Don't over analyze it. The gospel teaches that new believers should get baptized. Quit looking for excuses not to do it; just obey the gospel and do it. There will be plenty of time to learn its full significance once it's done.
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
1 Corinthians 15:3 KJV
“Know ye not, that
so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life.
….
knowing this, that our old man is crucified with h
im, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Now
if we be dead with Christ, we believe that
we shall also live with him: Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”
Romans 6:3-4, 6-8, 11-12 KJV
“in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by
the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And
you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath
he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;”
Colossians 2:11-14 KJV
“Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Acts 2:38 KJV
We believe Jesus died for our sins and was buried i to death on our behalf , and rose from the dead for our justification . That’s why we get baptized we believe the truth of that so we get baptized
in his name who died for our sins
In his name we are buried beneath the surface and then raised back up by the man of God baptizing us is in his name .
The effective power is in believing when we’re baptized we should know we’re getting buried with Jesus who died for our sins and the rest of our life is lived in his resurrection the birth of the new man who is raised up having his sins remitted and God says this of them who are joined together in baptism with his son
“and lo a voice from heaven, saying,
This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Matthew 3:17
baptism is an act of faith because we believe what he said
“For ye are all the
children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For
as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. ( who died for our sins and rose up for our justification ) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And
if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Galatians 3:26-29 KJV
“The book of the
generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David,
the son of Abraham.”
Matthew 1:1 KJV
