...what do u do? I have been thru Viv's thread on when annoyed or irritated? and this one too:
http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/131408-anger-self-control.html

You'd have thought at this age, ppl would have learned to control their/our tongues... and I can.. online. In person I am not one to speak too much either (as I see) but children have a different point of view. I used to also write, play/listen to music, even dabble in art work [and once I suddenly remembered, I wasn't angry then but I knew there was something wrong I did. Made a simple painting of some tomatoes I think,.. to give and ask for sorry from my ma. I think that evaporated some of the anger inmyself]

I have Liked peterjens' post in the above link, because in a way it says what I cannot say. For one I get very frustrated when unable to say whats inside. But then proverbs also says that a fool simply wants to say whats in his heart, so we don't have to try too hard to either. (18.2A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. ) Btw, is that what the proverb is saying?

I cannot always talk of details, but this morning son asks for something and when I ask for details he is annoyed..and even angry. When earlier I was asking for something also, and he even kind of ignored what I was asking. How could he in turn ask and then think u just give or comply w.o wanting to know details of what is being asked for. Oh, is this vague? If it is, then never mind this paragraph.

but what do u ppl do when ur angry. Of course we are familiar w/ verses like Be angry but don't let ur anger lead u to sin. Then how do we not sin when after the incident u think andthink abt what happened, try to pray abt it.. but cant forget it. I seem to have a poor memory of some things I need to be remembering, but have a grudge abt things I shd just forgive and forget. (For ex. a misunderstanding arises from/abt some food item like a veg.. It is like for a long time the memory of the conflict stays in mind, and to the point I don't want to cook that again bec. it gives such a bad memory and feeling.)

Pls no arguments here. I am simply asking what practical things u do, just as I was trying to ask in the Redeeming time thread pala.

Confess it as sin and repent and kick a demon out and ask the Holy Spirit to guard my lips.
No man can control the tongue. Only the Holy Spirit. Harold Hill said: speak a lot in tongues, that way He controls your tongue.

Ah I see you also have an example of your son.
I get angry if my sons don't listen at all and I was taught that it was very bad to get angry. You always have to stay kind, but then you can't raise your kids. Dad just says stop it and they do, but I have to get angry. I learned that it's not a sin. The outbursts of anger because of the frustration of having to let them walk over me were sin. Now I just yell in time: Stop that!! That's not a sin. But I really had to repent and kick a demon of anger out.

Anger is an indication of a crossed boundary or violated core belief. Always better to chase the pain behind the anger.

Thank u sirk. This had me thinking (again) on hurts and pains because i know there is some aspect of this in the situation. (Now how do i phrase that?!). I know there are many proverbs on anger in the Bible, and reading thru them for years u thought u knew how to deal.. but in fact it was a lot in the head only. Whats hard is when u do not process it as the Lord taught. I know a person who turned to sports, as in, as he hits on or kicks a ball, for example, he said he was pretending to hit his boss instead of openly showing anger at work, or at least losing control. I know he wasnt truly hating the man, but in a way that was his way of releasing not so good emotions or letting off the steam.

Yes, but as they grow and learn to reason out... u want to listen and do listen to their reasoning sometimes to, but when it gets to the point where it is they who tells u to stop for what u say isnt helping, they say...and u do... or u dont... but u still dont see the issue cleared. Anyway, this is more like a Teen thread perhaps, could have put in the Family forum. But i am so used to clicking on the Misc. forum and maybe it is alright it just stays here.

arming yourself with a vocabulary that describes pain behind the anger is the first step. I felt, disrespected, unloved, not valued, unimportant, ignored etc. then you can set corresponding boundaries. For example....when you did or said x to me I felt y. I need you to do that differently. I want to be connected with you and when you said or did x I felt disconnected and wanted to lash out withdraw or criticize you. I don't want that in our relationship. I love you.

It's about staying connected while expressing yourself openly and honestly without attacking the other person. Acting out of anger always creates more anger and brokenness in the relationship.

And with the above post...if your first response can be to ask questions like....I'm really confused about what just happened and why you said or did that. Can you help me understand? In that way You can chase your own pain and that of others simultaneously and create connection and trust.

Be angry but sin not.
I try to think how God would want me to handle. I don't always succeed, but often I do.
I try to remember I am representing Jesus, don't let me embarrass Him, or myself.
When it does happen, which is kinda rare, as soon as I can I repent and try to make amends.
The world is a tough judge on Christians. When they see us act without self control, they like to say that if that is what a Christian is, I want no part of it.

I do the above with my son and he is the most emotionally sound kid I've ever known. And he trusts me. I am his hero and he would do anything I ask him and he 9 times out of 10 does it right away.

Anger tries to force sorrow. Processing pain invites it but doesn't demand it.

"Don't sin by letting anger control you." Don't let the sun go down while you are angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
EPHESIANS 4:26-27

People don't know how to process their pain. Consequently they are walking around with a frustrated countenance. When a person is constantly frustrated that step to full blown anger is a small one.

Hey sister,, you sparked a thought in me about the writings and though I do have a good books somewhere in my house lol.. goes to show how much I read at least from the good books though I do look up verses a lot and such have never read the writings from front too back in the two books though now that I'm saying that I may start reading them.. mostly I get my info from other people speaking the word. But I'm wondering is the two books are there different meanings depending on what was teached?..

God Bless :)

I just ask the persons who do not stop trying to get me insane if they want me to go to hell or something and say that it's no joke.

I wish I could buy a man with a big controlling mouth who would make everyone shut up.

My mom never ever got angry. She just let my dad do the barking and cursing. We were all afraid of him. Man such a simple life.
