Also: Howdy Bob and welcome to the forum.

Have you met Gojira? Seems like you and he got a lot in common.
I might need someone's magnifying glass to find other names. I'm legally blind.

Even God had the requirement that priests must marry virgins in the Old Testament. Just because the world drops its standards, why should Christians? In my view, wanting to marry a virgin is the same as wanting to marry someone who isn't already married. It's normal and should be the default state. I'm not saying Christians can't marry non-virgins, but why shouldn't we want to marry non-criminals, or non-murderers, or non-porn-addicts, or non-drug-abusers? There are some things that set up a marriage for failure, and having been previously married or sexually involved with other partners is a serious impediment to begin any marriage (the same as the other sins mentioned). It's not that these can't be overcome, but why take on the burden, when it's easier just to find someone else who doesn't have the defect or flaw?

II Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Hebrews 8:12
For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.

I John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Doesn't seem God sees them as defective or flawed for their pasts.
In fact some of the greatest people in the bible had their sins spoken of, yet were still used for great things. Not viewed as flawed and defective because of their past sins.
There was only one group in the bible who weaponized God's words to condemn others for their sins.

Why do you think being selective in a life-partner is "weaponising God's words to condemn others"? Doesn't that sound too much like the corrupt Biden accusing average patriots of being racists or terrorists simply because they're onto his scam?

What group was that?

Being selective in choosing a life partner is not the same as putting people down for their pasts, that God has forgiven and renewed that person.
