Exactly!, it certainly would have to be in my imagination. Just like 1 John 1:8 said.
It is sad to me that someone would cling to one verse especially when they have to ignore the rest of 1st John, 90% of what Paul wrote, and everything Jesus taught to do so. smh

YesYour sin nature is destroyed at your new birth. Second Baptism is something you made up.
Through the indwelling of Christ, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit if we will walk in the Spirit
Romans 8
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

empowerment of the Holy Spirit we can if we walk in the Spirit

This is absurd, but we are to be as Christ in this world
1st John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

No your sin nature is not destroyed at the new birth. There is a great mistake.

Scripture tells me that I am a new creation in Christ, that ALL Things (including my sin nature) has passed away, and my new nature hates sin and want to obey Christ.

The blood of Christ does not cover our sins, it washes away our sin, as well as our sinful behavior. It does not only forgives our sins, it also changes our behavior, producing a moral transformation in the life of the believer. The blood brings forth a new righteous creation that God is looking for under the new covenant, we become the very image of Christ.

Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.

I think Phil3 is awesome and supports everything I believe. As a matter of fact it is the reason for some of it. Check out Philippians 3:3,. I think it will be very edifying to you

Now I want to clarify first, to avoid debate, :) that we are to avoid sin.
But if there is anything learned from Jesus, the only perfect is Jesus.
Jesus calls us to set flesh, self , aside, from what Ive learned this means both good and bad.
We are not to live under condemnation, or self glory of perfection.
We are to live in Jesus.
Letting His spirit bring all that is Gods will in each of us.
Why else grace? :) If we be perfect, there would be no need for grace.
I liked this post zone, too often we forget, that anything good in us, is given and brought in Jesus.

God bless.

amen :) :) :)

Yes exactly..Praise God that He gave us a new nature, new affections, we yearn for righteousness.
But Paul said about the old nature to "rekon it dead" then explained it wasnt dead but will war against us
till our vile bodies are changed.

Amen.........

I pray God will reveal to you all the truth of how God wants you to live, and the fact that if you choose to allow Him He will help you to do so

Our bodies may be vile, but our spirits are being conformed into the image of Christ

Our bodies may be vile, but our spirits are being conformed into the image of Christ
you see runner I believe God gave us a new spirit that is clean and we are to tame our fleshy mind and flesh to the obedience of the new spirit and heart God placed in us. we war with our flesh so that all might be in obedience to Christ. God allows our flesh to tempt us but show us how to avoid sinning through revelations in the Spirit. for do you not remember that our war is not of the flesh and our weapons are not of the flesh either. the battlefield is control of our body and our mind so that we might glorify GOD and not given in to the temptation of this world and our own fleshly desires.

2 Corinthians 10
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

we must first train our own minds and bodies to obey God. We must destroy strongholds, arguments and anything in OUR minds and self that tries to tempt us from doing God's will for us. We must learn with diligence what God's will is. we must grow and be fruitful.

2 Peter 1

5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

anyway I will pray that we all become mature in the knowledge of Christ and have the fruits of faith: virtue, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love. remembering always that we have been cleansed of our old sins :)
