A lot of people world wide who claim Christ celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus and if they so choose then who am I to judge them! Having said that, I for one do not as I do not believe you can "Christianize" a ex Babylonian-Pagan-Catholicized holy day, as that which is crooked cannot be made straight. I know I will catch it for saying that, but the truth is the truth. Read Jeremiah 10:1-8 which describes accurately the practice of sun worship, the cutting down of a tree, nailing it up right and decking it with Gold and Silver. This practice goes all of the way back to the beginning of the worship of the sun, hence being centered around the winter solstice. The R.C.C. teaches a form of church salvation and wanted to get as many pagans in as possible. Hence Christ Mass! The same was done with the worship of fertility gods and it being tied to the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, and contrary to the King James translators the word Easter in Acts 12:4 is Passover. I have a hard time believing that God would accept the blending of the birth of the righteous Son of God with an ex pagan holy day that has been Christianized and further more it is even more difficult for me to accept that God would receive a blending of the most glorious death, burial and resurrection of the Savior with an ex pagan holy day that celebrated fertility with the use of prostitutes and sexual perversion. That which is crooked CANNOT be made straight no matter how many religions try to CHRISTIANIZE it. On top of that the scriptures clearly teach that if we are going to glory then we are to glory in the CROSS of Christ as without His death, burial and resurrection His birth would have been in vain!

Because we follow Jesus and his word and do what he asked us to do, and not the world

Go read on wikipedia on MAry I of england (blloody Mary)

The world is run by controlling powers who try and take over every country with assasinations, lies bribes and whatever they can to kill protestants

and they succeeded with christmas sunday and easter.

Going back to the Bible will bring the Ire of the worldly, hatred calumny and they will off you any chance they get.

You see, the celebration 2000 wwas the celebration of the world religion finally taking over all religions, they all worship the beast now.
The leaders dont do anything without asking the beast if it is ok...

Jesus said come out of Babylon be ye separate
The showdown is coming in a few months and the beast will loose.

We need to stick with the word of God and we will be safe
Jesus is our rock and what can man do to us?

Just before one person tried to attack me by falsely accusing me, he died of a stroke.
Just as another bore false witness against me, she was fired
God takes care of his children

Follow him.

Thor, son of Odin (or Wotan), is celebrated in Christmas rituals. As is Odin himself.

I think people are using the "I do not celebrate christmas cause its pagan" excuse to get out of buying anything, including presents for others.

Every day has a pagan name ascribed to it, so what are you going to do? Stop breathing?
CELEBRATE!!!

That only works for countries where they 'worship' Santa.

We r th light of th world! And Christmas is just another great opportunity to b that light! Do u realize how much witnessing opportunity their is during not only on Christmas, but every holiday!

I respect ur opinion and don't believe in keeping any of th pagan root traditions of th holiday, myself. And also find it strange that Christian even got th idea to celebrate birth and mourn at a saints funeral, bcz th bible says quite different. Yet I celebrate this holiday in the way of being a light! As Christ became our light when He came to earth :)

Would you say the same for the Eve of All Hallows?

Franklin was never president :p
He just thought he was. American paper money is referred to as dead presidents. I suppose you had to be born in a particular time and place to have heard that expression. Apparently it doesn't play well in the Netherlands.

Indeed. Our money is much more colourful, interesting and 'lively' too...

Why as a believer I do not celebrate Christmas or Easter
So, according to you then, Christ did not come in the flesh, nor did He live a sinless life upon earth to be the Lamb of God, nor was he crucified, descending into Hades, and having made atonement for the sin of the world was raised (out) from the dead, ascended into Heaven sitting down at the right hand of God fulfilling His high priestly ministry (after the Order of Melchizedek), waiting until His enemies are put under His feet and all according to the Scriptures!

That's a novel take on things! :p

Oh boy! I do not celebrate Christmas like the world but I do celebrate Christmas like a Christian. I love to celebrate the birth of Jesus in a manger in Bethlehem. I love that the whole world is forced to remember that Jesus came into this world. Many will hate Him but He knew they would. He came anyhow.

I do not have a problem with Christmas trees, or Christmas gifts. I do have a problem with those who deny themselves and condemn those who do not.

Everything the world does is corrupt. I still shop at the grocery store even though the world shops there. We are in this world we simply are not of this world.

For the cause of Christ

I do agree basically. And know about the origination of many of the 'festivals' we celebrate. Halloween is getting really rank and it is no wonder.

Each year people bring Christ back as a baby and put Him in a little manger; yet He went on to become a full grown man, accomplished so much and now sits at the right hand of God. And is coming back as a sword wielding worrier.

That being said, I have a thought about Christmas.

At one point in time our family did not celebrate Xmas for the reasons you have stated. (We are not JW's or anything like that:)). But eventually we acquired in-laws and the grandkids came along. Thankfully most of them are now true born again believers. I think we have rationalized, "We are in this world but not of it," and always play down the (evil) Santa Clause thing. Also we found statistics showing that more people get saved at Christmas time than at any other.

Would like to hear what you think. Can we get too "religious" about the origin of things?
