“The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it. (Luke 16:16)

The law never expired it was enhanced. Jesus fulfilled the law and when the love of God enriches the heart of his children the law is written on their hearts. I think David said it best Psalm 40:8 I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart."
see even before jesus came david did not see his law as a curse but a true blessing

A simple question.

Jesus rescued believers from the law. Everyone else will be held responsible.

"Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.

When was transgressions, sin, wickedness, everlasting righteousness, vision and prophecy brought to their ends? Though Christ paid the penalty for sins, there is still an overwhelming amount of sin in the world and it will just continue to get worse. Also, there is still plenty of prophecy yet to come. In fact, all of the events listed in the book of Revelation, the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments, which are the wrath of God, are prophesies yet to be fulfilled,as well as Christ's return to the earth.

Zeek, you are not going to succeed in trying to convince those of us who know the truth of the prophecy regarding Dan.9:24-27 and specifically that last seven years. We know the plan and that seven years is quickly approaching. You will understand that you were wrong about Cyrus and the seven years, when you see some political ruler make a seven year agreement with Israel, which will allow them to build their temple, which they already have blue prints for, the Sanhedrin have already be reconvened, they have been in training for offering sacrifices and temple duties. They're ready to go. It is not until that ruler comes, the antichrist, who will make it possible for Israel to build the temple on the temple mount.

You're just going to have to keep watching. And when it happens you'll know that everything that you believed was false. So when you see it happen, then remember all that we told you ahead of time.

If only people were more clear as to 'which laws they mean !
Broadly speaking there are the 'spiritual Law or Commandments given by GOD personally to the people Ex 20v1, Deut 5v22 -
and then there are the 'Works of the law/commandments contained in ordinances and only temporal given through Moses until Christ.
The spiritual Commandments are eternal, holy, just and good Rom 7,
while the 'works commandments were abolished on the cross Eph 2v15; Col 2v14.

What we get is a lot of arguments about the 'LAW ---lumping them all together as 'one and the same'. That just is not true and is the reason for all our disagreements.

We are to 'put difference between what is holy/spiritual and what is unhole/secular Lev 10v10 ....it is a 'foundational principle and essential for reaching the Truth. Mix them together (as Christians are doing) and you get ERROR/disgreement and divisions ! Christianity is broken, splintered into thousands of different beliefs/denominations. That should not be so !

The law as Jesus and Paul meant:

But now we are discharged from the law

For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished

Sorry but you are not being clear
you saying Peter and Paul were in favour of discharging the eternal/spiritual law ?

I don't really know what you mean
the law is spiritual

Why would Paul tell us we are dead to this enhanced Law you talk about?

Why did Paul tell us that the law was about to expire?

But I don't really want to get sidetracked into this argument, you would be better starting a new thread.

For those who believe the Law is now expired, (and we are no longer under the Law, and the Levitical Priesthood is obsolete, etc, etc, etc) when exactly did it expire?

When did the Law expire? A simple question.

I would say during the last supper, when Jesus said:

"This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you." LK 22:20

It seems logical to me, that when the new covenant is made, the old one expires.

The question is, if it was valid immediately or when He actually poured His blood on the cross.
That would be my second guess.

I think the New Covenant started when Jesus was raised from the dead to be at God's right hand.

Hebrews 1

When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high

Or actually, when Jesus spilt blood...

Secular:not connected with religious or spiritual matters

Nothing in the law is secular!

It acturly means that you cannot work yourself into heaven by trying to keep the whole full OT law, but now the new through grace you can keep the law. :P

The law of Moses is still in effect but it is not for the Christian. The Christian has died to the law, been released from the law and is not under the law. Can't get much plainer than that.

The law is for the unrighteous - not the righteous. We are the righteous in Christ. The law is NOT of faith. Christ has fulfilled the law and as Christians we are in Him and His life being manifested will cause us to walk in love which is the fulfillment of the law too.

Yes, but that is a separate discussion - about laws, rather than the Law

Once Jesus died on the cross, there is no more other sacrifices needed. Thats one.
Once Jesus died on the cross and got back up, we dont have to take any human punishment such as beatings, death etc. anymore for falling short to Gods glory.

Never
Matthew 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Romans 3:31
Well then, if we emphasize faith, does this mean that we can forget about the law? Of course not! In fact, only when we have faith do we truly fulfill the law.
