I'm a widow and I am planning to look into adopting or fostering. I'd pick the children not picked for a while so I could show them love through Jesus. Some couples have 4 or 5 boys or girls instead of adopting the sex they want and giving them a home. Good and relative question and I think even one parent, and a couple dogs, would be better than sitting in a care facility waiting and waiting.
Yes I would consider adopting a child (not a newborn, probably a few years old) in the future. However I am not ready yet as I would need a full time remote job and a house, at a minimum. I am also not fully ready to "settle down" yet. I plan to stick with my current job for awhile and that requires travel. I would also prefer a spouse who is open to adoption.
'adopted' pets before so child wouldnt be too much different, just depends if one needed a good home. Ive never had one offered to me before though!
If your siblings have children and you dont, its usually the case that you are next of kin and named as guardian in the parents will if anything should happen to them. I probably wouldnt refuse if that ever happened. Often these things are not really in anyones control...planned parenthood is often a misnomer.
With animals/strays usually they find their way to you rather than the other way round. Any creature that comes to you must be considered a gift from God.

adopting a baby requires quite a bit if care though you just be ready to do it cos its 24/7 ...the baby needs to be fed and touched and to be made feel secure, if you cant do that or bond with a baby it wont do the baby any good. (attachment parenting they call it) you have to be prepared to give up all your time unless you are very wealthy and can afford a nanny. Basically YOU ARE the nanny. Parenthood isnt just see them for an hour and put them to bed and bring them out for photos and buy stuff for them. They are growing everyday and learning ...babies do not thrive on neglect.

Because a child needs both sexes to receive the psychological health they'll need in adulthood. I speak from experience on this issue.
Agreed, but I think having one parent is better than no parent. If a child grows up in a group home, they are getting more guidance from the other foster kids than from an adult.

The world can only barely stand one of me. Two of me is not something to be contemplated.
Most of the people I've known who adopted kids as single women, it was due to having family members who couldn't keep themselves sober with their pants up and it was a way to keep the child with family while still giving them a better life. I'm not likely to have such a situation in my family as a single and since I find taking care of a dog to cramp my style a bit and with a dog there's no consequences for leaving your 7 year old home alone for hours at a time. So I can't see myself adopting a kid as a single, and don't know of anyone who would be likely to leave me a kid that would change my mind.
