Maybe. But more likely, I couldn't have slept good till I tried some of you on for size.
I was the one who would protect my friends, but let people pick on me....but when I switched to a new school, no one would mess with me or others in front of me...lol
I was one of the worst to try and tangle with, if someone started with me, it would be a long long war, and that persons friends and family would be targeted. I didn't just fight, I went in to seriously injure or kill (lucky I never did kill anyone, came close). I was ruthless, sorta like a mob boss.
What was I like in high school.... hmmm, we don't talk about that lol Actually, I was a band geek and in ROTC.
I want to wait until I can write a proper post, but I have an urge to post impulsively so for now...

- I took karate lessons
- I had a 30 inch waist
..and I was jealous of my best friend's 28 inch waist!

Band geeks were awesome. What instruments did you play?
Speaking if being like a mob boss, I also held the underground ciggie trade. you wanted smokes, you had to deal with me $5 a pack, and I didn't allow anyone else to encroach on my thing.
I played the drums in all 3 of my HS bands, but I did take piano lessons privately..
..and yes band geeks are awesome!

I played the flute and a few times I played the piccolo. I played from fifth grade on up through my senior year. I've never learned how to play the piano, but always had the desire to learn
I had also noticed that and come to the same conclusion. Kim, please get out of my head. There's only barely room enough in here for the five of me.
As for myself, in high school I might as well have been a ghost. See, I have always taken social cues from people older than I. And the things my peers thought important - "Check out these $150 shoes, man, I am so cool in them!" - "OMG did you hear she was going out with HIM?!" - "For real she is like such a snob!" - I never saw adults spending that much emotional effort on. I mean sure, adults talked about the same stuff a little... but it wasn't their whole lives. So I never did pay much attention to my peers because their interests didn't seem to matter much to me. Socially I drifted through school without really touching anybody.
Academically I could have been great. I aced about all the tests but I only did the bare minimum homework.
Now that my peers are adults I tend to talk to them a lot more.
OBSERVATIONS:
1. Stuff determines how cool you are in school. It is now as it was then, from what I can see from kids these days. Shoes, smartphones, cars, something you own will determine whether or not you are cool. At least this is true for boys. I don't know what makes girls cool to other girls.
2. Math teachers always let you eat candy. Social Studies teachers never let you eat candy. This is an absolute. I have no idea why. One math teacher even had a standing rule that you could eat candy in class as long as she got a piece.
3. The teens who place most importance on the things their peers deem important are the ones who will get the biggest shock once they enter the real world. The ones who look to grownups for what matters will make the transition much more smoothly. I didn't have much trouble at all going from school kid to adult worker. I was kind of puzzled at how much some people were making of having to suddenly be adults.
LOL..that made me laugh..I grew up in a town where over 80% of us were Irish...we would fight amongst ourselves..in junior high we would fight against the other junior high school...then in high school the ones we fought against in junior were now in the high school with us..so we then would fight against the other high school..LOL..we were nuts!

I was nerdy and had only few friends. I hated myself and thought others hate me too so I find it a waste of time talking to people so I prefer books for company. My comfort was that I met Jesus when I was in high school and I think my faith helped me survive high school. My high school life improved in my last two years when I gained little confidence because of the encouragement from my teachers who saw potential in me. I was noticed in essay writing. And they gave me a chance to compete in academic competions like physics olympiad, science quiz, math olympiad etc. I liked physics but hated math and chemistry but I learned to love math in college because I had no choice,engineering involves a lot of numbers. I was inspired to be an engineer because of my love for physics.
I also signed up for a rondalla club, I played the instrument called banjo. I did this only to escape from music class where students will sing individually in front of the class. I wanted to play volleyball but had no chance because of the confidence issue and it would divide my time so I just focused on academics. In short I was wimpy and clumsy. Lol!
But now I think I'm a slightly better version of that highschool me. I can tolerate small talk now but still not a big fan of it.

Hmmmm...(I'll make this short n sweet) In a way I'm still the same that I was in high school, but I'm no where near naive as I was then. I hung out with the most random people, took my electives like they were actual classes.. I wasn't a 'nerd' but I wasn't the 'cool' kid either. I knew nothing about fashion.. Or girly stuff.. But I hated sports too. All I wanted to do was graduate high school, cause that's all my parents wanted me to do.
The best year was senior year, short day, and I got to go home and watch tv or whatever I wanted to do. Life wasn't much simpler then though.. I struggled a lot with my family and with stress I lost weight. I thought life would get better after high school, but I was very sadly mistaken... Lol
I wouldn't trade my past or my up bringing for anything in the world, cause if it wasn't for my life experience... I wouldn't be who I am today.
I just happened to find my senior picture on my laptop... how 'bout that!

MMm high school..it seems so long ago, I left at 16. As Miri has said high school here in UK is from 11/12 years old till 16. At that point you can either leave, stay on and do Higher exams, go to college or get a job (Uni at 18).
I must admit from about 2nd year I didn't like school at all. I found it boring. At 14 I was paying in bands and making some money. So in my mind I didn't need no education. In hindsight it was not the schools fault but mine for being so foolish lol. Who needs school when your gonna be a rock star. I skived (skipped school), this was mid 80's so they didnt have the computerised roll calls they have now. Infact, the high school here (Academy) texts parents if the kids are not in school by 0930 hrs which is a good thing.
I just wasn't interested in learning maths, english,history, geography etc etc, and I hated P/E (physical education). I did howver, like my music class, some weeks that was the only class I atteneded.
Anyhow, I left school with no qualifications - but I was making decent money in the band scene. Skipped forward a couple of years and I went to college.. and thats how I got into the Job that I spent 20 years at... working along side those who actually went to Uni and had degrees. Further down the line I got a degree, although how I managed I don't know lol.
So whats the moral of my story..... MMmm I'm not too sure. One thing I would say is stick in at school, for a couple of reasons. 1, it's good to lern 2. Education is free when your a kid

Started with a small circle of 'friends', then by the end of those four years became a paranoid and isolated vegetable, pretty much. Four years worth of social and personal torment that I would not go back to.
