Hello everyone, at the moment I truly need advice of what to do. Please don't answer half-heartily, I have been praying to God about this for weeks and I'm still not sure what I should do. This is my story (sorry if it's too long):

I am from Venezuela, but my parents are living in Buenos Aires at the moment because of my dad's work. Last November I was accepted to Texas A&M (my dream university) therefore that's where you can find me now. I took the offer mainly because at the time I was having an awful fight with my dad and I wanted to stay away from him, I recognize that was a very bad decision from my part. First two weeks I got to A&M I was absurdly happy, I felt like I was it the right place, but not much later I started feeling lonely (and I hadn't been too close to God because I was ashamed of something I did last October (also what caused the fight between my dad and I).

I felt miserable most of February, but on the last week a friend of mine that I had met a year ago started talking to me, he was in Houston (only hour and a half away)! We had had a crush on each other but never really had the courage to take the next step. Thanks to him I started getting close to God and I am now where I used to be before greatly sinning against God. I have been extremely happy with him, and we started dating, having a long distance relationship with God as our center: we pray every night together, we respect each other, we read the bible together, we encourage each other with everything, among many other wonderful things. I feel like he is THE ONE for me, the man that God chose for me to spend the rest of my life with.

It seems like there is nothing wrong but the thing is that I miss my family beyond words! My family means everything to me, and I can't go on a day without missing them or crying a bit cause I want to go home, to where they are. And they area always telling me how I should go back to Buenos Aires and study there, even my dad asks my mom everyday why it is that I'm not over there with them. This is really breaking up my heart each time I think about it.

I have been begging to God to please show me the way, tell me what it is that He wants me to do, but I haven't gotten a clue! I don't know if I should stay here in Texas A&M and make a future with my boyfriend whom I feel is the man God wants for me, or if I should go back to Buenos Aires and live with my family.

Please help me. I need advise and different points of views about what I should do. If any of you could please pray about it I would truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart for I know that only God has the right answer!

God Bless all of you!

I met my wife on-line 12 years ago. We had a wonderful courtship of several months with phone calls and actual letters. I was living in Florida and she was in Maine. We fell in love and I flew up to Maine and brought her down to Florida and a couple months later we were married. Before this, I had been divorced for 18 lonely years. I did not want to find another woman because I knew I would make another bad choice so I prayed for 3 years to God for a suitable wife who would love me with all of her heart. After 3 years in Florida I lost my good job. My wife was very lonely for her family in Maine so out of love for my wife we moved there. It was 8 hard years away from my family but my deep love was for my wife so I had to make a sacrifice. After a few years in Maine her severe arthritis was the cause for her going to a nursing home. I would visit her every day as she was the love of my life. She was only 59 years old when she died in February of this year. I was faithful my entire marriage and was there for her at the moment that she died.

You have obviously allowed God to steer you to the right man. I believe that you should trust God in this and pursue this relationship. God will certainly let you know if you should end the relationship but from what you have written it seems that this is God's desire for your heart. Trust in God and be happy in love and maybe for life. Take this relationship as far as God allows or you may regret ending the relationship for the rest of your life. I have said a prayer for you.

So your dilemma is to obey God or not? Yet you say you don't 'have a clue'. You believe this is who God wants you to be with, but God isn't giving you answers? Or is it that God is answering you and you aren't listening? Because you have answered your own question in this one paragraph.

I just caution you to be more certain that God is leading you to this man. So many people say this, but it seems more often to be their desires, not Gods leading. So if you are 100% certain this is Gods leading, then God has already answered you, you just aren't listening.

Thank you very much. I hadn't really thought about it that way... But I am sure that God has been trying to get me together with my boyfriend because we met in Perth, Australia (it can't be coincidence for him and I to live so close by) and also because we see in each other everything we have wanted in our partner. Also my boyfriend was one year praying to God that we would be able to start a relationship. We lead each other to God, and always help the other's faith grow. If those aren't signs of God telling me "this is your man" then I don't know what is. :)

Your love story sounds truly amazing, and it's really inspiring how strong you were about it! I appreciate your advice from my bottom of my heart, and am very grateful for your prayer. I'll stay with him until I feel that the Lord is telling me otherwise. Thank you very much and may God bless you sir!

Hello Christina - I am not sure how old you are, how often you see your boyfriend, your dreams, etc...but when the scriptures talk about being equally yoked, its meaning is profound. What are your talents, your desires for the Lord, what are his - are they in alignment with the will of God....there's a book called, Is He The One....by Steve Ar....(I don't remember his last name) I suggest that you read that book before making any life changing decisions. Who you marry does really matter if you Love God and want to live according to Godss plans and purposes for your life.
