Hi guys! I went into virtual chat room hosted by Unitarians. They asked me what role does God the Father have in the trinity. It kind of stumped me. I mean I know what Jesus has done, and I kind of understand the Holy Spirit, but was unsure how to answer his question.

God the Father is the ultimate authority. Everything that Jesus does is what the Father wanted.
This is how I see the Holy Trinity--Father, Son and Holy Ghost:
The Father is Spirit; He is light and Glory. Further, He is the MIND of God; the one who makes ALL decisions on Everything.
The Son is the "Word of God"; many times Jesus said, That which I hear of the Father, I speak. Jesus is also the physical form of God.
The Holy Ghost is Ghost and dwells with us. He is also the HANDS of God that does the works.
Right now, all power and authority have been given to Jesus till His enemies are put under His feet. Then when Judgement Day is finished, Jesus will relinquish that power back to God. The Holy Spirit I see as an extension of the Father like your hands are an extension of you.
The Father begot the Son.
The Father gives words and commands to the Son.
The Father originates a will that the Son obeys.

1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him.
Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
The Bible says there is one God the Father not a trinity.
People should understand what the Bible is saying.
Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Think it is a joke.
When the Bible says one God it means one God.
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Jesus is God.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
The Son shall be called the everlasting Father.
John 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
If a person has seen Jesus they have seen the Father.
Revelation 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
Revelation 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him.
1 throne in heaven not 2 which is the throne of God and the Lamb, God in the glorified body of the man Christ Jesus.
Romans 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.
Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.
The Son is the man Christ Jesus.
Let us make man in our image.
Adam made in the image of God.
Adam made in the figure of Christ.
The image of God is the image of Christ.
The Word is the plan of God to come in the future in flesh.
God created Adam in the image He would show up in the future an innocent nature in flesh.
So let us make man in our image has to include the man Christ Jesus.
It is not speaking of a trinity but a prophetic statement to the coming Son of God.
Baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Those are not names but titles and name is singular.
Jesus said He came in the name of the Father.
The Son inherited the name Jesus.
The Holy Spirit comes in the name of Jesus.
Jesus is the name.
Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans baptized in the name of Jesus.
All we do in word or deed do all in the name of Jesus.
Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.
Right hand of God.
God's right hand represents power, wisdom, and salvation.
The mediator between God and men is the man Christ.
God exalted the man Christ Jesus to be at His right hand and when His enemies are conquered then He will no longer be at the right hand.
Jesus is not sitting on a throne next to the Father.
The only person we will see in heaven is Jesus which if you have seen Him you have seen the Father.
One God who is a Holy Spirit, and Father is a title for God, and the Son is the man Christ Jesus.
Father- Creator and parent of the saints.
Son- God's visible relationship to the saints and Him in physical activity.
Holy Spirit- God's invisible relationship to the saints and Him in invisible activity.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
"Our image" represents the three parts of God--the Holy Trinity.
And again,
John 14:7-10
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

This also shows that the Father and Son are one.
And one more,
John 17:20-22
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
This again shows the Father and Son as one, and we become one with all three parts of God through the Holy Ghost.
