Obama gave a 1/4 of his income to charity according to this report. A good percentage went to military veterans.
The Obamas reported donating $150,034 to 33 charities, just under one-quarter of their adjusted gross income. They donated $103,871 to Fisher House Foundation, which provides services to military members, veterans and their families.
Wow. Is this still going? Sorry I had to leave but life does take up time.
I'm sure ya missed me
Here's one for ya -
A private Equity firm named Blackstone recently took out a credit default swap on a European racing and gambling firm called Codere. Blackstone then made a loan to Codere, with one provision of the loan being that Codere pay late the first loan. Codere paid the first loan 2 days late, Blackstone made $15.6 million on their CDS (Bloomberg News). Wall Street still up to it's old tricks.
You're right, it's not the conservatives or liberals who are wrong here, it's the greedy. And they come from both sides (all sides for that matter). Just as the generous come from both (all) sides.
I think we all know what the Bible says about storing up treasure in this world. Every penny banked here is worthless over there. Compassionate generosity is how we bank for there. Greed is how we bank for here. Whatever label you attach it to, it's just wrong. And we should not support it be it liberal or conservative.
Matthew 19
16Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” 17“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” 18“Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “ ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony,19honor your father and mother,’[SUP]c[/SUP] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’[SUP]d[/SUP]” 20“All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” 21Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. 23Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
says it all. It is hard for someone rich to enter the Kingdom of God. Period, end of story, and not in the Obama way. Let us all strive to be compassionately generous to the point of earthly poverty. Because that's when we start banking riches in heaven. And I'd rather invest there than in this world's Certified Death Spirals schemes.
The Republican Party of the USA, seemingly controlled by the Tea Party, seems to be good at standing on principle, which I respect. However, does the Tea Party demonstrate enough compassion, and can they win a national election (the presidency) if they don’t?
no, they don't, and it won't make any difference in the election.
yahweh is no respecter of persons, and the politics of the usa are not , by a long shot, his.(though he directs all things, it is not because they seek him any more than babylon or persian governments did in the OT)...
