Not smart at all I can’t use Linux !
I stick to the easy windows
I got hung up on this because the title of the thread "From pc to cc 2021" was not an obvious title for me. Seems to me they could of come up with a better title like: Windows App for Christian Chat. If I were the website admin, I would of put a link to it under the top heading. "Christian Chat APP" Have it drop down and show the android and the windows app. If one is just beta you could put that in the title too. Example: "Windows Chat APP (Beta)".
Linux is not hard to use. Linux is just a kernel. Some Linux based Operating Systems are easy to use and some or not as easy to use. But most of them, it's just a problem of getting it setup the way you like it. Once you got that done, it becomes just as easy or in some cases easier to use then Windows. I was a full time Windows user from 1993 - 2013. I started going into Linux because of the way Microsoft designed Windows 8. They were trying to do away with the traditional desktop computer. I don't have a lot of money to just be buying new computer technology all the time. Fortunately Windows 8 flopped, and that forced them to upgrade it to Windows 8.1. When Windows 10 came out they didn't try that stunt again. But now they are trying yet another stunt with Windows 11. Telling everyone that their older hardware isn't secure enough to run it. What they really want to do is take more control away from the end user. Most Linux based operating systems don't play these kinds of stunts. I got a computer from 2007 still running, and I use it for checking weather maps, email, forums, making CDs and DVDs, just about everything I always used that old machine for, because I switched it over to a Linux Operating System. Linux keeps it out the landfill longer and is less wasteful.
The privacy issue is a big topic when it comes to Windows now days. Think about it like this. When you leave your house you lock your doors. Using Windows is like leaving your house unlocked to Microsoft. As long as Microsoft is being a good boy it's fine. The only problem is there proof that Microsoft is not a good boy. They take advantage of it's end users.
I'm not saying that everyone can or should switch to Linux. But I think with the direction that Microsoft and Apple have been heading in, it is something that everyone should be thinking about.
Just because Linux tends to be more private and secure does not mean every Linux based Operating System is. For example, Chrome Books are based on Gentoo Linux. Gentoo is good for privacy, but not Chrome Books. Chrome OS is put together by Google. The same goes for Android. Android uses a a Linux kernel, but after that the rest of it is Google. Google and Microsoft both share a lot of the same bad morality.
One of the biggest reasons why people stick with Windows is because of the hardware vendors. They have a special deal with Microsoft. They work with them, to make sure they got all the correct drivers working. Linux on the other hand, must make their own drivers. But this isn't always the case. Some vendors are nice to Linux. AMD Graphic Cards, for example are nice to Linux, they provide opensource drivers to Linux users. Where as Nvidia has often been known to be a pain in the butt. Nvidia does provide proprietary drivers for Linux, but they don't make them a high priority. I recently heard that is going to change soon. Another reason why people stick with Windows is the software vendors. There is software like Photoshop that has become and industry standard. So everyone wants to run it, and you got to use Windows to run it. But don't be fooled by all of this, Linux operating systems also has lots and lots and lots and lots of useful software that you've never heard of it. I can't even begin to name you all of the stuff I can install on this Linux Mint machine.
As far as Web Browsers go, Linux has got everyone you can imagine and more...
With all that being said, I still use Windows for 2 or 3 things. 1) Checking and Repairing the FAT or NTFS file systems. 2) Updating the firmware on my printer. 3) Checking the condition of my Kingston SSD drive.
When it comes to Chat Apps, this is the only website that I have come across that uses an App for chatting. In the past, when I went to chatrooms, I always did it through the web browser or an Instant Messenger.
