Probably to answer the original questions in the post you would actually have to first believe that God does still commnicate in dreams. Im really the only one that would know personally that it was from God, due to the many personal signs, and confirmations. My question isnt whether it was God, I know it was, but was do you think that due to my life choices, that even though I am now it an awesome place and being prepared for my wife to come very shortly, that the person shown in my dream to be my wife could now be null and void and that she is not able to be my wife now and that the person that is about to enter my life will be another, according to Gods will.

Hey, lifeliker, don't discount the power of that dream, God just maybe does have your exact-visioned wife out there. Maybe He does. He does. Maybe He does. He does. Sorry, I was thinking of one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies with DUAL romances that WILL make you laugh and cry.

And, THIS movie is great, I think, guys, prior to figuring in your romanticness of popping the question.
Let the Lord lead, just saying MAYBE this song could figure into The Plan :D

Do you know that person from your dream? Is she single? If the answer to these questions is positive I think you should stop wondering, pray about it and do something in this direction.

I don't normally like writing (or reading) long posts, but I think I need to make an exception in this case. I hardly remember any of my dreams and I certainly haven't ever had any dreams or visions from God. "All" I have is the Word of God, but it seems that nobody has been in your situation before anyways so you won't get any "i know this from experience" answers anyways.

So, I'm going to work this kind of backwards by first looking at the end (of the Bible) and then looking back at the Old Testament.

The following are all of the instances I am aware of where people received a vision from God after Christ's resurrection:
Christ appeared to the disciples and others shortly after his resurrection(Evidence that he had conquered sin and death)
Saul (when he lost his sight and was saved).
Ananias (sent to heal Saul and "complete" his salvation).
Peter (abolition of the law)
Cornelius (command to help Peter spread his vision of the abolition of the law)
Paul (instructions on where to preach the gospel)*
Paul (reassuring that he was doing what God wanted)*
John (Revelations)

Of these, only one (Cornelius:Acts 10) was there no direct link between the vision and spreading the good news to the world. In Cornelius' case, there was still the link, it just wasn't directly revealed in the vision. Furthermore, only two (with the *) were dream visions. The rest happened during the day, often in the afternoon. So, if we stretch into the hypothetical, perhaps you, or this woman, were chosen by God to spread His word to many people(i'm not convinced). If so, the precedent shows that both parties involved in such an interaction were individually given visions and then came together (saul and ananias, peter and cornelius).

In my studying of the Bible, I've seen God's relationship with man change; with the most recent change occuring when Jesus conquered sin and death. Thus, the NT relationships between God and man seem to be most clearly and directly applicable to our current lives. Personally, I don't see any precedence in the NT of a vision or dream intended to create/develop a personal relationship. The God I see in the Bible doesn't do things the way you think He is.

Since you seem to want a somewhat hypothetical answer to your original question, I'll broaden my search in the Bible to include dreams and visions from the OT. In the interest of saving time, I'm only going to isolate a few specific examples, I realize that this won't be an exhaustive analysis but I'll give it my best shot.

Balaam - God appeared to Balaam and instructed him to do something. Balaam obeyed, but God knew how dangerous the thing he was doing was. So He appeared again, and repeated His original message.
Jonah - God commanded Jonah to preach in ninevah. Jonah tried to run the other direction and ended up immediately in a big fish belly

Abraham - God appeared to Abraham to help dissolve a kind of tricky situation. Abraham had slept with one of the servants of his wife. She became pregnant, but some animosity grew between Abraham's wife and the servant. After the servant fled and God appeared to her, God also appeared to Abraham and explained that God would give his wife (Sarah) a son even though she was really old.

In both Jonah and Balaam's, God re-appeared to them and very clearly and specifically said "Hey I already told you to do this, now go do it!" When God seemed to think it was important enough to give someone a vision, he also though it important enough to step in and prevent them from avoiding His will. They no longer had a choice "should I do this or not". It became "I must do this or die." In Jonah's case, God was acting as seen in the NT, He appeared in a vision to directly instruct Jonah where/how to spread God's word. In the case of Balaam, God seemed to be "threading the needle" and wanted to be certain that Balaam knew exactly what was expected of him.

With Abraham's vision, God had big plans for Sarah's eventual child. I chose this vision because it is one of few visions that seem highly personal and direct. However, in this case God had big plans for the child, and he made this clear in the vision.

In conclusion, I've been searching in both the OT and NT I can't find a vision of a future wife. I don't see any evidence that God would use a dream in the way you are claiming. Even if He does, we can see that when God thinks something is important enough to warrant a vision, he doesn't let any doubt remain. This all leads me inevitably to the dream not coming from God.

I'm not sure whether or not that dream was from God (that's probably up between you and God; I'm not really educated enough in the area of prophecies...), but what you do in your life can prevent God's will from happening (not that His will changes). I'm not sure where you stand on that, either, but that's what I've come to believe (2nd Peter 3:9 and 1st Timothy 2:3-4). Don't worry about being "right with God" or anything, really - He loves you more than any human could fathom. Plus, if God showed you who your wife will be, He wouldn't leave you without a way for it to happen.

I have had a similar situation. Except it was not a dream (not that i dont believe in dreams and visions, but i've totally had those too, but not for this situation)

Too much of a long story to explain...

But what i do know is that I was sure it was God, but it didnt happen as God said....

But He did minister to me this way:

Even though God is omniscient, It was not His plan for Adam and Eve to sin. They were just suppose to obey God (Plan A) But because the didn't follow His rules He had to set up a salvation ( Plan B)

No,w there is no other way for us to walk with God unless we follow plan B; So now plan B........... is Plan A

I dont know what a happened along the way with you... and still you dont even know if that word over your life is lost: how many years passed b4 Joseph became the Prime Minister in Egypt, How many years passed b4 David became King, how many years passed b4 Abraham had his son Isaac

Continue to seek God, just to make sure its not flesh leading the way
God bless

Thanks for your input girls n guys, appreciated. Ive been able to pick a couple of things from most of the posts that have been helpful :) Some good points made. I know that some people dont believe that God would communicate about this kind of thing through dreams, but he does lol. He also interpreted it for me in an open vision, which pretty much seals it for me as being from Him. But like i said, the things that are personal between you and God dont need to be proven to you or approved of by others, God himself deals with us in a way that we know when our experience is genuine - this includes it being in line with Gods word.

But what i do know is that I was sure it was God, but it didnt happen as God said....

But He did minister to me this way:

Jandian,

Thank you for sharing this. I had kind of contemplated this idea a little but didn't want to make my previous post any longer...

The idea that God could use our reaction to a vision to accomplish His will, even though the vision may not be fore-telling seems legitimate to me.

In this particular instance the holy spirit said "she is to be your wife" in the vision. I didnt interpret it that way when i had the original dream, and didnt know what a lot of the dream meant until the vision. Very powerful experience, so i think in this case it would make God a liar if a dream that was fortelling.

The purpose of a vision is to advise us for future actions. My point is that God has plans for all of our lives, Sometimes He gives us a little peep into the future whether it by by dreams and visions or otherwise.... the thing is people have choice, and if the people involved don't submit to God's will for whatever reasons then it may not happen as God said not because God made a mistake, but because people disobeyed in some way. This has happened throughout the bible. God speaks a word over their lives, but they don't listen and the opposite happens...God is faithful to His word; people often aren't

God is NOT the author of confusion. If it is God you just know that your know and there is no question. That's about it!

I didnt have any confusion, in fact i dont think ive ever had such an unwavering faith and certainty. The uncertainty came in only after walking out of 4 yrs of freedom in Christ back into heavy drug use and addiction, Which does bring confusion and many other bondages.

Well, this is exactly what I meant, your question shows that this issue has you confused. If you really know it was from God and it hasn't happened yet, give it right back to Him, consecrate it, then let it go and keep doing God's will on a daily bases, if it was meant, it will come but worrying about it will not help you.
I still would be careful about these visions of God showing someone their spouse years ahead of time, the enemy can play tricks on you also. If it at all brings confusion, I would let it go!

----yes, to go back to your original post, lifeliker, having a 'right' relationship with God is an AWESOME thing, but to have any confusión of your life with God COULD cause confusión in your dreams. The Lord leads us in life and it is our job to cast all our sins to Him and then just realize God will handle things in a way that is great for us because God is good, always good, always wanting the best for us . :)

God will do WHATEVER necessary for us-- even speak to us in dreams-- to accomplish His purpose for our life that will ultimately be for us to being glory to Him . When God has spoken to me in dreams , as I see it, and, yes, I MUST, like Jonah, like Abraham, like Noah, like many hearing from God, have the FAITH, to believe the tie-in importance in my life. And, I can't really explain it to you, lightning or AAA, because yoy have to believe me to believe that God really has got something across to me in a dream or even a vision.

But I am not saying I am even 100% certain it is God speaking in my dream, just I am saying that the power of what is in the dream greatly ties in to my life and my personal relationship with God included a great faith inside me to pray to Him that I see ALL signs He gives me so I best follow His plan for my life :)

Yes wise words, and I have done exactly that, I gave it back to him around a year ago, truly and fully, and Im not worried about it in the slightest anymore. The original post was to put the question out there, and it brings up many interesting topics including free wil, predestination etc. I would never have posted this kind of subject if I hadnt fully resolved it within myself and come to my own conclusions already. Its not real wise to open something so personal and important to general public forum if you havent resoved it already.. I learnt a lot through this whole situation in my own life and had to change the way I saw some things and what I believed. So really this post was out of interest to see what people believe, i feel it raises some very good questions, especially when a lot of people think that they can live life their own way and expect Gods best.

Hi there lifelike, i would like to say to you, that it is very much possible that god truly did reveal your future wife to you. I say this because i have had visions and dreams that have come true. And if you truly believe, then God may lead you in the right direction. I wish god would reveal to me who my future special someone will be.

Yes, this echoes the words of my lateral post, as I believe I have heard God's prompt in dreams, and, I am.sure, in some cases not just words stay with me but, yes, I believe in the 'visiones,' Someone said our subconscious can speak to.us. True, but who is inside you, the Holy Spirit, as my Pentecostal faith had me learned to believe and then see the power of God differently working than my conservative faith, Nazarene upbringing.

But God says that we should not demand for signs, PROOF, of His existence, and, I do not telll of my dreams to say 'YES, GOD EXISTS, I'VE SEEN HIM FIRSTHAND.' Absolutely not!

. The pharisees asked for signs of PROOF that Jesus was real and, Jesus, in so many words, said that we MUST have FAITH that God exists. I have faith that my dreams WILL come true. God's timing, but, they will come true, IF a vision is planted in my head while I sleep.

By going through trials, the hardest trials of our life the most telling, we will see God working in our life. My pastor uses the term 'the preponderance of coincidences' for how we can only see God as the way something happened so, so, so, miraculously in our life.

Yes, Jandian, IF we do not TRUST our lives in God for helping us, protecting us, then we will not have faith to believe that that.vision or dream will come true.

I said this earlier, but think about what would have happened if Joseph (Mary's) had not followed the visions God gave Joseph. Would Jesus have made it if Joseph deserted Mary.
Would Jesus have made it if vision from God to take Jesus and leave Bethlehem had not come to Joseph as Herod s was preparing to kill Jesus?

Would we have had a Saviour of the world without a 'dream'?

I have crazy, random dreams. Like dreams are all cut into pieces and then mixed all together and having them run in random.

The Original Poster had this dream 15 years ago.. since he's writing about this topic.. I'll assume he never did meet this woman from his dream. Look we need to stop looking for and waiting on signs. We need to go out into life and make our purpose. Stop waiting for future wives and the one. Meet women.
