I really like how the Easter Orthodox Church teaches on how to view faith, but without all the rules, etc.

I will just put it out here. I will tell you the truth. I was praying fervently for a blessing last week.

I didn't even know what I wanted. I just knew I wanted a blessing. Normally, i would pray the usual, salvation of my family, health of my family, protection and provision for my finances, and more recently, peace on earth, but this time, i just prayed for a blessing, something tangible and real and unmistakable.
Then the Holy spirit spoke to me in spirit, "The Worship IS the blessing".

I was a little taken back by it at first, I wasn't sure it was my own voice or God's voice. Not worship leads to blessing which of course it does also, but the worship itself.
Immediately I begin to think about the hierarchy of heaven and the Seraphim closest to the Throne of God do nothing but worship him 24/7 saying, Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God Almighty.

More love, more power
More of You in my life
More love, more power
More of You in my life
And I will worship You with all of my heart
I will worship you with all of my mind
I will worship you with all of my strength
For You are my Lord

wow.
You're not very demanding are you?

God is not Santa Claus.

What if:

No one in your family accepted God.
Two members of your family became very sick of an incurable medical condition.
The stock market crashed...homes became worthless, you lost your job.
There are always wars in the world...no world peace - ever. (which is actually true)

What now?

Here is an old-fashioned idea:
Why are we here?
To love, honor and obey God.

It works really well.

My parents have not accepted Jesus.
My wife did have a brain tumor last year.
I did lose my job and my wife did get scammed for almost my life savings, so yes. I have been through it.

Abba father loves me and I have a seat at the table. He hears all my prayers like a little child and I take to HIM all my worries w/o any need to feel guilty or filter. Also, it's not a demand, it's a petition and he commands us to do so like the persistent widow.

Did He hear your prayers?
I will not be responding any further.
God is not Santa.
Your supposed to be praying for HIS will
NOT yours.

Yes he has and he responded to my supplications.

Even Jesus prayed father take this cup from me if possible, he was so distraught the father sent him an Angel.
Jesus didn't just say OK...

He was broken and fell on his face and prayed for 1 hour 3 times... but eventually accepted the will of his father, but he DID ASK for another way if possible which is the point.

Technically, God is santa claus.
Life is a gift, and the more you love living, the more presents you can open in heaven.
Your post made me imagine God wearing a santa suit riding in a flying sleigh, and it made me giggle. Coming down the chimney with a sack full of gifts of blessings and joy to those who call on him, with jingle bells and carols singing in the backround.
I mean, just look. The fact that you can imagine that in pure love to God in the process is what living's all about.

Prayer is an invitation for God to intervene. This is 100% biblical and by no means we have to accept what is front of us as final. It does not mean God will grant us our request.

Kings 20:1–6 (KJV)

1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

2
Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying,

3 I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord.

6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

Hi @jacko,

I haven't been able to catch all your posts, but I have read many of them during your time on CC. I am very sorry for all the trials you have been going through, most especially your wife's diagnosis.

I met with a Christian friend for coffee recently, and we were talking about the many, many fellow Christian friends and family members we have watched go through horrific health and personal challenges the past few years. Some have gone through disfiguring surgeries; some have passed away; some have had their livelihoods taken from them.

And we talked about how tough it can be to trust in God's sovereignty and just keep praying and worshipping.

God has taught me to have a regular prayer time during a certain part of my day that I can't skip. Due to reading your posts, you have been on my "Top Priority" prayer list every day for a very long time, and will continue to be for as long as God leads me.

I mention this because I just wanted you to know that during our roughest times, it can be hard to know if God is listening. It's sounded like you have been going through a "Job Moment" (when, like Job, the difficulties seem to be nonstop) for some time.

I just wanted you to know that you, your family, and your prayers are very important to God.

May He bless, comfort, and provide for you and your family through these trying times. 🙏🏼

Please keep us posted.
