tapes have only 2 sides

An 8-track tape has 8 magnetic tracks on the same side of the tape - which are functionally divided into 4 stereo channels.
The tape is made so that it is continuous. It will play "forever" without having to remove the tape from the player.
Normal play goes through the 4 channels in sequence and then "starts over" at channel 1 again.
Most of the players had a control for moving the read head to the next channel in sequence (back to channel 1 if on channel 4) at the touch of a button.

My use of the words 'track' and 'channel' may be a little confusing. For 'historical' reasons, they are somewhat interchangable in a weird kind of way.
Whereas today we use the word 'track' to indicate an individual section of a recording - such as a song on an album - it is used in this way with regard to magnetic tape for 'electronic' reasons.
And, whereas we might use 'channel' to indicate the Left and Right sub-parts of a recorded track, I am using it here to indicate a form of recorded track as a whole.
The use of these words sometimes "overlap" because of the varied use of these words over the past several decades.
Sorry for the confusion, if anyone suffered any while trying to understand what I was saying...
MOST of them? So like, if you had a cheap Walmart player you might have to listen to the whole tape every time you wanted to hear that one song?
Believe it or not --- I remember seeing at least one player designed without a "changer" button - thought it was pretty stupid...

HA! I can picture it now. A teenage boy listening to a whole album, waiting for that one song he likes to come back around... Then halfway through the song before it, his brother starts an argument with him... they argue back and forth for a few minutes until suddenly he realizes he has totally missed the song he was waiting for.
"Dadgummit! You made me miss my song again! You KNOW I was waiting for that song! I bet you wait and pick these arguments just when you'll make me miss it!" And the two boys start fighting.

Well, I don't know if you'll categorize what I'm about to describe as "things" or not, but I'd say that the number one thing that unnecessarily complicates life is DECEITFUL PEOPLE...and that includes many professing Christians.
Throughout my lifetime, I've encountered so many people who seemingly couldn't/wouldn't tell the truth if their lives depended upon it that it not only boggles my mind, but also GREATLY troubles my soul.
