This is why Lenovo and Dell are still true to their base.
Look at this Lenovo with those small red lines. It's a work of art for a Windows diehard.

Now you sound like me, talking about phones. They all look exactly the same these days.

ThinkPads are pretty good though. Every ThinkPad I ever owned is still running... As far as I know. They won't die even when you WISH they would die so you can justify getting a new computer, so I keep giving them away to kids at church when they get too old to do what I need.

This here brings tears to my eyes.
The unique floppy sound on startup, the spinning of the CD-Rom drive, the crunching sound of the hard drive as Windows tried to boot up in 5 minutes or so.
The Windows 98 sound scheme.
Those were the days

Me and my wife still have a Gateway with windows ME on it but it broke down years ago. I'm typing on the Gateway keyboard from the year 2000. Still works just fine, and I've played WOW and ff14 on it for years.

Not really die hard, but it was convenient. I can move on to something else easily though.

Please excuse me for piggy backing off your thread instead of starting a new one, as starting a new thread
is not something I would be keen to do under most circumstances. Plus I know there are techie types in here
haha who might be able to answer. I am wondering about something I have been seeing since yesterday
whenever a verse citation is given, as a link also appears that when hovered over activates Logos software
and the full verse/s is/are then given from the ESV in a little app that opens. This did not used to happen before.
Is anyone else seeing it? And/or do you know anything about it?

Can you point me to one of the links so i can see what's happening so i can understand the problem better?
Not sure what the logos software is and i assume you're running Windows 11?

Here is a very recent post of mine. Can you see, in very small blue font right under the panel, the verse citation? I can.
I never used to see that before yesterday. I have the verse citation under my panels so that when I look at my post stream, I can see what is there, because an image alone gives no info as to what has been posted, beyond just when and where. Same as just posting a video. If you do not include accompanying text, nothing shows in your post stream, and I want to know what any post is, plus it makes it more convenient for others as well. But I use the coding to make the font white so it cannot be seen on the boards, since the verse citations are on the panel. However this new thing makes the font for the verse citation a link and therefore visible.

Oh i see. You get this, right?

This is probably because some some hyperlink has been carried over during a copy/paste operation.
To avoid any hyperlinks or text formatting from another site, copy all the text into Notepad first.
Notepad removes any formatting.
Then copy it from Notepad and paste it here in the forum.

That way it will not have any hyperlinks or formatting from the original site.

I have been doing this for years just as you said but it changed yesterday.

I have posted that very same panel exactly the same way maybe one hundred times but it never did that before yesterday!

Ok, let's do a test here.
Can you show me the steps on how you do it, or where you copy it from and then i'll do the same thing on my end?

I copy it from my notepad document where I keep all my urls. It has been recorded there as is for years and posted many times before and that never happened before yesterday. Anyways I have a doctor's appt and must run. Did this always happen for you before when you saw my panels or is it new for you too?

What i saw is also new for me and i'm guessing some new code has been introduced during the copy/paste operation.
No worries, we can test this later. I'm sure there is an answer for it.
I'd like to test all the steps basically. Where do you copy the text from and how do you copy it.

Have a good one! :)

No, Eli, it is not some code I introduced through hidden links because these are the very same copy/pastes from my Notepad document that I have always used and the Logos software links never showed up before yesterday. I do also understand the hyperlink stuff and have explained it to others, even when Gary thought something was wrong with his device because he could not see my text until he quoted me... because then if the BB code is toggled off the text I always include becomes visible. Someone not experienced in parsing html would not know these things, not that I know a lot, but certainly enough to know it is not something I am doing as I see it in other people's posts, when it was never there before, and I do not usually copy/paste hyperlinks... I usually just make my own links if I want them. Obviously these links are unwanted, because my text, which is supposed to be hidden, no longer is.

For me any technical problem is an interesting puzzle to solve.
If you'd like to pursue this, let me know so we can go through the steps so at least we can get an answer as to why it's happening.
We might not fix it, but at least we'd know the why.
It was sort of like what happened with the emojis being lost in this site when chromium-based browsers got an update.
We couldn't do anything about it, because it was outside of our hands, but we knew the why. :)

It is bothersome. Thousands of my posts have been what I would call negatively affected by this. I tried changing the way I wrote out the citation, but it did not change the fact that the software kicked in and made it an unwanted visible link any ways. I suppose for some they would see it as a good thing because now any other post where any verse citation is given you just have to hover over the hyper-text link and up pops the verse, although UGH it is ESV translation.

This has been long overdue but gather around Windows users and let's celebrate the superiority of our Operating System.
We have always dominated the market and have enabled peer to peer networks since 1980s.
To my recollection, Windows wasn't known of until the late 80s early 90s, and even then, it was treated as the virus that it is for the bulk of the latter decade... An age when men were men, and computers were computers, and Apples were either Apples or computers running Windows 3.1...
