No on the prophets because we now have the full word of God Genesis to Revelation, therefore there is no more need for us to get God's word through a prophet. Where there are prophesies they will cease, when completeness (of God's word) comes what was only in part (prophesies) will disappear (no longer be). 1 Corinthians 13:8-10. And no on the apostles because there were only 12, (Acts 1:13) and they died. Now there were two named Judas, one was also called Thaddeus. But when Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, he was replaced by Paul (not by Matthias). All of the apostles had to be hand-picked by Christ Himself directly. In Acts 12:2 you can read about one of their deaths. If they were still alive they would be over 2,000 years old.

Do signs wonders and miracles that Jesus operated in still exist through the church today through believers?
No, not what I call miraculous miracles. Powerful things do happen through prayer, but no such things as walking on water, controlling the weather, turning water into grape juice, instantly healing the deaf, blind, and lame, or raising the dead. Miraculous miracles (as I like to call them) had a purpose- which was to identify the prophets, the Messiah, and the apostles, which purpose has been fulfilled. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says that faith, hope, and love REMAIN. In order for something to remain, something else has to have been taken away. So what was taken away? Miracles. Because there is no longer need for them now that we have perfection (the complete word of God to us). And when perfection comes the imperfect disappears. (1 Corinthians 13:10).

Does God still operate in dreams, visions, angelic visitations, or any other above natural way?
(Acts 2:17) Dreams? Yes. Visions? Yes. Angelic visitations? Yes, but in secret, not as a glowing beings with wings, again God does not operate in the physical ways He used to, but angels do help those who are heaven-bound (Hebrews 1:14). We no longer have prophets, yet both Christian men and women prophesy when the say to others, "Christ will return." All these happen in spiritual ways. It is no longer a physical battle, but a spiritual one. (Ephesians 6:10-20).

Does God still speak today?
Yes. We speak to God through prayer, and God speaks to us through the bible. (2nd Timothy 3:16) All scripture comes from the very mouth of God. Some feel like God is now silent because He now does things spiritually instead of using the physical signs that He used to, but God is very much alive and active today. But you can't see that unless you know your old testament very well and are able to see the spiritual equivalent in today's world.

That is a miss-teaching of 1 Corinthians 13 as there is absolutely no biblical evidence to place the biblical cannon as that which is perfect comes. That is what man interjected into scripture that has no basis. That which is perfect is not the bible, nor is it when the Lord returns as other prophecies still are fulfilled after his return.
The ceasing of prophecies happens when the New Heaven and New Earth comes, as that is the final prophecy in the bible to be fulfilled. From there there would be no more death, sadness, murder, hatred, or any other form of evil any more. A perfect utopia of love and praise for our God.

The first two verses of Revelation Chapter 21 proves that statement to be wrong.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

What does John prophesy about when He see the New Heaven and the New Earth? Does he not speak of the New City Jerusalem coming down? Also if you continue to read the things John talk about AFTER the New Heaven and the New Earth that he just described, there are more prophesies, look at verse nine, The Apostle John say there that he then saw seven angels with seven vials to be poured out. There are many prophesies AFTER the New Heaven and the New Earth, the 1,000 years reign of Christ is AFTER the Earth is destroyed by fire. The prophesies concerning the release of satan is AFTER the New Heaven and the New Earth. So i do not understand where you are basing your belief, that there are no prophesies to be fulfilled after the New Heaven and the New Earth, because there are plenty according to Scriptures. NOW granted, there will be no NEW prophesies after that which is perfect is come, that is True, but until He comes (Rapture) there will be prophesies, hence the reason that God pours out His Spirit on the sons and daughters and they SHALL prophesy.

No by scripture they will cease as that is what 1 Corinthians 13 says, as they will cease when that which is perfect comes. The reason they will cease is because all will be fulfilled at that point, and the only event that fulfills the last prophecy of the bible is the New Heaven and New Earth with the new Jerusalem here on earth. That is the final prophecy of the bible.

So I'm thinking about what you say of the new earth being the perfection to come, and it makes a lot of sense. But when Christ comes to rule over this earth for the 1000 years and satan is bound, this earth will be restored to what it was that God intended... so in that sense this world will be perfect under Christ. Will we need healing, prophecy, et all during the millennium? I don't think so... so I still kinda lean towards those things ceasing when Christ returns.

I see what you are saying about that however evil is still here on earth at that time.
It is just kept in check by the Lord during His millennial reign, as we can see by when satan is released after those 1.000 years he goes and gathers those of Gog and Magog to come up against the Lord. So biblical prophecies are still being fulfilled after the Lord's return, so all can not be fulfilled at His return. Only once all death, sadness, evil, and so forth are wiped away and the new Jerusalem comes down on the New Earth and New Heaven formed will that fulfill all things. Then no more prophecy will be needed as the Lord will be here, and our God will be with us...

satan and his minions are locked up for the 1000 years... being the source of evil, there is no evil during that time. True, evil is loosed again at the end, which may be a tripping point, but for the 1000 years themselves there is perfection under Christ. And about prophecy - is all prophecy "fortune telling"? Or is it the eternal word of God not just future but past and present as well? Like the prophecy of the antichrist. Prophecy tells us "the" antichrist is yet to come. Yet the Bible also tells us it's already here. So when the Bible prophesies of the antichrist, the eternal nature of God's will allows that to be fulfilled thru all time, culminating in a heightened sense at the end. Like tribulation. We have tribulation now, the only remarkable thing to come is that in the end it gets worse than it has been at any other time. So while prophecy may talk about a heightened future event, the eternal nature of it spills over into the worlds entire timeline. Thus, prophecy is not just about the future. Too, if God's word is eternal, does it cease to exist on the new earth? If it did, then it wouldn't be eternal. If it ended with this world, it would not be eternal.

Not arguing or saying you're wrong... you could be right. Just saying it's not a clear, cut and dried answer. Much to be considered therein.

So I think it's safe to say we need to cry out in the Body for God to raise up His true prophets in the Body of Christ!

Oh yes I believe....Last nighr the name Zechariah Gods prophet came to mind...and I didnt know who he was til I googled today I study Zechariah chapt 12 to 14 now...I believe for i know it is all real from experience. Thank you for posting the topic. Hod Bless You...lol hi im new here hee hee

I know over the years...people have assumed who the antichrist is. Some said Hitler, and others thought Sadaam Hussain. My question to you wise people is...how do we truly know who it is? Or perhaps he has not came yet. I know that Satan tricks peoples minds....but my heart prays in love for the Lord that he leads us not to believe false assumptions.
