I design digital collages to share on Christian Chat. . . ^ these are a couple of my recent ones.

I see rug hooking as painting with wool. I drew the photo's image on a burlap background, dyed the wool and cut it into strips. I used old wool clothes to create my pieces. I also create other works out of fabrics that have meaning. It can be like scrapbooking with fabric. If it is going on a wall I can use any material, even bits of plastic.
This piece is special to me as it incorporates three generations and and branches out within that family. I hope my son holds on to it in the future.

WOW! Beautiful artwork and beautiful story.
 
well this is pretty stupid. BUT, I have always been a little creeped out by carnival people. I don't have any kind of trauma as a reason. Just kind of wary of them. Especially balloon people. Don't ask why. Don't know. Anyway, I sometimes cut out pieces of wood with knives and so forth and started laminating darker woods on light woods - like cherry on maple so when I cut out an image on cherry it exposes the image on the maple. Kind of like a negative exposure on film.

So back to the baloon guy, his balloons are always black or white. No colors. And I never can make out the guy's face. And it's like he's paying attention to his balloons when in reality he's looking to sell his ballons - so his real attention is on you, even though he looks like he's totally ignoring you. That's his pitch. It's this dichotomy of intention that you see in the smile of a ticket taker or, in this case, the disregard of a half clown with his balloons.

So I cut this picture out. It's been a while ago but if you can't tell what it is I'll try and point it out. It's not all that good.

I did it as a side job for a while but I was losing sleep and money cause Im a pushover and had a hard time saying no and a hard time charging a price that covered everything. Now I only do it for family.

I am happily making some miniatures due to ECQ... staying at home for months in boredom, my mind can not tolerate idleness so it is mentally challenging for me to find ways to be creative and productive. That's why I love making miniatures.
