so. i know that people have different comfort levels with the people around them. family, friends, strangers.
and i was just thinking about the varying moral standards people have on physical touch. what feels wrong to you? and what feels like just good old fashioned lovins?
who is it right and wrong to cuddle with?
 
i'm not a very touchy person so unless i was in a committed relationship with someone i'm sure i wouldn't like it anyway.

i read an article once about a woman somewhere in the states who started a cuddling business. like, people will go over to her house to sit and cuddle with her. that weirds me out, man. :s yeesh

Honestly, I'm rather reserved in my physical affections.

Now, that's not to say I'm made of ice or anything, but there are several I find appropriate or inappropriate based on the person and situation.

In general, a hand-shake, pat (on non-erogenous zones obviously), hug, or any combination (where I'm from) is acceptable for about any person past the status of acquaintance, but I've included this nice chart to illustrate distance.

When it comes to kisses, cuddling, holding hands, ext...(with the obvious exception of small children who sometimes hold your hand, or family members who may or may not be comfortable doing these things)...I believe that only someone who you are dating (in a legitimate relationship with) would be appropriate.

For me, I don't kiss anyone (even family), because I feel uncomfortable doing so. For me, that only exists for a romantic partner (girlfriend, fiance, wife). The same is true for cuddling, and largely even hand holding.

I'm not saying these are BUY and LARGE the boundaries of 'right and wrong' when it comes to physical touch, but they are my personal ones.

so you are putting cuddles in the same category as kissing rather than in the same category as hugs. yes?
 
More or less, yes. In my experience, cuddling is an intimate act; whereas hugging may be public or social.

The way you hug can be different as well.

For instance, I mostly give people side hugs (otherwise known as the 'Christian side-hug'.

If I'm intimate with you (family, close friends, significant other), I'll give you a 'full' or 'frontal' hug.

the side hug is an insult to hugs everywhere. if thats all someone is gonna give me they can KEEP their stupid hug. lol
 
Well, unless we become really close friends (full hug), or somehow find that we're in God's favor to be in a relationship (cuddling), It would seem I'm not your man. ^^
 
i wasn't suggesting at all that you were, dear stranger. lol. just that a girl's gotta have her cuddles. or at least. this girl.

...and that may be cool. I've known others like you, but for me...there are levels of intimacy needing to be unlocked. No open access.
 
Wait im confused...so if youre saying the fact that it says youre married is supposed to repel creepers, but the creepers arent the ones that will bother.
 
I love hugs but cuddles are more intimate and in my view should be reserved for close relationships. Cuddles - family (as a kid), and of course my romantic partner (if I had one). I would need to date someone who enjoys the physical intimacy of hugs and cuddles, like I do. Hugs - family, friends.
