There it is! That eternal fire which brought Sodom to ashes is an example of what will finally happen to the wicked. If this text is true, the same kind of fire that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha will also burn the wicked in the lake of fire. Does that mean it will also burn the wicked to ashes?
NO!
Matt 25:41 and Rev 20:10

If you're doing bath salts you have a lot more problems than liking crackers.

Annihilationism (also known as extinctionism or destructionism[1]) is a Christian belief that at the Last Judgment those not receiving salvation are destined for total destruction, not everlasting torment.

It is directly related to the doctrine of conditional immortality, the idea that a human soul is not immortal unless it is given eternal life. Annihilationism asserts that God will eventually destroy the wicked, leaving only the righteous to live on in immortality. Some annihilationists (e.g. Seventh-day Adventists) believe God's love is scripturally described as an all-consuming fire[2] and that sinful creatures cannot exist in God's presence. Thus those who elect to reject salvation through their free will are eternally destroyed because of the inherent incompatibility of sin with God's holy character. Seventh-day Adventists posit that living in eternal hell is a false doctrine of pagan origin, as the Wicked will perish as the Bible says in the Lake of fire.[3] [4][5][6] Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that there can be no punishment after death because the dead cease to exist.[7]

Annihilationism stands in contrast to both the traditional and long-standing belief in eternal torture in the lake of fire, and the belief that everyone will be saved (universal reconciliation or simply "universalism").

The belief has appeared throughout Christian history, but has always been in the minority

The number of lower mainland overdose deaths for last year was actually over
eleven hundred. That is three people a day minimum that Satan is putting in the
ground, possibly before they were saved. Pray God's loving kindness and merciful
ever loving grace on anyone struggling with drug addiction, or addictions of any kind.

Satan, get thee behind Jesus! We know Satan
has already been defeated. Come Lord Jesus.

Base12 out.
Ever feel rushed in life? Imagine being a non believer on that train. Then having to come to Christ before it hits the ground. That downhill ride could be the trip to hell. Now were back on topic. :D

It actually is not an Orthodox Christian belief. It goes against what the scripture clearly teaches about hell and damnation and eternal separation from God. It is anti Christian.

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

Hello TMS,

The scripture is not talking about eternal fire as referring to Sodom and Gomorrah, but the eternal fire that they will experience of those who were living that life style. In other words, after God destroyed those cities, those who died, their spirits went down into Hades where they are in torment in flame just as the rich man is, as well as the rest of the unrighteous who have died throughout history.

Everlasting fire means exactly what it says: on-going torment in flame, conscious and aware. How do you explain the following:

"And the smoke of their torment will ascend up forever and ever. And they will have no rest day or night whoever worships the beast, his image or receives the mark of his name."

You have to be existing in order for the smoke of your torment to ascend up forever and ever. And you have to be existing in order to experience having no rest day or night.

Putting candy bars up my bum? No man. That was all you. Lol you can't take it back now!
I'm pretty sure anyone reading your post 106 would come to the same conclusion I did. If you didn't want to be called out then maybe you shouldn't have said it or written it.

Seems 'hell' is a fool's way of insulting him who "will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." as written in 1 Tim 2:4

Y'all are too funny :eek::rolleyes::cool::p:cool::rolleyes::D

Thank you for that explanation, Silverwings :)

I do not identify as JW (shudder) nor seventh day adventist... I have never attended either places of worship, can't even imagine going JW... some of the info I got was from a Christadelphian site, and I do not identify with them denominationally either... the latter, as do JWs also, do not believe that Jesus is God. I definitely do :)

This is no different than what Peter says and 2 Peter 3:9. Even God does not always get what he wants or desires out of love for us. He is also all just. Again people who read the KJV should at least understand Elizabethan English if they're going to use it.
