Your statement only says that churches have changed the true meaning of the scripture.

How does your church change the meaning of this scripture?
(1 John 2:6) “But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did” Jesus did not occasionally sin. Neither does a Child of God who walks as Jesus lived.

Or this scripture? (Matthew 5:39) “You have learnt how it was said: ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’ But I say this to you: offer the wicked man no resistance.”

Or this scripture? (Luke 12:33) “Sell your possessions and give alms. Get yourselves purses that do not wear out, treasure that will not fail you, in Heaven where no thief can reach it and no moth destroy it. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Or this scripture? (1 John 3:9-10) “No one who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God. In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s.”

Or this scripture? (1 John 3:5-6) “Now you know that he appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen him or known him.”

Now tell me just how I have interpreted scripture differently than what it says.
do you love God with heart, soul, mind and strength all the time. Or have you just condemned yourself?

The SAME writer said 'if you say that you have no sin you deceive yourself and the TRUTH is not in you'. Enough said.

Jesus told us how to love him.
(John 14: 23) “Anyone who loves me will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.”

(John 14:21) “Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me; and anybody who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and show myself to him.”

Yes people quote that part of John’s letter, and how they can do so without feeling totally ashamed, I sure don’t understand.
Do they believe John was telling those Children of God who can’t sin, that they need not tell anyone?
Do you believe that John was saying they were liars if they shared they no longer sinned?
(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God. In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s”

I don’t believe people, when they quote (1 John 1:8-10), and they expect an intelligent person to use that to convince people that it is a sin to share that God keeps him or her free from sin.

When people use a verse such as 1 John 1:8-10 trying to say it is a lie to say one no longer sins, it is such a misunderstanding of what John said. If it was true what those people wanted to believe, then they are making scripture contradicting its self. I know scripture does not contradict its self.

(1 John 1: 8-10)[SUP] “[/SUP]If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.”

You need to see John was saying if one says he or she says they have never sinned they are liars.

If one is forgiven of all unrighteousness are they not then sinless?

Could they then be liars if they say they are sinless?

Read the scripture below, because you obviously don’t understand first John’s letter.

(1 John 3:3-9) “Surely everyone who entertains this hope must purify himself, must try to be as pure as Christ. Any one who sins at all breaks the law, because to sin is to seen Him or known Him. My children do not let anyone lead you astray’ to live a holy life is to be holy just as He is holy’ to lead a sinful life is to belong the Devil, since the Devil was a sinner from the beginning. It was to undo all that the Devil has done that the Son of God appeared. No one who has been begotten by God sins: because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God.”

(1 John 3:8) “He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work”

can a dead man sin??

you guys think i am joking?

anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
(Romans 6:7)

don't fret. trust Him. rejoice in Him!
consider yourselves dead to sin & alive to God through Christ Jesus.
in Him we have died as far as the law is concerned -- there is now no more condemnation for us. i am crucified with Christ, and i no longer live - who will bring charges against me?

get the other 2/3 of the gospel: may your joy be complete!!

i find this comment interesting.

You believe that God is one; you do well. The demons also believe —  and they shudder.

(James 2:19)

does this say that the demons believe in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus for their sins, and His resurrection for their eternal life, and that whoever believes on Him will be saved ?

or does it just say that the demons believe there is no other God .. ?

In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, "Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!"
"
Be quiet!" Jesus said sternly. "Come out of him!"
Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.

(Luke 4:33-35)

When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"

(Matthew 8:28-29)
these demons seems to know what some people don't know - you do well if you do! - that Jesus is the Messiah, the Holy One, the Son of God - but they don't seem to comment on 'fiducia' - trusting, confident faith - and the knowledge they express of Christ's purpose doesn't go beyond the coming judgement, that has an appointed time ((which explains why James says "they shudder")). they don't comment on His purpose to seek out and save what is lost.
Once again, you base an entire response on something 'YOU' encourage others to 'assume' that I stated.

I never quoted (James 2:19). 'YOU' did.

That yanks the rug right out from underneath your entire post and lands you right flat on your fleshless spine!

(With love, of course.):D See: your Avatar.

We could get lost in an entire thread about what demons clearly 'know' about:

-Jesus

-What He's done

-What He represents

-And the many verses in scripture that prove they fear Him for those very reasons.

-Not to mention the stated fact that none of this will save them, etc. (Very significant concerning what modern Christians believe constitutes their Salvation.)

INSTEAD, to keep things fun, we'll save all that material for the inevitable bridge to come.

-It's all about fun, here,...........................apparently.

That last part, there, kills me.

The hypocrisy is staggering.

Dying in Jesus is only the beginning.

Just as one who is charitably released from prison, with a life sentence yet to be served, by some unknown stranger who owed you absolutely nothing, the concept that we are free then to live however we please is beyond............silly.

"Go forth and commit no more crimes" says the stranger. Just as Jesus said, "Go forth and sin no more." (John 8:11)

How utterly selfish and unappreciative would we be if we went forth and continued to commit the same crimes that got us imprisoned in the first place?

The New Testament is 'LITTERED' with commands to cease all sin and obey God's commands. Beginning with Jesus, himself. (John 14:15) "If you love me, keep 'MY' commands."

And who is this 'MY' referring to? Well, Jesus made it plain as day that He was Almighty God. Did He not?
(John 14:9) ...he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father;.......

Dying in Christ is the release from the prison of sin/spiritual death. Yet, out of absolute reverence for this stranger and the free gift of early release from our well-deserved punishment, we are then to work as hard as we possibly can to avoid 'ALL' sin. This is a big part of the Holy Spirit, to 'enable' us to do this.

Anyone who says that sin is unavoidable is absolutely 'LOST'.

What sin, in particular, is absolutely unavoidable? I'd love to see a thread on this one.

What sin can we not keep from committing?

-Drinking alcohol
-Cursing
-Thinking lustful thoughts
-Thinking evil thoughts
-Stealing
-Raping
-Incest
-Adultery
-Murder

Seriously, what sin is absolutely too difficult for anybody who 'CLAIMS' to love our Lord and Savior to put behind them and sin no more?

(James 3:2) states that we 'ALL' stumble often. But remember that in order for it to be an actual 'STUMBLE', we must first be striving with everything we've got to achieve clean, holy living out of reverence for the unprecedented kindness that was afforded us by that certain Someone who 'FULFILLED' all of God's commands in the sense that He was the only man EVER to live without committing a single sin.

Jesus did 'NOT' end all of God's Commandments. He 'PROVED' that we can live without them. Via 'HIS' Holy Spirit.

I understand that makes people feel very 'connected' with the Christians across the nation, but did you ever realize that the only way this is possible is if the vast majority of Christian programs and churches are getting their weekly agendas from a single source?

Whatever person or organization that may be, it certainly isn't God.
It is called the Christian calendar, otherwise known as "Liturgical Year."
About this "Liturgical Year" you speak of; is there any basis for it whatsoever in scripture................'anywhere'?

I mean it sounds 'fancy' and all.

Ironically, that's exactly what it is.

fan·cy ˈfansē/
adjective
1. elaborate in structure or decoration.
2. designed to impress.
3. created from the imagination.

Can you, or anyone, produce a single verse from scripture that speaks of the......"Liturgical Year"?

If not, then that makes it a tradition of 'man' and a perfect example of what this entire thread is based upon.

That being: Modern churches that are not 'Sola Scriptura' or that do not base their entire message and activities 'solely' on the Bible; the Word of God.

I mean, really, it's simple. If your church does not base it's teachings and/or activities on the Christian Bible but, rather, on made-up traditions that have been passed down for centuries by 'man', then what is the point of your attendance?

And I mean that very sincerely to all who are reading this.

What is your purpose for attending church if not to learn about and follow the one True God?

And if that 'IS' your purpose, then why don't you read your Bible and, thus, see and agree that something is just 'NOT RIGHT'? That the Holy Book that God made for us does not coincide at all with modern church activity.

Because, sadly, the vast majority, in this day and age, are perfectly satisfied with attending church for the following reasons:

-Social Club
-Business Networking
-Dating
-Social standing and appearance in the local community or with business peers, etc.
-'Feel-Good' messages that are anything BUT Biblically accurate
-Pop Psychology

The list goes on, but those who attend for the True purpose of getting to know God and wanting to fellowship with True believers are not only few and far between and often ostracized as taking the Bible too seriously, but are sadly disappointed to discover that it just doesn't exist in any church they attend or visit.

(Matt. 15:3,6)(Jesus speaking)
"Why do you break the commandments of God for the sake of your tradition?"....."You have nullified the Word of God for the sake of your tradition."
