Hi everybody,
This is my first post here. I was looking for a place where I can ask some religious questions and here I am.
Now, back to the question. I think there is pretty much an agreement among Christians that not only (true) Christians will go to heaven but pagans too, and that includes Muslims for example. In order for them to be accepted in heaven they have to live a good life, so to speak. But now we have a problem. What exactly is "good"? For a Muslim who knows a different Jesus than Christians, "good" means obeying Muhammad's commandments which include killing people in the name of Islam. One such "good " Muslim is considered terrorist for the rest of the world. However for all he knows, he lives a good life.
Will he go to heaven?
There is only one Jesus. Do you know Him? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. Jesus said, "
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
And Peter said:
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
So to answer your first question, will Muslim Jihadists go to heaven? That's actually a presumptuous, judgmental type of question that can't be answered. Because you are actually asking: will all Jihadist Muslims go to heaven because of their jihadist beliefs? As far as, will a Muslim go to heaven? That's presumptuous and it all depends on the Muslim. If a Muslim believes in Jesus as the only begotten Son Of God then he will go to heaven.
Pagans do not go to heaven, only those who believe in Jesus go to Heaven, based on the verses I already showed you. Also, it's wrong to think you have to live a good life in order to get to heaven. Then you ask, "What exactly is good?" The bible says,
there is none that doeth good, no, not one. And, "
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Nobody in the world is good enough to deserve to go to heaven, and that's why Jesus is the only way to heaven. Because it means that the only way to get to heaven is to have your sins forgiven, so that "goodness" or "righteousness" is automatically imputed upon you by Faith. And the only way that could ever happen is for you to receive and profess Jesus, as your Lord and Savior. Jesus is the only one in all of History who died and suffered for the sins of the whole world and rose again from the dead. So,as I said, There's only one Jesus. There might be a whole slew of prophets, but there's only one begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ. So, to answer the question, what is "good"? Believing and receiving Jesus as your Lord and Savior is good. Rejecting Jesus is evil. That's the basic difference between good and evil. What sins each of us may or may not be guilty of is irrelevant.
Then you seem to be under the impression that if a person thinks he's doing good, when he's actually doing evil that we should go by what he thinks instead of by the Truth. But, no, he won't go to heaven even if he thinks he's doing good when he is actually doing evil. You also said that he's just doing what he feels any good Muslim should do, which is to follow Mohammad's commandments. In order for him to be following Mohammad's commandments he would have to be following the letter of the law of the Holy Koran. The Jihadists teach that if they kill anybody who is not Muslim, (Infidels) and especially if you die killing the infidels (such as in suicide bombings) then it will be instant paradise for you. Well, from what I understand, Mohammad, himself, never taught such doctrine. Even the Muslims who study the Koran will tell you that the Koran doesn't teach that. That kind of Jihadist doctrine was instigated at a later time by the caliph's who wanted to establish Islamic states. And the modern day jihadist movement was started by modern day Jihadists. Not by Mohammad.
Islam is a religion.
Christianity is a religion.
Buddhism is a religion.
Atheism is a religion.
Animism is a religion.
Judaism is a religion.
etc. etc. etc. and so on and so forth.
There are lot's of religions.
But Jesus isn't a religion. He's a person who died for the sins of everybody in the world, regardless of what religion they belong to. So all we have to do is believe in Him and He will forgive all our sins and take us to heaven with Him.
So, to rephrase your initial question "
Can(instead of "Will") a Muslim Jihadist go to Heaven?" Yes. Most definitely! All he has to do is repent of his sins and ask Jesus to Forgive him and believe that Jesus is the Christ, the only begotten Son of God, who died for his sins and rose again from the dead. Then God will give him the free gift of everlasting life.
So, to follow that up with, can a Jew or a Buddhist or an animist or an atheist or a communist or anybody from any other religion go to heaven? Yes. All they have to do is repent of their sins and believe in and receive the Savior of the world Jesus Christ.
