Here is a verse about the pharisee style of making ones own law that is grossly misunderstood and falsely applied to obedience to Yahweh:

Romans10:3, "Since they, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from Yahweh, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to Yahweh's righteousness."

When applied with common translation I can see how it is misunderstood, yet when the greek is consulted the true meaning and intent of this comes forth:

Romans 10:4, "For Christ is the end (telos) of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Romans 10:4, "For Yahshua is the ultimate result (telos) of the Law unto righteousness for everyone who believes."

1Peter 1:9, "Receiving the end (telos) of your faith, even the salvation of your souls."
1 Kepha (Peter) 1:9, "Receiving the ultimate result (telos) of your faith--the salvation of your souls."

If the its the end of the Law aka Law is done away in Romans 10:4 then faith must also be done away in 1 Kepha (Peter) 1:9. Unless of course telos means the goal If we look at Cor. 13:2 "and that I have all faith so that I could move mountains". Or regarding hope ....I do not need hope for what I already have, Now abideth Faith hope and love the greatest is love (12) For now we see through a glass darkly , but then face to face. "Receiving the telios of your faith"is receiving the end of your faith...and forthwith .the salvation of your soul, when we see him face to face, we will not need faith any more.Just like we will not hope any more. just as Christ is the end of the law for righteousness. Having it written in our hearts instead of reading it outside our hearts. The law, even in a worldly sense, is there to punish so people refrain bad behavior . But if every one truly had love in there hearts we would not need any law because every one would keep it , there personage or heart would demand it. They ,in away would be the law by their nature. When we walk in love we are the law of God and condemn the world by our actions ,the law written in our hearts, The law of love, the nature of God himself. The sword of the Spirit is the word of God,Jesus was the expressed image of the father and the word of God . The law for righteousness has ended and the law and nature of God through the Spirit has replaced it.not that the law has ended or was bad,, but has fulfilled its purpose in shewing us our sin, and placed in our hearts by faith in His name. When I shew compassion to some one I don't do it because i am told to by a law , but do it because my nature has been changed and I do it out of my own compassion given to me by his Spirit dwelling within me. this is getting to long God bless you

Then what you are saying is that the Covenant, which is a legal agreement, made with the Hebrews at the base of Mt. Sinai is null and void, even though
our Father said out of his own mouth it was an everlasting (eternal) covenant?
But he said more than that.

Ex 19:5 - "Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant,
then out of all the nations you will be my treasured possession." (Ex 19:5)

The covenant was in accordance with its words, which were the Ten Commandments (Ex 24:8).

Jer 7:3 "Obey me and I will be your God and you will be my people."

Jer 11:2-5 - This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Cursed is the man who does not obey the terms of this covenant--the terms I commanded your forefathers when I took them out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace. I said, 'Obey me and do everything I command you, and you will be my people and I will be your God.' ' "

God's covenant was everlasting in that he would never break it, but it wasn't everlasting if they broke it, which they did (Jer 11:10).

Jer 11:10 - "Both the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant I made with their forefathers."

So God promised a new covenant (Jer 31:31-34) to replace the broken old covenant,
and with the inauguration of the new covenant (Lk 22:20),
the old (Sinaitic) covenant was made obsolete (Heb 8:13).

This is the testimony of Scripture.

If the Ten Commandments are spoken out of his mouth to be
an everlasting covenant, and that covenant
has
been somehow now altered or done away with,
how does that make your god the same today, yesterday, and forever?
If he can't keep his word from the beginning, spoken from his own mouth to his chosen people, how can we trust him to keep his word today?
You must reckon with the record and testimony of the word of God in the above.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: [SUP]9 [/SUP]not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. [SUP]10 [/SUP]For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: [SUP]11 [/SUP]and they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. [SUP]12 [/SUP]For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. [SUP]13 [/SUP]In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away

How can you say the law is done away with, if the law is supposed to be in your heart? The arguments always goes back to the 4th Commandment. If you choose to follow Constantine, then follow him, he is dead and in his grave, but Messiah is alive!! I will follow Messiah!

Read again the letter to the Romans.
Firstly he said "Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith?
Not at all! Rather, we uphold THE LAW." Rom 3:31

In Ro 3:31, Paul is explaining that we "establish (uphold) the law" in the NT
by establishing (upholding) the right use of the law,
that we are not overthrowing (nullifying) the law, but establishing (upholding) its standing
by setting it on the right basis
; i.e., subject to the law of grace.

Although we cannot be saved by it as a covenant, we submit to it in Christ's two
commandments (Mt 22:37-39), which are
the law of grace.

Judaizing (Gal 2:14) attempts to set it on the wrong basis.

We were alive to sin but dead to God before accepting Christ. Now we are dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Dead to the law.. Alive in the Spirit...

As Titus 2 11-14 states it is the grace of God that teaches us to deny all ungodliness.

We are dead to the law of SIN not GOD'S LAW. Not shouting just for bigger notation.

Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

A dead man is no longer under the laws of do's and don'ts period. We are new Spiritual creatures led by the Spirit not the letter of the law.

But we will be judged by the letter of the law.

I'm asking everyone in general. Not you in particular. And I hate (reads too lazy) to go back and examine each letter you or anyone else posted. After all
we might be neighbors in the new heaven and new earth so....
Well, I'm gonna' have a big fence. . .don't want no - - - living next to me!

I guess you will have to show me where I said that.

How in the world did Constantine get in this?

No friend. Those who have fled to Christ for refuge are no longer under any judgment by the letter of the law. If we are to be judged by the letter of the law we would all be tossed into hell forever lost.
You see Christ has already paid the full penalty and punishment for breaking the law, for all of your sins past present and future. You see friend if He has already been punished for all sins and all broken commandments then how can you be punished for them?
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
All believers must appear before the judgement seat of Christ for either rewards and or sadly loss of rewards.

And if there is no law then how would they loose their reward? What are they judged against?

Yes I know forgiven sinners there is no more condemnation.

This has nothing to do with eternal life. That was given at conversion.
We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God prepared before hand that we should walk in them. (Rewards for faithful service).
Not loss of reward but (rewards). Loss of rewards for unfaithful service.

Elin, I see you wasting time by repeatedly quoting long passages just to say one dismissive word. Like you need to stamp everything that you see as having been seen by you and now we can move on. It's been a totally one sided debate with people being mostly agreed and you stirring things up by saying things that are either twisting someones words or jumping to conclusions or writing off what was said with one verse plucked out of its context. You seem to have the knowledge of the truth, but you appear to be using your intelligence to detract from what the truth is. You give forceful instructions to obey your chosen method of debate. For no reason other than your own pleasure, and we like brothers and sisters watching you go by the way, have patiently offered correction with scripture. Sure you can SAY that I'm wrong, and you know, this is conjecture, but I'm not going to waste time going back and quoting you 100 times, so I can't prove it, but neither can you prove your good intentions. Good thing this is an internet forum. It's the attitude that is hard to get over.

We see it so much in the world where the enemy takes a sharp stick and says "don't return evil for evil," and then starts poking, mocking with our own laws, poke poke, "are you angry yet? that's a sin you know", poke poke poke, "wanna speak your mind, is that another sin? come again???" poke poke......

It's the enemies favorite game, and he loves to use other people to do it, I know....I was a champion.

I wouldn't have thought this edifying, but you did ask for it...so I hope you aren't too terribly offended.

Forgot to thank you for this post. It is sad that it's a game to some people, but it is, that's all. I will refrain from responding to robots, and pray for them and all their alter egos, and all their multiple personalities. Maybe some day their demons will be cast out.

The quote from Titus that GregoryC gave on the last page, gives it really clear, I'll embolden for emphasis. All of us now are in agreement now except Elin and a couple people who aren't posting, just watching us argue, so for their sake I guess we are at least reinforcing the whole idea which is always good.

Titus 2:
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

So here again we have salvation by grace through faith alone.

THEN

Sanctification by the special workings of our Lord to purify us and redeem us, which we allow by DENYING UNGODLINESS
I am ungodly. Thereby do I deny myself. The more I die to self, the more of me Christ can make new.

I ate a couple bites of pork tonight because it was served to me and would have hurt my parents feelings and they wouldn't have understood, so for them I ate the pork. I am not separated from God by that, but is it still against his law? yup. Do I now turn all the more toward me Lord? yup.

Am I guilty? No.....because Christ died for me? Well that, and I am in no way minimizing that, but there's more to it.

By his death, I am free from the spiritual penalty and power of sin and death...but by his resurrection he was made our High priest of the order of Melchisedek, of which we, by accepting his yoke (it takes two to carry a cross, or plow a field) are priests with him, a never ending priesthood.

Priests who had temple duty on the Sabbath, were guiltless. Even the remnant is guiltless, as scripture says a search will be made for their transgressions, and none will be found. --note...transgressions still exist or we couldn't look for them or find any for others who are not part of the remnant.

If you wanna go ahead and say the following thing to me and pretend it isn't meant to be personally insulting...."oh so you wanna still be under the law her her her well Jesus isn't good enough for you duh" UMMMM HELLO???? It's like you're channeling the enemy, and I'm not wasting my time to go back and quote people who are being insulting, confounding the Christians for WHAT? For what GOOD PURPOSE could you possibly have other than your own pleasure, to use the SAME verses REPEATEDLY, to say the same thing, "oh just so you know here's this verse" which agrees with what we're saying, but then you throw in, "so you still wanna be under the law huh? Guess you don't know scripture huh?" It's a very immature mindset that looks for loop holes. I see this at work all the time when people look at the job description, "so how much of this do I actually have to DO?" "all of it" "yeah, but there's some things that aren't necessary right?" "no please follow all the protocols" "well, I don't think I should have to do this one, and why this? I'm just not doing it this is stupid" "please actually do your job" "well nobody's gonna die if I don't, right? I mean, when you work you must skip some of these things right? you can't possibly expect me to do all of this right?" "yes my example is that I do it all and I am going to expect you to do your job as written or go away, so now go and do whatever you're gonna do"

Jesus gave us the example, and he was the one who died, and he took the guilt from the ones who did it, and he works in us so we don't have to do anything alone. All he asked, was that we do our jobs. We are priests. If you wanna act like a teenager, you might find yourself out of a job, not saying damnation, just saying, don't obey and see how things go.

It's not enough for today's generation just to do wrong. They want us to tell them they are doing good all the while. I'm not doing it. Period.

So don't message me telling me I don't have to follow the law, the law is not for following, the law is for KNOWING GOD, and if you are a priest you wanna know your God. This will be to the scorn of those who say in the end, didn't we prophecy in your name? ALL THE PAGANS KNOW THEIR GODS AND DO WHAT THEY TELL THEM. Even the pagans look after their own family. Therefor a "christian" who WILL NOT OBEY his GOD is worse than a non-believer.
