But when I came to know the Lord Jesus through God’s revelation (Matthew 16:15–17), from then on I no longer put my trust in any person (Jeremiah 17:5) for the truth of God’s word. Instead, God taught me how His promise is fulfilled. I realized that I should ask God Himself what He wants me to seek and when I do seek it, it will be found according to His promise.
God answered my question through His word. What He wants us to seek is His kingdom.
MATTHEW 6:33
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
And I asked God again what He meant by saying that His kingdom must be sought first?
In my reading of the Holy Scriptures, this is where the Lord led me.
GENESIS 2:18
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
What was clear to my understanding was that the man being referred to here is Adam. But because God taught me to always ask Him, I asked Him again who the man He was referring to is?
I was surprised by God’s answer to me about the man He referred to about whom it was said that it is not good for him to be alone. He led me to it, and I read it in the book of Isaiah.
Because the man He was referring to is Himself.
ISAIAH 54:5
5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
Once again, I asked God what He meant by saying that He is alone, and what this has to do with His command to “Seek first the kingdom of God.”
I felt as though I saw myself in what Mary Magdalene did sitting at the Lord’s feet to listen to His words.
LUKE 10:39
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
And it was as if the Lord began to tell a story about His loneliness, saying it was not good, and how this relates to His command, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.”
According to what God revealed, it is not good for Him to be alone, so He established a kingdom that will be made up of souls who believe in Him.
They are the people who humble themselves before God, and through this, they come to know the Lord Jesus according to the revelation of God the Father.
MATTHEW 16:15-17
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona:
for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
And in knowing the true Jesus as recognized by the Apostles, they will also come to know God the Father.
JOHN 8:19
19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father:
if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
And in knowing God the Father, their sins will be forgiven according to the promise of God the Father.
JEREMIAH 31:34
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord:
for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for
I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Therefore, the thief on the right side of the Lord (when Jesus was crucified), although he was sinful and had not repented of his past sins, was saved because he humbled himself and recognized the Lord Jesus who was beside him. In doing so, he also came to know God the Father, and his sins were forgiven, which led to his salvation.
LUKE 23:42-43
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee,
Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
