Ok, here's how I see it. And I'll probably get called an irreverent heretic for this analogy.
But say you see a hot chick in a bar, and you buy her a drink. Did she do anything to deserve it? Nah. But would you rather she accepted your offer, or rejected it? I'm guessing that, if you were hoping for rejection, you wouldn't have made the offer in the first place.
Jesus went through everything to pay for our sins. It's unfathomable, what He did for us. But it was done. It is finished. "And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost."

Calvinism has blinded you as to what these verses mean:
John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Acts 2:
37) Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Rom 10:1) Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
Rom 10:9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Rom 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Matt 11:28) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
1 Tim 2:4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Eph 1:13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Salvation is available to any man who will choose to believe.
