So, basically I would like to change my profile name. Is there a way to do this?

I believe this would require the assistance of one of the mods or admins.

Yes, you contact a mod. They delete your current account and start a new one. There is a small fee involved. $5 US. Creating a new account without going through mods can, possibly, get you banned.

FYI said fee is hearsay.

I'm speaking from experience. :)
Funny, i've spoken to others who have done this change and they paid.
All the mods cite this as well.

According to the posted rules..

8. Please do not register more than one chat nickname.

Registering multiple usernames is prohibited. Each person should have only one single identity in the chat rooms and the forums. Also if you want to change your username, understand that we have to delete your current account and let you register a new one (so you'll lose all data, though any forum posts will remain with the old username but with usertitle "Guest"). If you're not already a supporter of the site, we charge a $5 fee for such requests.

Perhaps, Sib, you fall under this banner? "If you're not already a supporter of the site, we charge a $5 fee for such requests."

I recall Oncefallen stating that they do it primarily to discourage frequent name changes; my impression has been that it's up to their whim and dependent on the situation and user. I wish I could expound further on whether it hinged on my supporting/not supporting status or not, but out of respect to the OP's thread and CC, I feel like I probably shouldn't disclose any of that info. :)

Heck, maybe out of further respect, I just won't say anything about the fee in the future. I don't want to step on any toes!

The $5 fee is a fact and yes, it is primarily to discourage users from routinely changing their nics. With a site that serves a couple of thousand active users it can become difficult for us to keep track of who is (or was) who when they keep changing their nics. In some cases we choose to waive the fee such as for persons who are subscribers or regular donors.
