of naughty when you can have them all at once?!

  • Candy without chocolate -- I'm so edgy, all I need is the sugar. Adding caffeine would be overkill!!

Oh my.

While I can't say I'll be fighting anyone over these...

Don't worry, Brother Shittim! You are not alone!

Even the Bible says, "Even if my mother and father (and forum friends who don't want to eat herring in wine sauce) abandon me, the Lord will hold me close." (Psalm 27:10)

Those fish Jesus roasted over the fire and shared with the disciples?
I have heard from my Scandinavian relatives it was actually a jar of these, what a sad mistranslation.:(

Yet another egregious misstep from The Message Bible, I'm pretty sure.

(Quick!! Someone start an argument over Bible translations -- so that we have a LEGITIMATE reason to bring all this food!)

Actually if this many people are bringing this much food, I guess it is left up to me to do the other obvious thing. Sell tickets.

Lol!

I love all the comradery and enthusiasm people are bringing to this thread!!

I'm envisioning forming a group "The CC Fighting, Food, & Fellowship Committee," where we "scouts" would keep a lookout for "passionate discussions" across the forum.

A group text/message alert would be sent, and all available members would then descend on such threads -- with all our food and fixin's in hand -- and basically form a big Christian flash mob, to watch and observe.

The best part is, we wouldn't have to worry about the stress of trying to organize or set up events to go to or sell tickets for -- we're bound to find something else at any given time (Seoulsearch checks her watch; she's guessing 15-minute intervals between new rumbles -- tops.)

Proceeds from ticket sales could be split to cover costs for those who bring snacks, and any remaining funds could be donated to CC.

Aramaic word for "roasting" can also be translated as "go get the Ronco can snaffler". Just a joke on this light hearted thread, brother.:):coffee::giggle:(y)

Really, The Message Bible translation?

If we're going to start an argument, we might as well swing for the fences, Sister! ⚾🥊😎

(Besides, if the fight doesn't last at least 3 pages, we'll have brought all this food for nothing.) 😭

Hey Everyone!!

I generally like more playful titles -- things like, "Let's Get Ready to RUMMMMBLE!!!" or, "What To Do When the Thread You're Reading Turns into A World Wrestling Event and Full-Contact Sport! (Why, Bring Snacks of Course!)"

However, being sensitive to the fact that new people Googling for a Christian Forum might not realize the titles are all in jest, I have to undergo the difficult task of restraining myself. (It's a full-time job -- just ask my family.)

Here on the forum, we know we're bound to run into some "hot button" topics, twists, or turns in the threads that are going to result in the verbal equivalent of The Jerry Springer show. Some are so committed to these events, they even talk about bringing snacks!

A recent conversation in one of the threads had me thinking about exactly what kinds of snacks people are going off to get.

@ThereRoseaLamb is absolutely correct -- people often talk about bringing popcorn -- but WHAT KIND of popcorn?

And Lady @Magenta makes an excellent point -- exactly HOW SPICY are we Christians allowed to have our popcorn -- without verging on the edge of SIN?!

I hope every answers both the poll and posts in the thread so that we can find out!! :D Answers will be multiple choice and visible to others. Please note, the poll system only allows about 10 answers so I try my best within the limits I'm given. Many answers won't make it, so come back and tell us WHY you chose what you did, or tell us about the snack YOU would choose that isn't on the list!

Mandatory Disclaimer -- This is NOT meant to demean or put down the "hot button" topics we see here -- especially the ones we see discussed REPEATEDLY. We know they're a necessary and vital part of the community, but they almost always get HEATED.

This thread is simply meant to be a lighthearted discussion of what some of us choose to snack on while we follow along.

Oh, P'shaw. That peanut butter thread wasn't even controversial! Everybody's like, yeah that's good! No controversy, lol. And I never even brought Orange Marmalade into the mix!
