her comment makes me wonder, if maybe the reason some are "forced" single is cause the one they should have been with were murdered via abortion.
Interesting question. Wouldn't their death be an equally foreseeable outcome though?
It IS a very interesting question.
If God has designed me to be a certain man's wife... and if my mother had chosen to abort me...
Would God simply choose another woman for him? Or would he then be destined to be alone for the rest of his life? (Or vice versa, seeing as I survived and maybe my intended husband did not.)
I thoroughly admit, I truly don't know.

The comment really made me think. But does anything surprise God? His plans are always carried out. So while our abortion toll is devastating and tragic, I don't believe that God's plans for two "soul mates" could be thwarted by humans this way.
You must remember God created time. Before God created this universe time literally did not exist. It's hard for us to imagine because all we have known is a life with time. But when the Bible says time will be no more, it means it.
If God created time, God cannot be subject to what He Himself created. As the Bible says, God knows the end from the beginning. That is also how God knows what to tell His prophets to prophesy... because God already knows what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, 3,000 years from now (if He waits that long before coming back.)
So if God planned someone for you, that someone will be with you.

Or watch the rachel mc adams movie " about time". Somewhere in time, the time travelers wife etc. These movies are really mind boggling. If only we can understand the mystery of time. Einstein, in his quest to know God's thoughts, could be right that past, present and future all happen at once.
A big if. I'm of the opinion that soul mates do not exist. You find someone and choose to love them on the daily if you marry them.
I was answering the question in situ, as it was posed. If one starts tacking on qualifiers and addendums to the question before answering it the answer becomes meaningless relative to the question that one is attempting to answer.
Sometimes it kinda gets awkward when people ask if you have a boyfriend or not. Not that I'm embarrassed about being single but sometimes I try not to answer their question especially if they want to pair me up with someone. If I tell people that I don't have a boyfriend, they'll just laugh at me and tell me that I'm lying. Do I really look that I have lots of boyfriend? 
Lately, my parents have been hinting that I should get a boyfriend and it annoys me when they ask about my love life. I just change the topic and they'll tease me like there's no end. I guess they only want the best for me. I sometimes tell them that they should be the one choosing my boyfriend so it would be more convenient and hassle-free for me. haha.

Just set some man traps and check for results periodically.
If one of them strikes your fancy, then you found one, and you haven't had to expend very much effort on it.
Err, I should add these traps need to be non lethal. Otherwise you'll have other problems.

Some have appointed husbands and wives from God whereas others just chose hoping for the best without God guidance
it like taking a rib that does not belong in your side is either it is to big and has to be forced in or to small and very slack
