Got called a bigot the other day for explaining to a girl how homosexuality is a sin. I was not judging or using westboro tatics how do we handle this?
I have often wondered about this as well.
I have a nephew who is gay, we love him so much, but struggle in trying to reach him in truth as well.
I have often considered if the guide on what to do rests in looking to Jesus.
How Jesus spoke to all of us, all sinners.
Consider the woman at the well, he approached her in love, but spoke to the many men she had been with.
Telling her to go and sin no more.
The woman who was to be stoned, He spoke to how any without sin, let him cast the first stone, Jesus was the only one who could have stoned her, yet instead, He told her to go and sin no more.
Jesus spent alot of time with those who were considered terrible sinners in those times, He always loved those he spoke to, yet also told them , your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more.
That last time I saw my nephew, I spoke again, to how homosexuality is wrong, he was about to debate what was said, I quickly spoke before he could, telling him, I speak only because of perfect love, the love that we are called to in Jesus.
I told him that, if you knew something that might keep another from this great love, would you in this love, desire the other to know the truth, so they would recieve this perfect love?
He simply said, well, if it is based in love, then its ok to speak to.
Now He still is walking that life style, no great change or healing yet.
But the point was, he heard.
So did the other gay couple presant at that time.
Maby sometimes all we can do is plant the seeds of truth, watered with the love of Jesus.
In hope, that the message heard, will be made to grow in the person, and compleated by Jesus.
My hope is in Jesus, that one day soon, my nephew will hear because of the love of Jesus, go and sin no more.
And that he will.

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.

God bless

I dont have to. He says right there Paul and Jude were not referring to private intimate relationships.

Loud horn went off. Dont need to read further.
There's always a need to read further, you don't want to be accused of having a preconceived opinion on the matter, now do you? ;)

Homosexual activity is and will remain a sin in the eyes of the Most High God because the Lord never changes. It is stated in Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I change not.” Also we can read it in the New Testament. Lets go into Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.” In addition, James1:17 states, “The Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”

So brothers and sisters no matter how men or women that are not of God try to make this abomination accepted in today’s society, it will not change in the eyes of the Lord. As long as an individual that participates in homosexual acts or any sin for that matter and then chooses to continue practicing the sin, the hope of receiving eternal life is null and void. You cannot come to the Lord as you are. But if a person repents and is baptized in the name of Jesus, his or her past sins will be forgiven. While a person is in their stage of repentance, they must learn the Word of God and what are the requirements of being His servants. That must take place before an individual should even think about being baptized. While there is still breath in an individual there is the possibility of repentance and avoiding the wrath of the Lamb.

If you start off with a preconceived idea about gays (for instance), and ONLY use the bible to justify your opinion, isn't that sin too? Shouldn't a christian begin with listening to Jesus' words first, and base his opinion on that, and not have an opinion first and only use Jesus' words to prove his point later?
That homosexuality is a sin isn't a fact, but an opinion, based upon how certain christians read the bible. For me as a non believer the whole concept of 'sin 'doesn't exist, although I can understand that it's real for you. I'm not saying that all christians who say homosexuality is a sin are bigots. If they came to that conclusion from reading the bible, then that's their conviction, and in a free country I have to respect that. Anyone a bigot however if he's only using the bible to justify his a preconceived idea about gays. In short: for a christian God's word should come first, not his own opinion, dont you agree?
It sounds to me like, you may have 'preconceived' idea of Christians as well. True, secular society uses the term Christian VERY loosely. In truth, a Christian does not just believe what is in the Bible, he/she lives it. Christianity is not a religion. It is the 'truth, the way, and the life'. And, as the verse previously quoted (John 14:6) tells us, He (Jesus) is the only way to God and Heaven. So, in essence, our Christian faith is not just for us. It will effect EVERYONE one of these days, and, judging by the signs, those days are getting shorter and shorter. So, before you start persecuting us, understand what we know as the truth of this sinful world. We (other born-again Christians) wish for everyone to follow us to Jesus' feet. Unfortunately, many people have trouble with humbling themselves. They want to do what they want to do. Jesus wants each and everyone of us to choose Him and enter into a loving and fruitful walk with Him. However, as Scripture tells us, 'narrow is the path'. God bless you in your search for meaning in life, I hope my words will guide you down the right path in time.
