How we are saved: Through repentance and faith.

Repentance; a change of mind from thinking you are good enough to earn salvation, to believing there is absolutely nothing you can do to justify yourself.

Faith; placing your trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the complete remission of your sins. (1 Corinthians 15: 3-4, Matthew 26:28)

By grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus alone.

How we know we are saved: Knowing we are saved is based on the promises of God, who cannot lie. (1 John 5:13, John 11:25-26)

How and when works and obedience come into play etc: After salvation we are given good works to do from the Father (Ephesians 2:10), for His glory and our sanctification. Good works and obedience are essential in a Christians life, but have no bearing on the believers salvation.

Whether or not you believe salvation can be lost. Absolutely not. Once one is saved, nothing in all creation can snatch us out of the Father's hand - not even ourselves. Salvation is not based on us in any way, but is God's gift, given freely to all who will believe. (John 10:28-29, Romans 8:38-39)

How we are saved - by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ alone.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NASB)

How do we know we are saved. - by faith

1 John 5:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

John 3:36 (NASB)
[SUP]36 [/SUP] "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

( notice that the one who does not "obey" the Son is the one who does not believe in Him ) ..that's why Paul called it the obedience of the faith.


Works and obedience : - these stem from the life of Christ that is in and through us...these are the fruit not the root of a changed life. Doing good works and walking in obedience are the fruit of the life of Christ in us being manifested outwardly.

Ephesians 2:10 (NASB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

[SUP]18 [/SUP] But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

As we see Christ - we see our true selves as in a mirror as we are one in spirit with Him. This transformation is done by the Spirit of God and it is in the passive voice which means that the Spirit is doing the changing - not us.

We participate by allowing His life to live in and through us by grace through faith. The things that hinder us fall off of us naturally as we trust in Him completely - when we see what He has already done for us in His finished work.

Salvation cannot be lost: - it is a gift , not something to earn or "maintain" by our own D. I. Y. self-effort/righteousness/holiness.

John 10:27-29 (NASB)
[SUP]27 [/SUP] "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;

[SUP]28 [/SUP] and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.[SUP]

29 [/SUP] "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.Romans 11:29 (NASB)

It is crucial to know that the old man is dead in order reckon ourselves to be alive to God. The failure to understand the new creation in Christ..the inner man of the heart created in righteousness and holiness - will lead to all kinds of errors in "trying" to live the Christian life.

Romans 6:6-7 (NASB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;

We are saved by His love, we start experiencing that amazing love and know we are His, as that love from Him grows it changes us to the point we want to share it with others. No nothing can separate us from that love once we have truly experience it.

I don't think i fully understand the gospel. my understanding of it isn't much only God's understanding of it can show and teach me the full depth of the gospel and something tells me it's beyond anything the human mind can comprehend in a sense of the beauty and the radiating love is so deep shines so brightly that we would not be able to handle it with our human bodies our eyes could not look at it because it radiates so.

The gospel feels to me like more than the story of creation and of what Jesus did, I can't help but feel it's his plan itself the grand scheme of before creation the love he poured into everything as he made the earth even something as tiny as an ant beginning and the end , I am who was and is and is to come I know these words but I never really knew any deeper meaning to them, but perhaps these words are a vital piece to the puzzle

How we are saved

True repentance, Which means we become as the tax collector. We empty ourselves completely. Admit we are sinners, Admit we have no hope of an eternity wich God in our currrent state, and there is no possible state we could be in which would cause us to earn being united with God. Once we have repented, We must trust God (have faith) which means we are assured, and confident that God will save us, and keep his promise. Anything short of full assurance is non faith.
One we get here, we call out on the name of the lord to be saved, as the tax collector did.

Romans 8:16
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

God will show us, We will have a change of hearts, The things we used to love, we now hate or are convicted. The world no longer seems like a fiun place, but a dangerous place. And the worldly people we used to love to hang out are no longer as fun, we see that we would rather hang out with the church,

Immediately we should se a change, The more sanctified we become (mature) the more works we will show.
Faith works (see hebrews 10 for examples of people who have true faith) We have been made new creatures in Christ, Our new nature will act more like itself and less like the old nature.

Eternal life is eternal, not conditional. Jesus said in John 6 whoever believes in him will never hunger, never thirst live forever, never die, has eternal life, and will be raised by him, If salvation can be lost. Jesus is a liar

The gospel is the "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16). To BELIEVE the gospel is to trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of your salvation.

The gospel is a message of grace to be received through faith. The gospel is not a set of rituals to perform, a code of laws to be obeyed or a check list of good works to accomplish as a prerequisite for salvation.

(BTW, for the record, it's not my case alone, although it has a lot of sola/alone to it.)

As for the rest of the questions:
If there is no faith, there is no works. It is not enough to say, "I have faith in a chair." One must sit in the chair because of that faith. And yet even a toddler will sit on a broken chair, not knowing there is a reason not to trust that chair. So works without faith is possible. Faith without works is dead.

Salvation cannot be lost, however, the real question is "Are you truly saved?" I've seen seeds growing in a plastic bowl. They are doomed to wither and die, unless they are transplanted into his nutritious soil. Even then, they aren't plants until they grow up and produce good fruit/serve their purpose. There is endurance to the end, however, even that is Sola Gratia Solus Christus. The plant did nothing but that which plants do in the right soil. It is nothing to brag about except the beauty of the soil.
