I understand what you are saying here, but someone who has gone through what the hurting person is going through, can certainly identify...have 'empathy'
15 [FONT="]For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin Hebrews 4:15
the above verse certainly demonstrates the meaning of the word empathy

I lost my father to colon cancer. I was with Him when He passed...caring for Him around the clock. I knew it was time. I told Him to go with the Lord. He took His last breath with my hand on His heart.
Here's truth...and what I believe only Jesus can truly empathize.
Many people have lost their fathers...yes.
Many of those fathers did not go through the journey of my dads colon cancer.
Perhaps they had their fathers in hospice care instead of doing it themselves.
Perhaps their relationship with their father wasn't like the relationship I had with my father. I suffered through 14 years of sexual abuse with my father. No one can understand except Jesus...because He was with me through it all.
You know, my sister takes His death in a different way as me. Of course we both went through the loss of the same person. We both loved him. Our relationships we're very different. His death affected us differently.
I am glad He is no longer in pain and suffering. I am glad He is with His savior. My sister is lost, devastated, angry, hurt. She hasn't come close to closure.
I would think she would be happy that He is no longer in pain and with Jesus. I just don't relate to how she is taking all of this.
And my brother...not even going to try to understand him.
I can sympathize because we lost our dad. I can not empathize with their feelings on the matter.
See the difference?
