Forgive me. I loved science, but I was never good at it.

Three states of matter I remember: liquid, gas, solid. I can see all three with water. Where does plasma fit in? It's sound? (Probably not, but that's as close to what I'm seeing in your answer. lol)

They don't usually teach about the fourth state of matter till you get to physics. This may help

What is plasma?

Plasma is the fourth state of matter. Many places teach that there are three states of matter; solid, liquid and gas, but there are actually four. The fourth is plasma. To put it very simply, a plasma is an ionized gas, a gas into which sufficient energy is provided to free electrons from atoms or molecules and to allow both species, ions and electrons, to coexist. The funny thing about that is, that as far as we know, plasmas are the most common state of matter in the universe. They are even common here on earth. A plasma is a gas that has been energized to the point that some of the electrons break free from, but travel with, their nucleus. Gases can become plasmas in several ways, but all include pumping the gas with energy. A spark in a gas will create a plasma. A hot gas passing through a big spark will turn the gas stream into a plasma that can be useful. Plasma torches like that are used in industry to cut metals. The biggest chunk of plasma you will see is that dear friend to all of us, the sun. The sun's enormous heat rips electrons off the hydrogen and helium molecules that make up the sun. Essentially, the sun, like most stars, is a great big ball of plasma

"Plasma is a phase of matter distinct from solids, liquids, and gases. It is the most abundant phase of matter in the universe; both stars and interstellar dust consist of it. Although it is its own phase of matter, it is often referred to as an ionized gas. This is similar to a normal gas, except that electrons have been stripped from their respective nucleons and float freely within the material. Even if only 1% of the atoms have lost their electrons, a gas will display plasma-like behavior." What Is Plasma? (with pictures)
What do they say about great minds? :)

Boy did you post that fast. :p

LOL. We must have posted that at the same time. I had to look it up because I was not sure I could properly explain exactly what plasma is aside from it use in the welding industry.

I'm impressed by your memory skills.
LOL. Don't be because I probably couldn't remember my own name if it wasn't printed on my drivers license. I have always possessed very poor memory skills. I have to be sure I write everything down...but then I can't remember where I put the material.

How can we say that the 6 days everything was created in was in a 24hr/day time period as we know it, when the sun and moon weren't created until the 4th day?
The sun and moon are how we determine the 24hr clock, but they were not created until the 4th day.
can someone help me with this please, thank you

God bless
In the NT Jesus Himself said, Are there not 12 hours in a day. That's good enough for me how 'bout you?

So is there day and night in heaven, and do they run on the 24hr clock too?
"And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever." Rev 22:5

watch out for the 12 hour daylight / 12 hour day that attempts to change other scripture in their error.(look up online - it's very strange and without any good purpose)

And this is why I'm not good at science. I thought those plasma balls were proving static electricity somehow. I thought plasma had something to do with some TV screens. (I did read the article. Still don't get it. :))

Ah physics. Something I'll understand right after figuring out string theory. (If you understand it, you still won't get me to understand it. lol) I thought the sun was lots of hydrogen that exploded and keeps exploding through fusion. (And, nope. Don't understand fusion either. lol)

Ohhhh, a welding arc. Now I get it. (And my mind goes instantly to Harry Potter and now I know what was going on between his wand and Voldemort's wand. Don't I have the oddest mind? lol)

The magnetic field will be necessary to protect the earth against solar radiation when the sun is created on day four.

To begin with, planets form via accretion around an already existing sun. This is basic cosmology. Thus, there is no physical way that our earth could have existed before our sun.

Secondly, the Hebrew text of Gen 1 never says that our sun was 'created' on 'day' four....if that was the intent, then the creation verb 'bara' would have been employed....but, instead, a new creation verb is used 'haya' (i.e. be or exist).

Does God not count as a physical way? If we're going to start slicing frog hair, want to explain the obvious? Is there a way God could create a whole universe?

It's either absolutely ridiculous, (which means we can't have this discussion, because nothing was ever created, including us), or the age old "God did it."

(And, sometimes I don't need science to explain the obvious.)

that's not necessarily true.

the article (and paper linked to in the article) are talking about gas-giants, but rocky planets may be able also to form outside of the accretion disc of a star - even in the accretion disc of a gas giant (as moons).

not to argue any point - just to spread some knowledge that i'm sure you weren't aware of; this change in thinking has only taken place in the last few years. :)

No one is denying that the God of the Holy Bible created the Universe....He did.

What is denied is that our sun was created after the earth.....both science and scripture reject this YEC assertion.

Thanks for the article.....but it is merely speculation on how rogue planets may have formed. Our earth is a captive planet in a solar system....thus, accretion has to be the method of its formation...

No, it is not a welding ark. That is not plasma. In welding we often used what is called a plasma cutter in the place of a cutting torch for very delicate work because it cut very fine and left little residue.
