Oh, I can tell you that.

Mostly reformed people. We're very straight-laced when it comes to Bible understanding. Of course, Angela is reformed too, so even that's not a guarantee.

You might get some nondenoms doing the same thing, but only because you never know which group of people are going to create their own church and come up with their own standards. Given you're Methodist, (with Baptist in the mix, but Baptists are across the board on beliefs depending on which synod), it is unlikely you will get hit often with "women shouldn't teach" stuff. I'm assuming Stephen's Ministry is within your group of believers, so that's the kind of people who will come to you.

So, then the only time someone is going to get peeved when you counsel is when you run into the husband of a woman who has been beaten down with Me-Man; You-lowly-woman crap some turn God's word to fit their demands.

It's kind of like the problem hubby had when he was in the hospital. They offered him two different chaplains. One was a Catholic priest and the other one was "Z. All of the above." He needed someone who shared his beliefs, or it wasn't going to help.

The people that will come to you will come because they share your beliefs. If they don't, they walk away.
This is one of the reasons i love you...you do my homework for me. Lol.

God says that women get the same Spirit as men and can do anything a man can do, however in an assembly of men and women the men are to do the leading. Women can teach all they want, they are just commanded not to teach men or have authority over men.

Just my opinion here, I think the best approach is to not be too concerned about whether or not the person is a male or female in most Christian encounters, only in the area of a Pastor or Deacon or Elder should we insist that men be picked and that is because it is commanded from the bible to do so.

Imagine if you would..... you're at the hospital seeing your sick daddy.

A woman comes in, introduces herself as Pastor so&so from the little church across town. She tells you that she was going down the hall & God told her to come in your daddy's room & tell him God's going to heal him. Do you let her pray for him? Most people would, because they're glad if anyone comes in & prays for their daddy.

She lays hands on him & commands healing as the Spirit instructed.

In a few minutes, he opens his eyes, sits up in his bed & says he's hungry. The next day he signs himself outta the hospital because he's totally healed.

Now how many of you foolish people that believes women can't use authority would tell your daddy to get back in the bed because she's wrong? I'll guarantee none of you, because you'd be thankful your daddy's well.

I say that to say this..... Years ago, in Pentecostal circles, this was the norm! My wife's family had a woman pastor friend come by & pray for her family members that was sick.

My wife had severe vision problems when she was little, & the doctor told her she was in the last stages of glaucoma, & she would be blind in a matter of months.

This lady pastor was called & she came over & prayed for my wife, anointing her with oil.

A week or so later, she was scheduled to see a second specialist. When she walked out to the car to get in it, she noticed the sun was bright & her eyes started watering severely. When she finally got to the specialist, he examined her & told her parents she's never had glaucoma & she was only near-sighted. This was after an optometrist & the first eye specialist both declared she would soon be blind.
We've been married for 33 years, & she's never had any problems since, not even scar tissue in her eyes.

I submit to you that if this woman pastor was sinning as such, God would have never used her in the first place. God doesn't honor those that don't honor His Word.

I hear that women were "disqualified" because Eve was tempted & failed first.

Funny..... because Christ freed us from the curse, yet women are still made to pay for it.

After Adam and Eve sinned, the Lord knew that one of the consequences of that sin was that men would rule over women:

To the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing;
in pain you shall bring forth children,
yet your desire shall be for your husband,
and he shall rule over you." Gen 3:16 RSV

And I'll worry about that when when I find out women can't heal people. And I won't worry too long, because God already used me to heal.

Once more, Paul is not Moses, that is to say he was not introducing new, stone-engraved laws to replace the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He did address local traditions warning against any appearance of evil, pivotal word here, "appearance."

Go to the Author of the Gospel, the only Gospel, learn what He teaches about all souls. Read what He had to say to the Sadduccees who did not believe in the resurrection.

Our dark journey in this age, in this world, is only a role given to each of us until our final prfection. We will all be just like Jesus, amazing and wonderful, amen.

Someone posted a link saying Eastern Orthodox believe differently..too lazy to find and link it.
"The word 'presbyter' is, in the Bible, a synonym for bishop (Gr: επίσκοπος - episkopos), referring to a leader in local Church congregations. However, since at least the second century, it has been understood as distinct from bishop and synonymous with priest. Its literal meaning in Greek (Gr: πρεσβύτερος - presbyteros) is "elder." "
https://orthodoxwiki.org/Presbyter

No "pastor" in it. "Pastor" is modern American invention. Yes, the word itself (shepperd) can be found in the Bible, but...

Pretty sure he is talking about this:

"I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet." 1 Tm 2:12

The wording is almost identical.

thats the only one i can think of.

this is Paul speaking for himself. "I do not" when the Most High speaks through a prophet there is no question the command is coming from Him and not the prophet.

Paul had apostolic authority and all the Scripture is from God. If it would be like you say, we would not have it in our Bibles for 2000 years.

Maybe the term 'pastor' (another word for Sheppard) comes from when Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep and lambs?

If so I don't think anyone objects women physically feeding people, though some will spit out any spiritual food and demand a man fed them instead.
