we hang out snail, you got us! just please shhhhh cause I got my husband fooled what with putting the washing machine on the spin cycle just as he walks in the door & leaving the vacuume out i have him fooled into thinking i'm actually doing something.
Just going to add another two cents...I've noticed as a married man (or boy, considering what I'm about to say...) that when I cook or clean or do whatever household chore, it is "special" and I often think I should get some kind of acknowledgment and appreciation. After all, I do work hard and also am the primary caretaker for the physical building that is the house as well as the yard. Thing is, 95% of the time my wife does the dishes...and I don't acknowledge or appreciate her for this. It's "her job". This in spite of the fact that she, too, works hard outside of the home to make ends meet. When she cleans the house (again, 95% of the time) or does the laundry (ditto), well, that's not "special". But when I do it, it is special and should be recognized and, ideally, rewarded. Maybe some lazy "me" time would do.
I honestly only today realized how much I feel like I should be rewarded for my contributions and how little I reward my wife for hers. I renounce it. It is a sinful attitude to have. Not only will she be acknowledged and appreciated from now on, but I will do the chores that need to be done without seeking the same for myself. (By the way, this is called repentance.)
I dare say there people like that but you will find them in your own country aswell.
You mean British expats, of course.
Yeah..from what I have learned...I would rather this day a mother be a stay at home mom. A husband to work. If the family has a business together that is even better. I know I am really a restless and ambitious person always wanting to learn and assert my independence. I know that for me it is easier to work than to spend detailed time with my kids. I just what them to do it already. However, I have to work hard at settling down and doing this mom thing. I admire woman who have the patience to sit with their kids and help them articulate their words as they read...who help them hold their pencil right. I mean when you send them to school there is a teacher to 22-35 kids in a class. How is it these kids get one on one attention? It is at home. No one can expect a teacher to raise them. yet they put their kids in a classroom of wild beasts for 7 hours and expect them to come out like a freshly waxed and detailed Ferrari. I mean come on! The only way the kid is going to be this way is if they have family doing what they should be doing. Plus teachers are not the most ethical people on the planet. Take for instance a high school science teacher I know who is an evolutionist,he smokes pot and parties on the weekends- sometimes during the week, has sex with random women, dominates conversations with his expertise yelling at Christians as if they are as he says it "totally delusional", and sits there all day debating and demoralizing high schoolers. Well..you send your kids to school and then not be there at home even during very impressionable times- especially adolescence, and see what they end up doing with their life??? More than ever should a parent be home with their kid until they are gone. Just my opinion. If I could I would, but I can't so I give it to the Lord in faith. Though I am sure that if I had the opportunity I would quit working and even college which would be a huge shot to my ego just to be with them and make sure I do my real job. There is no reason for a mother to not be the woman she is and fulfill her position in the home.
I don't know about women who do not have kids. I think they should have a choice though. I can't imagine what I would do with that much time on my hands though. I'd imagine that a woman would need to be ministering in some way. I don't see why men can't just accept their opportunity as a man. I mean you guys have a noble and admirable position. I know that if I was a guy I would take pride in providing for my family and especially my wife just because I could not because of some obligation or roll. I know from a female point of view we want to do that for our families. I want to do it for my kids and often think that I don't need a man to do it. But it still seems off to me...seems incomplete. This is probably because I see that the position of a mother is being compromised and the position as a father is unattainable.- Men can respect women, but she is not ever a man. Women can respect men, but no matter what they do (compromise) they are not women.
That was a good post distinctive, I think all males think like that.. according to us just washing the dishes deserves a medal lol.
I have heard so many opinions of what the role of a woman should be. What is in your heart? What is the place of the woman when married, when single, and when she has children?
There is no male or female in christ. We can all operate and function in all roles. Depending on the call of God, and His purpose, to reveal His Glory. Practically, the mother is the nurturing role, the father is where children find their indentity, so this needs to be taken into account, but God is able to father a fatherless child or nuture them, by the Spirit or through male or female. The Church is the last institution on Earth to free woman to be who God has called them to be, we have woman in every office and position in the world but in the Church we are still behind, not permitting the to speak or rule with any authority. We will all rule with Christ - male and female sons, not just the males, while the females serve us and remain quiet. I thank God for my mother, our father was absent even when he was around, and i gained alot of strength from her. She taught me the word of God, not my father, she was the one that remained faithful to God. I love my dad too, he just didnt know how to love or to get healed. Thats ok, it just gives more room in me for God to redeem to His glory. I believe instruction can come through a woman in the family just as much as it can through a man, and if we take the staunch chauvinistic approach we can miss out on what God has for us. Let woman lead, let men lead, let children lead, but let God lead." Im the head of this household!" well then prove it. Love your wife, teach you children the ways of God, and if you dont have it, admit it and let the one that does step forward and be humble enough to accept that God is just as strong a leader, Apostle, Teacher, Evangelist, or Pastor in your wife as He is in You.Then watch all heaven break loose. God wont bless dishonour.
I praise up my hubby when he washes the floor, cleans the kitchen whatever, he does it quite often & this makes me happpppy! I gladly give him praise and dont expect it any more than he would expect me to change the oil in my car or stock the woodshed, or fix the pipes when they burst in the cold under the chilly crawl space or clean the chimney... just naming a few of his things off the top of my head. I am a stay at home mom. When he works it is my job to work too. I like him to come home to a clean house & he doesnt mow the lawn or shovel snow much cause why should he after a long hard day? If I worked out of the home (other than our roofing company) I would probably feel differently about the house tasks. The biggest thing I love is when I'm having a bad day & do very little he loves me just the same and tells me relax, you work hard & deserve to kick it sometimes. I'm very blessed to be able to be home... I do however miss being in public sometimes... now if only i could find a job where i work 2 hrs/day weekdays only with summers and christmas off!
I hope you tell your mom this. What a blessing to hear. Are you a worship leader?
