I understand your point. But this is just a reminder. If we're not reminded, we forget. It may sound harsh, but I say it out of love. God bless.

Please don't make excuses. I know you're doing it out of love. I'm just asking you to examine yourself and look at not WHAT you share but the WAY you share God's Word with others.

O please come off your religious words and speak from yourself. You shouldn't need reminders anyway.
We need to be reminded of who we were. Because it's quite easy to walk astray. I've been there.

I know. I'm not making excuses. I admit my mistakes. But Christ did speak harsh to a lot of people in the NT. Just saying. But, I know what I did wrong. I can't undo the past, but I can certainly not make the same mistake twice. Thank you. God bless.

God's holy wrath is part of who he is. You can't ignore it. His wrath is part and parcel of His incredible love. He hates sin so much because it's not of Him and because sin cursed the whole of creation. Think about it like a loving parent disciplining their child. If they didn't discipline their child, they would easily become way-ward. Sure, the child has free will to do their own think but if they're trained to walk with God, they're more likely to continue in that path. :)

No one has to be trained to walk with God, God is always talking to us. Are you telling me that we need training from a preachers words?

No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying God's holy wrath is necessary like the loving discipline of parent. There are consequences for doing wrong things and for sin. God loves us so much, he doesn't let us get away with our sin and continue to walk with the Enemy. He wants to transform us into his Son's image, more and more each day. God isn't just an angry, jealous God, he's also gracious and merciful. He's beyond multifaceted. We've seen what happens to parents who don't discipline their children, either because they don't care or want to be best friends with their kids. They fall off the deep end. God doesn't want that for us.

There is only wrath if we hate the truth. w hen we love and face the truth about ourselves there is no wrath. NONE
There is no deep end only a new beginning.

No, there is only wrath if we read the Bible and study what it says.

Oh God, another intellectual that doesn't know the word is in the soul already. If its , reading about God won't be understood anyway. I am afraid you don't know the Holy Spirit.

I don't think I want to round and round with you on this matter.
Thanks anyway

I don't understand comments like this. What of those that NEVER (past and present) had even an opportunity to view any scripture, let alone a bible?

Eternal life is not found in a book. Why place emphasis on it as if the bible is going to save you?

Errr... Tintin was being sarcastic.

He wasn't saying that wrath COMES FROM the Bible, but that wrath is DISCUSSED in the bible.

He meant that if you actually believe the bible, then you must believe God has wrath.

Thanks for judging me. Also, I don't think it's wise to disrespect God's name. If you knew me, you'd know I don't just say things to be controversial or to counteract others, I actually care about what God's Word says. I find God's wrath is present in the Bible. I've given good reasons for his wrath, comparing it to the loving discipline of a parent. Jesus isn't some nammy-pammy push-over. He's the Servant King! God speaks to the hearts of all his creations (those who are human) but not all choose to follow him. I do know the Holy Spirit, to suggest otherwise, especially without knowing me, is just plain rude.

Yes, Spirit. My other comment was sarcastic. Thanks, Maxwell. God's wrath is mentioned in the Bible.

We are not children of the devil. Christ used this statement, but do you remember who he was addressing ? That is very important to keep to the subject an object.

I understand you want to put together a lesson, and illustrate a point, but taking important facts and meanings away from scriptures as you do it, is handling God's words carelessly imho.

Many preachers do this now a days . There is a lot of talking, but very little scripture. It just kinda gets to me after what I have witnessed lately.

The flesh isn't bad. It will always sin, but it can be used for God. It's just that the flesh will fade away, but the spirit is the one that remains.
And Jesus baptism is where He took our sins. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament coincide with each other, Meaning, each verse has a back-up. In the Old Testament, the sins of Israel were paid for through the sacrifice of an animal. A priest from the Aaronic priesthood would lay his hands on the animal, and the sins of Israel were passed onto the animal. Then, the animal was killed, and the sins of Israel were paid for for an entire year. But, the blood of an animal was only temporal. So, God sent His son. Jesus is known as the Lamb of God. That's because Jesus was our sacrificial offering. John the Baptist, the one who baptized Jesus comes from the lineage of the Aaronic priesthood. So, in fact, he was qualified to pass the sins of the entire world onto Jesus. Unlike the animal, Jesus wasn't killed immediately. Instead, He lived His life for three years, for us. Then, He died, and resurrected three days later. The only reason Christ died, was because He had our sin on Him. Because a sinless man, cannot die. "For the wages of sin is death.."
Jesus was sinless. But, because our sins were on Him, and He became our sin bearer, He had to. There was no other choice.

This is basically a short version of it all. There's a reason the Bible is written the way it is.

God bless.

Unfortunately, John the Baptist was of the tribe of Judah and not a Aaron's line. Aaron and Moses were of the line of Levite.

John the baptist was a Levite because his parents were Levites.

It happened that in the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a certain priest, Zechariah by name, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. Luke 1:5

Alright. I can help you with that. Well, God can actually.

Forthe wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord. -
- Romans 6:23

Originally, we were meant for death. But God couldn't let us die, spiritually. Instead, He sent His son to take our place, because He knows that sinners can never enter His kingdom.

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John to be baptized by him.But John protested strenuously, having in mind to prevent Him, saying, It is I who have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me? ButJesus replied to him, Permit it just now; for this is the fitting way for [both of] us to fulfill all righteousness [that is, to perform completely whatever is right]. Then he permitted Him.And, when Jesus was baptized, He went up at once out of the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he [John] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. And behold, a voice from heaven said, This is My Son, My Beloved, in Whom I delight!
- Matthew 3:13-17

The only reason Jesus asked John to baptize Him, was because that was the only way to fulfill all righteousness. God's righteousness, and God's will. (John 6:38-40)
The reason Jesus took our sins at His baptism, is because of 1 John 5:8
"and there are three witnesses on the earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree [are in unison; their testimony coincides]."

And the reason I know for a fact that the word "water" represents Christ's baptism, is because of 1 John 5:6
"This is He Who came by (with) water and blood [[a]His baptism and His death], Jesus Christ (the Messiah)—not by (in) the water only, but by (in) the water and the blood. And it is the [Holy] Spirit Who bears witness, because the [Holy] Spirit is the Truth."

The word coincide means that without one, you can't have the other. They literally support each other. And without the understanding of what really took place at Christ's baptism, one cannot enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:5)

Now, John the baptist comes from the lineage of the Aaronic priesthood (Luke 1:5)

In the Old Testament, the sin of Israel was passed onto an animal. And it was killed. In the same manner, God became our sin bearer. That's why He was known as the Lamb of God, after, and not before He was baptized (John 1:29)
John was literally qualified to pass the sins of the entire world onto Jesus. That's why in Matthew 11:11 it says that there is no one greater than John the Baptist, who is born of a woman because John was destined to represent all of mankind in the passing of sin, onto Jesus. Yet, He who is least in the Kingdom of God, is greater than John the Baptist.

That's what I can tell you, for now. If you do have any questions, feel free to ask. And the Lord shall answer.
God bless.

Forgive me if you've already changed your stance as I haven't read all the posts on this thread but why, if by baptism sins are transferred from one to another, would John state that he needed to be baptized by Jesus? If what you're saying about baptism is correct, then John is stating that he (John) needs to take Jesus' sins upon himself. That sounds like a completely ridiculous statement and not something John the baptist would dare think since his job was to point the world to Jesus. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't John aware of Jesus' sinlessness?

"God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming to the world." (John 1:6-9 NLT)

Also, IF Jesus, after his baptism, had all the sins of the world on him, WHY would God say "This is my dearly loved Son, whom brings me great joy." If Jesus had become sin (as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:21) at this point in time, God would have turned away from him.

Can you please explain what you meant in your other post? Cause it was quite short.
I was referring to my post #48.
I would like your answers and comments for:
a. did you say we ARE all children of the Devil or we WERE all children of the Devil?
The minute Adam and Eve partook of that fruit and disobeyed God, sin entered their hearts, and they were immediately separated from God. From children of God, they became children of the Devil. Because you can only have one father. It's either God, or the Devil. And truthfully, we all had the same father; Satan. Yet, we never realized it.

Are you saying sinning will make one child of Satan?
b. So most Christians are one moment Satan's children and the other moment God's children?
Satan was cursed to feed on the dust of this world. Adam came from dust. Adam's flesh, I mean. And the flesh, is sin. It's the whole definition of sin. So, Satan could only feed on our sin.
c. Dust is not sin. Otherwise you are implying God made man out of sin.
Cain brought His works before God. (His fruits and crops). Abel brought Jesus before God (the lamb). God favoured Abel, because Abel acknowledged the fact that His works can't save him.
The bible doesn't say Abel brought lamb. The bible says he brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock.
It could be an ox or goat.
The bible also says: "The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor."
It's the person and his offering.
Jonah represents us. The whale, is a fish. Fish speaks of faith; Jesus. Jonah entered the whale, and was there for three days before coming out. In the same manner, you have to enter Jesus, for three days; His death. Didn't Jesus die and resurrect three days later?
Where do you get this from? If it's from God He would have at least hinted that but the bible says: For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Yeshua was comparing himself to Jonah and the big fish to the earth.
Die to yourself, then resurrect with Him. He came to give life. His life. So in reality, all that Christ is becomes you. Because of Christ, you become sinless, righteous, just, perfect, holy and so much more.
So true believers ARE NOT sinners, correct?
You're a child of the Devil. Why? Because of sin. But, you can become a child of God. How? Through Jesus. Don't just say you believe Him. Know Him, understand Him, trust Him, rely on Him, and have faith in Him. Because faith has no power on its own. But faith in Jesus however, has tremendous power. I'm not saying this to condemn you. I was in your exact shoes. And I rebuked the fact that I used to be a child of the Devil. But ignoring it, won't change anything. I was condemned, lost, weary, broken, hurt, and loads more. But only because of Jesus, I became a child of God. And now, I can finally call God my Father.
Many were, or are but when you used "you" you have circled everyone reading your post, including true believers, as children of the Devil. You may be right, but then you may be not.

And to LT - you said I owe an apology to OP. Please tell me where I offended her.

No. He was sinless, but He had sin on Him. He became our sin bearer. Fine line between the two.
that seems contradictory I would say! Jesus was sinless up until when He was nailed to the cross, that is when He took our sins upon Himself.
