I would suggest reading my comment on another topic about expectations:

You are rightScripture tells us that if we first seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness that all good things will be added to us. Sometimes I think if we allow this search to dominate our thoughts, in some ways it can become a hinderence and maybe even an "idol" if we are not careful.
I have often wondered about this. I came to the conclusion that God does not want me to be married & have a family. At 45, I found myself believing that and am trying to come to accept this. Although I don't know what God's plan for me is, I try to live a simple life and be friendly to almost everyone.why so hard to find the right one for me? i know God has a plan for me and i believe its worth awaited..
well, actually i was thinking Fed ex, lol. hahaha!! you know im really kidding,There ya have it.
Have standards that are reasonable, standards that you also hold yourself accountable to. Pray for your future mate. After that, I pretty much think the rest is in God's hands.
Oh, one other thing: we can't expect our mate to show up on the doorstep like a pizza delivery person. My observation is that God rarely works that way. Not suggesting that you were thinking that; more reminding everyone(myself included) that this isn't the likely method of finding our spouse.
hey i like that shoey, amen and God bless you. i agree to seek first the kingdome, and be about His business.I honestly don't know. I agree with Ronsinsky and Naseritenation that if you focus on the search it can distract you. I got caught up in the search. It really did distract me from what Jesus was doing with me. My eye's drifted from the Promise Keeper to the promise. Thankfully He has tought me patiance over the years. I think it has brought me closer to Him. He has given me a peace and contentment about my situation, though. That being said, im still looking for a mate. It is just not my top priority. As it is written, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. God is our provider, He is the one who clothes us, feeds us, covers us, and protects us. If one thing my experience has taught me is to focus on Him and He will take care of the rest.
