So, isn't it a GREAT thing that we, as believers in Jeus, are not UNDER the law any more? So, we don't have to worry about "breaking even one point of the law".....

Praise God!
===============================================

Horn,
I need some understanding from you: are you saying that if I or anyone 'breaks any of the Commandments',
that they are 'exempt' from any 'responsibility-penalty'???

and let's not get into the 'degrees' of 'SIN', it's really senseless...we can, most of us, judge 'degrees of sin'...

Good grief.... trying to understand and discuss things with you is usually difficult, but you've just taken it to a whole new level.

I'm sorry that my belief that we are saved by grace bothers your Jewish-like adherence to Mosaic law. Let's just drop it... I cannot respond adequately to your rambling accusations and assumptions.
==================================================

Horn,

were you laying on the floor and kicking your feet way up into the aire********************************
you sound like a child that hasn't gotten his way and or refuses to 'listen' to the voice of experience...
we both love you much - and yes, sometimes we have to eat a lot of crow before we can learn
a darn thing'.:eek::rolleyes:..

The American Dream led to the US becoming the greatest nation on earth. The place where people in poverty have the freedom and opportunity to rise above that, and become as great as they choose to be.

A place where individuals can own property, and businesses without the threat of the government deciding on a whim to simply take them away.

A place where people are free to worship God any way they choose... freely, publicly, without persecution.

A place where the people get to choose who governs them.

There are so many facets to the Dream, that it would take a book to discuss them....

What we are seeing now, in our nation, is the perversion of the Dream.... things that have happened since the 1950's in this nation have undermined and changed the Dream from what it was meant to be. That needs to be corrected.

But this "nightmare" of a nation is still the nation that oppressed people from all over the world are DYING to get to. Why do other nations not have the flood of illegals trying to get in? Or the flood of LEGALS trying to get in?

Our nation is not perfect, by any stretch of the imagination, but from what I've experienced in visiting other nations... "first world" nations, I still would not live anywhere else, at least not by choice.

And that is not a lack of humility speaking... that is simply looking at facts.

Very well written post. I'm very thankful for our country and ask God's blessing on it every day. I'm also proud to be an American., Proud to salute our flag and sing our National Anthem. Know all the words of the Pledge of Allegiance., especially the last part.... One nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for ALL.

What would you propose Christians did wrong in this case?

I think that information about Christianity is everywhere and who desires can find it easily on the web, on TV, in various churches etc. What else should we do?
Pray and live lives as God direct.

The world is corrupt but I don't believe the Vegas massacre is worst than the genocides that occured during wORLD WAR 2 or the passivity of many people.

We can focus on what is wrong with the world...or we focus on Jesus and how He wants to make it right.

People idolize the past...100 years ago it wasn't all roses.

Have you heard of anyone being crucified by any established government recently? Are human sacrifices a normal part of life?

Both were before Jesus came and changed the world.

He is still changing the world today if you have eyes to see....one heart at a time.

What more can we do?

Pray, have faith and love one another.

No he just believes Jesus when he said not to worry.

Not worrying doesn't mean not repenting when we do wrong..it means knowing God loves us and will forgive us and teach us His ways. He doesn't abandon us even when we feel like failures. He washes us clean.

I am struggling to find conclusive proof that this event actually happened. It all looks staged. Very staged.
I live in western Canada. Many people go to Las Vegas from here. There were 5 Canadians killed in the shooting and many more injured. Their names are in the news, the stories of the grief of their loved ones. About getting medical care, about Canadian firefighters there for fun, and a nurse, helping with moving the injured, saving someone from being trampled that fell down. About the horror and devastation. About the long hours the doctors spent in the ER, just dealing with one after another person who were wounded.

I am sure the detail was much greater in the US. Just because you don't get the details, doesn't mean it didn't happen. You conspiracy nuts are how this kind of denial gets started.

It happened! 59 people are dead, and another 500+ wounded. No conspiracy. Ok?

I am certainly not posturing, since I am just presenting facts. At present the American system of government and its Constitution are second to none, and if the politicians and officials in government would seriously uphold the Constitution, you would not have the current promotion of sin and evil in government. The Constitution does not guarantee abortion or same-sex marriage (for example) but the Supreme Court has also betrayed the Constitution and the people in this matter.

Yes, all the nations of the world will be subject to God's judgments, and the USA will not be an exception. In the meantime, Christians are not to contribute to the "fall" of the USA, since that is the specialty of traitors and anarchists. Instead, Christians are to pray for those in authority, and for the nation, and vote according to their Christian principles. God was prepared to wipe out Israel in the wilderness, but Moses interceded for them. There's a lesson there for us.
You do make valid points.

I could be wrong, but you seem to be arguing that we should use Christian Kingdom Principals, in an attempt to change, the outcome for a republic and somehow it will keep her from falling. Israel learned the hard way with Saul. In my opinion and only my opinion, The wilderness and Moses have no bearing on this conversation and in my opinion, is no lesson for us to intercede for the USA. Israel was the only true theocracy until they demanded Samuel give them a king. I think that is the real lesson for us.

No, as a matter of fact I indicated that Dominionism is NOT what Christians are called to promote. Our job is to (1) propagate the true Gospel, (2) make disciples of believers, and (3) worship God in Spirit and in truth. Only Christ can (and will) establish His literal, physical Kingdom on earth.

I referred to Moses because Christians are not to work for the fall or downfall of the USA, but to intercede for the nation as Moses interceded for Israel. And if you do not believer that this is a Christian principle, meditate on this (1 Tim :1-4):

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Besides the (probably) obvious God hole in the shooter's heart, these factors about mass shooters are often true:

  • They are deeply lonely. They have no significant friendships to rely on, and very few quality people to confide in.
  • They experienced ongoing play deprivation. Their innate ability was crippled, and they struggle to maintain a healthy emotional connection with themselves and others.
  • They are deeply ashamed. They experienced extreme ridicule, rejection, or humiliation.

Are there other factors at play here?

Absolutely. Mass shootings are complex, and so are people. They don’t fit perfectly into our narratives.
Do the above three factors always lead to murderous behavior?

Of course not. But over time, they destroy an individual’s emotional health. And that’s the point.

About 1.5 hours from where I live at in WVa, there was a shooting where a 5 y/o girl and her mother were found dead, and her son that has Down's Syndrome is clinging to life, and getting ready for emergency surgery. It is believed it was a murder/suicide and they believe the mother killed her daughter and herself, and her son is clinging to life. How sad is it in our land today. Please pray. I cried when I saw this on the local news.
