REALLY, so perhaps you'd do me the kindness of explaining which of the following is WRONG:)

The Bible

FROM THE KING JAMES NO LESS

King James Version

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

It's that pesky work "ALL" that poses my question

e-g, I'm cracking up! This line is such a classic, it should be the official Sub-Title of the BDF!

"The Bible Discussion Forum"
or

Lol! :D

Ours too, Legalism is gospel mixed with some sort of law. And is sees as righteous and from God, when it is Gods truth twised by satan, and made to look like righteousness.
twisted by satan?

ok just so i am understanding correctly, satan is out there deceiving people to follow the commands of the Father, the same commands that Jesus followed and obeyed. and why would he do this, so when they die they are judged for trying to do exactly as Jesus did?
that makes little sense to me.

Satan says if you do not do it, Your not saved, or you will not be saved, until you start doing it.

He wants you to replace grace with law or rules and ceremonies and traditions.

He got the jews to buy in for centuries. The church was not even 300 years old. and he got them to buy into it to (roman heresy)

You want to obey the law Do as jesus said, Love the lord your god with all your heart. and your neighbor (anyone you meet) as yourself.

Do this and you will fulfill the law and prophets.

We do not follow the law by obeying some religious rules and regulations. We become christlike by doing what he did, He puts the needs of everyone else above his own 24/7.

Oh for that day when I am resurrected. when I too can do this.. Until then, I will keep on running the race. But not be arrogant enough to think I have arrived.

you are right

you are not understanding this correctly

you cannot place Jesus on a timeline and leave Him there

He died for our sins and rose again

we need to identify with Him and die and rise again

if its grace and nothing but grace, whats the point of all those teachings of Jesus and the 12? according to the grace idea, they are not needed. how can you guys not see the irony of all this?

The ironly is jesus said in john 6 anyone who believes in him, eats his flesh and blood (ie the words he spoke to us) and puts our trust in those words.

Will never hunger or thirst
Will live forever
Will never die
Will be resurrected by him, vs delivered to him
and has eternal life.

He said whoever has faith is not condemned, But whoever does not have faith is condemned already because they do not believe.

He said if you believe in me, as I live, you will live also.

yet people want to still say it is not grace alone which saves us, and add works.

That is from satan. Not God.

Thank you for asking:

Despite being credited as such I was NOT the author of the comment now hi-lighted in RED

So it was to THAT actual poster.

First, no one can do exactly as Jesus did.

Second, why would (satan) do this, you ask?
To convince people that they have some contribution to make, maybe steal just a LEEETLE bit of glory.

Anything the enemy can do to lessen Jesus' glory and to get man to increase in pride, however subtle, is part of his futile schemes.

Casting doubt on God's Word.
Casting doubt on His Authority, Sovereign love and care,
Sufficiency of His work of redemption on our behalf, etc.
Anything to take the focus off our Lord Jesus and put it on ourselves.

Remember, it was pride that brought the devil his downfall, and it's ours as well.
It's our enemy and God's enemy.

There's nothing wrong with striving towards being a better person as God wills for us, but it's when we get to thinking that we're doing pretty good 'following His commands', or else thinking we can do just as well on our own, that we get on a slippery slope of self-sufficiency, and the Lord has to once again bring us down to reality, not to belittle us, but to remind us of our position in Him, and who is on the throne. Worthy is the Lamb.

Not that we need an enemy to tempt us, we're quite capable of fouling things up with pride on our own. But the enemy knows how to exploit our weaknesses, and sometimes even in our attempts to 'do good' there's that snake whispering in our ear, 'You're doing good, keep it up', but hidden in that is, 'You're doing good (without Jesus), keep it up, you're really growing.' And eventually, 'You're good, you don't REALLY need Him, do you?'

Don't believe the lie, don't even let yourself be set up for it.

Let's have Jesus be our all in all!

If Satan can make a new gospel, Satan wins. Because he got people to reject the true gospel.

It's not about sin, it is keeping people from getting saved. He knows his eternal destination. He wants to take as many as he can with him.

and the new gospel is Satan fooling people to follow the example of Jesus?

Jesus taught Satan does not drive out Satan.

So much misunderstanding on this very important topic. It took me years personally to grasp it. That is not to say that I get everything about it.

For me the light dawned when I decided to understand the old covenant from the perspective of the Old covenant. In other words, first thing first.

I made mistakes by trying to understand the Old Covenant by the new. This proved to lead me to errors because without understanding the Old in its own right you will make assumptions based on the new. I made that mistake.

Once you do that you will find that the Old was not about law. Yes it did have law, but that was not what it was about. It was about faith and Grace. So when I see people say that the old is law and the new is grace I know they are making the same mistakes I did long ago. They are convinced cause they can quote new testament verses that seem to be saying that. But we must remember that the writers of the new were aware of the old and wrote accordingly. They were also writing to people who were aware of the old. Ps both Jews and Gentiles were aware of the old.

I wont go into it, but the key to understanding both the Old and the New and how they relate and how they are different is in these words. Love and marriage/union.

Once you get that you will read your old proof texts very differently. Its important to first understand the foundation.

Blessings.

We can try?
But not succeed?
Did you read MY post?
I said there's nothing wrong with striving to become a better person as God wills.
We can all stand a little more love in our lives, giving and receiving.
But you want to know why (satan) would tempt people to follow Jesus, and I gave you the answer, pride. And you proved it!
You said,

''I follow what Jesus taught''.

Do you? Pretty boastful of you, no?
Jesus said be perfect. Do you follow perfectly?
Which parts don't you follow?
Maybe you need to try even HARDER.
Really really REALLY try.

No, following Jesus is not a lie of satan.
Pride is.

I believe you want your heart to be in the right place.
But I also said that temptation to be prideful is subtle.
The enemy is underhanded. We all need to be on guard.
